- Here is a tour of the Gabrunas Hall barracks at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. At the time, it was home to E-4's. This video was recorded in 2017!! I'm just now getting around to editing this footage. I'm sure not much has changed at the barracks since recording this.

Man I got out of the army 2006. You guys are so lucky for having a barracks like that. Now I fell like the army treated their soldiers like shit.

Wow, looks more like a college dorm if anything else.
A WHOLE lot nicer than the housing we had when I first went in back in 83.
However, I did opt to live off post after I got married as I wanted to have as much separation of my home life and military life as I could.

You really bring great happy tears to my heart. I am thinking how bless I was back in the day to be in the United States Air Force as a Security Police in 1980. To me, the living conditions were so great even then. So, now seeing the military now. I am so happy for all of you women and men today. My oldest son is US Marine Sergeant, number 2 son, is US Army Specialist and now waiting for my daughter to in the future be US Navy Boot camp recruit. Thank for that great tour. GOD bless America.

@@JoannBasilio Yes she will, back in the day I wanted to join the US Navy but, major drama for me was swimming. In those days I remember hearing to perform you swimming test, we just throw you in the deep end. I said, I think I will go to the US Air Force now. So, my daughter joining US Navy is living my dream. So glad all my children swim like sharks, thank you.

Not a navy dude I went army combat engineer. So I just found your channel and I'm glad I did👍 Question , when you first thought about joining the armed forces did you talk to your parents about it? Were they pro or con ? My daughter and I have discussed this and having served myself I'm like hell ya, that faded once I got wind of the treatment of our women in uniform witch unfortunately I hadn't paid enough attention to before my daughter father talk. Was it an issue for you?
Yes, of course I talked with my parents about it. They were both very supportive! (: I think that I was very lucky to have been at a command and with a work center who were all very respectful of each other. My heart breaks to learn that other females are not as fortunate. If your daughter does decide to join, I wish her all the luck and send her good vibes and protection everywhere she goes.
What is the difference between a junior barrack and a e4-e5 barrack?
E4 usually have their own bed spaces but just share a kitchen area. e5 in the navy get housing allowance and live off base
Actually a lot nicer barracks then I had in puerto rico or at Camp Pendleton

Hi I’m currently in A school and I go to my first command right after I graduate and I’m also E-1 would I be able to stay in the barracks ? because the ship I’m going to be on is a destroyer and I don’t want to stay on the ship I don’t do well in cramped areas
Hi! Receiving a barracks room depends on your command and if there is space at the barracks. Your command might require that you complete some training before being able to move off the ship. I would contact your division LPO and see what the requirements are, if any. As far as not doing well in cramped areas, you will have to live onboard while the ship is underway. What ship are you going to and where is it stationed?

Are you an officer or do you not get a roommate in Hawaii. Im hoping to get stationed there.
I’m not an officer yet. Barracks are for junior enlisted members. The roommate situation depends for each person. Also, some buildings are nicer than others. It’s really just by chance

I’m possibly moving to Hawaii. Do you have an option living outside the base or it’s up to the chain of command?
If your E1-E5, not married or not dependents your ass living in the barracks. Get married or wait till you promote to E6
Hi Robert, sorry I'm just now seeing your comment. If you are in the Navy, you will be in the barracks until you are promoted and paid as an E-5. I believe the other branches are up to E-6 on base. Married service members can stay off base. I mean this in the most respectful way possible -- DON'T GET MARRIED JUST SO YOU CAN LIVE OFF BASE!!!!!!! That is all lol

@@JoannBasilio Haha Naw..didn’t/don’t memorize the fortunes, but once in awhile I look to them for encouragement or to think on them, as things to come in the future. Yep, still here in Vegas. I live in southwest; Durango and Warm Springs. Close to blue diamond. Do you use thee app EmeHive?
