A/Prof Vijay Rajagopal did his PhD in soft tissue mechanics and clinical breast image analysis at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute in New Zealand and graduated in 2007. He received an early career fellowship from the Royal Society of New Zealand to begin a new research program in cardiac systems biology in 2009. He did a brief postdoc between 2012 and 2014 in microfluidics and mechanobiology at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology before joining the University of Melbourne in 2014 as a research and teaching academic in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. A/Prof Rajagopal has been a Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Mathematical Institute and Vangaurd Visiting Fellow at the University of Birmingham. His current research interests span biomedical AI, systems biology, and mechanobiology to uncover molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases.
