There’s too much traffic
In my head, babe.
I wish that I was on a freeway
Just flying along.
But all my feelings,
They kinda seemed so out to get me.
I always felt like it’s a strange thing,
Just being alive.
‘Cause I know someday it’s gonna be all over,
No more Spring into Summertime.
So can I hold you underneath October?
Black jeans in Autumn, leaves falling down.
I hate the way that time goes,
Crashing over like a steamroller.
I wish I could do my life over.
I’d be young better now.
I don’t know what happens,
To all our favorite, faded memories,
Christmas mornings by the fir tree,
And then you’re gone.
And I know someday, you’re gonna make me lonely.
And maybe someday, I’m gonna make you cry.
But right now we’re angels in the muddy water.
Black jeans in Autumn, leaves falling down.
And I know love goes longer than this lifetime.
And I know time goes faster than my mind.
So if you wanna find me, I’ll be down the shoreline
Black jeans in Autumn, sun going down.
Black jeans in Autumn, sun going down.
Black jeans in Autumn, leaves falling…
"I'd be young better now" is among the best lines this guy has ever written.
A pastor once said "I would have been a better kid if I was a parent first"
It's hard to pick one man alot of his lines are so relatable
This whole song for example
'Black jeans in autumn, leaves falling down' feels like a bittersweet coda to wild hearts, blue jeans and white t shirts.
Yesterday I was driving to work, listening to this tune, wondering how we waste so much time working jobs we hate, for shitty people that treat us just like slaves, as soon as I arrive at work they fired me, I went back to my car blast this tune with so much joy for the future and such relief, I will always associates this song to this moment! Don't waste your life folks, the time you give away won't turn back! Time is precious, so are you! ❤
I'm sorry, congratulations, and you'll be better.
@@cecilkeith1951 thank you, you're right I can say it's for the better, and I'll be better, I can focus on my music now 😊
@@charlesdillinger which is pretty good music btw!
@@alexxmde 🙏🏻 that made my day, I truly appreciate it!!!
😢 I started listening to them about 4 years ago, one year before I lost my husband....now 😔 needless to say they hold my heart ❤

I'm turning 50 on Monday. This song breaks my heart. Most hauntingly gorgeous song
One of the best he's ever written and that's saying alot
Something strange, uncomfortable and anxiety filled when you consider your own mortality and what life is. Brian’s lyrics can have such a haunting feel but also make you feel so safe. It’s so strange it’s hard to put into words. Thanks Gaslight
Exactly. The song is sad and super melancholic but still you feel so warm and safe listening to it, and kinda reminds you of how beautiful life actually is
I'm about a year younger than Brian and it's funny to see his lyrics evolve like life does. Early TGA, the lyrics are all about the present and hopes for the future and the life you'll live. Now, in your 40's, you start seeing your youth in the past and mortality in your future.
Lucky I'm here now for good music.
@@JaredHopeI was born in ‘82. I always felt like his lyrics resonate with me. Some songs take time to grow on me I’ve been left wondering more than once Is that what Brian was thinking a couple years earlier when he was that age. He does an amazing job of putting the listener in the driver’s seat!
@@CaptainOfMyBurden82 definitely, I always think it's one of the cool things about lyrics, you can find your own interpretation and how lyrics connect with you. I connect with Brian's lyrics because I can see that frame of reference shifting from a young guy in his 20's to in his 40's now in the same way my own perspective has changed.
@@JaredHope I agree and well said. It’s been a fun ride growing with the band. Hopefully that continues for years to come.
I’ve been a gaslight anthem fan for 13 years! It was a love I shared with my father. He passed away a few years ago. I can’t put into words what I’m currently feeling. The new album released on the day my twin girls are born. Making me a first time father. ❤
One of the special things about music is how it becomes the soundtrack for your life...good and bad. TGA definitely is for me too. Congratulations on your newborns and condolences on your father.
Congratulations on the twins, I just had twins too!
I know how you feel a bit, my first daughter was born right around when Brian released “When You’re Ready” and I’ve spent many a night singing her to sleep with it.
It has a feel of Brian's solo work, in a good way. TGA's midtempo stuff like Sweet Morphine has always been underrated. This album is looking great!
Yeah, I feel like this would’ve been a solo song. My favorite of the new ones so far.
I was thinking the same thing!
Haven’t had a song resonate with me this strong since “here’s lookin at you kid” I can’t wait for this album ❤️🔥🤘
Is this coincidental that a good friend of mine sent me this somg today. The day I got out of the hospital after struggling for 5 days. By the way, I'm Autumn. This song came to me at the exact perfect time 🍁🍂
❤️
🙏❤️
This one kind of subtly crept up on me. I was listening to a recent recording of a live show yesterday, and I suddenly realized I really love this song.
Damn this song is awesome. The band have never sounded better in my opinion. Now going to tell someone to stop cutting onions around me.
What an absolutely beautiful song! So far, this is my favorite from the new releases. Can definitely hear the Petty influence and I'm here for it.
man imagine having petty(rip) on this song I can hear it.
Last week when it got colder I thought how eventually there won't be another season change to witness. Now this song comes...loving this album.
Man, this makes me so happy, the last time I was so stoked about an album release, I was a 13-year-old emo kid belting out "welcome to the black parade"
Drove by your concert while you guys were in Omaha and Im so happy I caught the name because I am loving the band so far!
Beautiful song. Sounds like it could have been a track on Local Honey.
Favorite one so far, can't wait for the album.
Lonely For You Only vibes
every song so far is amazing. Can not wait for Michigan 1975 to be released
It is so good!
This is what I have been missing, outstanding gents. Top of the cap to you
Well, I guess this album will be my new Fall anthem every Oct 1st. Theres nothing better than a pure album which brings you to a moment in time, or season.
Local Honey forever takes me back to covid 2020. Taking early spring walks with my little girl, away from work, businesses closed down, and having that record playing on my phone speakers...
Now when that cold weather kicks in each year after Summer... I hope I can think back when I first heard these tracks on the record, like Michigan 1975, and what has been going on now in my life... and I'll be sitting by the fire pit, having a drink and will just feel good.
Oh there’s that classic TGA sound! The boys havnt lost their touch! This new album is fixin’ to be a banger!
Crazy this just showed up in my recommendations. So little story, I'm also a NJ local & first saw you guys open for rise against at the electric factory in PA when I was 16. I'll be 32 next month and that was actually my first concert, went with my friend Greg, Christian, Albert and my twin brother Justin. Since then both Albert and my brother passed away but that night I saw you guys was truly amazing and one of the best memories I'll ever have, this song is so New Jeresy and nostalgic to me that it sounds like home even though you just released this. Thanks for bring up some good memories, this song hit me like a freight train.
Damn! Deep stuff.
This work of art being released on my birthday is the best gift I've ever had.
How do you guys know how to speak directly to my soul?!
I adore you all 🖤
Happy birthday!
We share the same birthday! :)
Happy Birthday friend I've never met
Fantastic, this album is shaping up to be a classic I am so happy they are back they're brilliant. Such an underrated band. This song makes me want to cry & laugh as others have said.
This really just feels like a Tom Petty song, and that's not a bad thing
I am so glad TGA is back. I saw them in May and they ripped. I have dug every new song they've released. Can't wait for the whole album.
TGA Underrated, 💯% true. But you know what, TGA Fans are the best fans in the world, and i have been lucky enough to have seen them live four times and Brian solo once (acoustic in a church). The people I've met that share TGA lyrics and melodies are awesome. This track just talks to the soul. Can't wait for the Roundhouse UK In March.
The 2018 gigs at Hammersmith Apollo were emotional. I'm lucky enough to have seen many hundreds of artists live, the crowd that night were the best I've been apart of. No one rips like gaslight.
I was there. You are not at all wrong. Got my ticket for the Roundhouse on the 25th of March. Can't come soon enough.
I just saw them a second time in Boise, Idaho. It's great to see TGA back together and the crowd and band both seemed to be having a great time.

This night at Hammersmith… unmatched … WE the TGA crowd… incredible.
I will never forget it. A night with endless goosebumps.
My brother, my best friend and me….
„WE LIKE OUR CHORUSES SUNG TOGETHER, WE LIKE OUR ARMS IN OUR BROTHERS ARMS….“
Life is good. Even better with the boys from little eden!

Thanks, Brian, for not holding this song back until your next solo album. I needed this one now.
This is the song that made me fall in love with this album.
6 more nights of sleep…
Can’t wait.
Goosebumps!!!
Fantastic. Beautiful. Makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. Goes very deep. ❤❤❤❤
At this point I don’t know if the music makes the mood or the mood needs the music. Anthems for so many feelings I could never put into words. Just… thank you.
Can't wait for the new album, everything so far has been absolute fire 🔥 🙌🔥
Thanks, Brian, for writing yet another masterpiece.
History Books is going to be great! Every song so far has been a total knock out. I don't wish for time to move faster that it already does, but I'm highly anticipating the release date.
Please come back to Toronto. Got some tears that need falling.
I fell in love with this song, thanks all the TGA
One week left!
Right now, we're angels in the muddy water.
This song is amazing. Seems like this album is going to be great
GA fans know but if you end up here and you dont know who they are you are in for a treat. This song is one of the best off the new album but they have deep cuts...enjoy
This song is super beautiful!!
Brian is a poet
UK / EU tour announced but no dates on the website as yet
Wow....just wow.
This is definitely the perfect song for now. I have always related to his lyrics. I love that they are back.
Great lyrics, sad, medium tempo, tremendous hook, awesome song! 🤘
Such a beautiful song
the first two seconds sound very much like "yellow ledbetter"... classic at first listen.
I don't know you but I know your music and it knows me. Thank you for that
I’m not crying you’re crying
I tried to think of what the song reminded me of, well at least the intro. And it's like the Gaslight Anthems answer to Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter intro. I can definitely see this being played alongside any of the early 90s "grunge" favourites. Anyhow, this is my favourite song on this album - although it does make me feel a bit lonely.
If you want to find me...ill be down the shoreline.. Epic
I've been listening to these wonderful gents for too many years to count. It feels right that this song dropped and I'm due to have my daughter Autumn on two weeks. Brian can do no wrong.
Best song on the album
Damn good! It feels like they haven't been apart!
Just found out my wife is pregnant. Song hits hard.
Thank you TGA..... just thanks
Yep, they still have it. Best band
Pure gold 🖤
Classic Gaslight Anthem! this is the signature stuff why I Iisten to TGA. Too Good!
Awesome
They've done it again. Can someone name me a shit Gaslight song? 100+ songs and not one dud.
True that! Impossible to find!
This song sounds so similar!! And I can’t figure out. Idk if it’s a gaslight Anthem song or Brian Fallon solo albun.
Love it though and can’t wait for this record
Have u ever listened to a song on re-peat so many times that it gets better every time?
Yes I have.
🔥🔥🔥
Great!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Choooon!
Amazing.
Memento mori.
dig it!
Wow 😍😍😍
Amazing as always omg, but damn the "2024 UK/EU tour announced" false alarm, I almost had a heart attack seeing the link 😢
@Rrrrrroar23 i missed it, what has been posted?
What???
DATES ARE UP
Omg thanks
Not so false, thankfully.
It reminds me Moonlight mile
This song will be played at my wedding ❤
Gaslight did it again. Made another got damn banger that fuck hits all the feels.
One of my favorite songs of the year 🖤
Love It!! 🖤
This is one of the best songs ever made.
Sounds like another Fallon solo album. I like it...but the Gaslight album's blow me away. Best band of this century . This is like any number of bands, or solo artists .
love love love this
🔥🔥🔥
Does anyone know who’s doing the backup vocals in this?
oh boy, what a day
I want to eat this song for brekky ❤
sounds like a Brian song rather than gaslight
Intro had Pearl Jam vibes and then morphs into Tom Petty
Well done ⚡⚡⚡
Anybody got a link to lyrics??
its in the drop down menu:)
Where have ya been brian?
❤
hell yeah...
NO ME VOY A CANSAR DE ESCRIBIR QUE VENGAN A MEXICO Y ESPECIFICAMENTE A GUADALAJARA
🧡love
Gran canción!
I know its ifs and buts, but IF this album came out after handwritten instead of get hurt, I think we'd be seeing them doing arenas right now.
And we wouldn't have got 3 solo albums from BF... I think without Local Honey, this song would not be a song.
Will I find Garrett in the comments section? 🤔
Looks like you found at least 1, and maybe 3 others.
Me!?
I don’t know if these are the Garrett’s you’re looking for…😂
@@garretthall8268 😂 I'm looking for GG. But I bet you're an awesome Garrett also.
@brandyfritz1587 is this person of significance to the band? Just curious lol
Easy Money... 😅
If u cut your hair I will try to let my grow out. U know whom I am.😂😂❤
Ill pass on this..i like the faster stuff..like little fires❤
