Why don't they make a "underwater mode", so when you activate it the screen only reacts if you force touch it

Mx Jonson late reply I know but to go into further detail, Apple would never do such a gesture, if they did then people would put their phone underwater and then when their phone breaks, will take it to Apple and say “to wtf it broke in the water” and well, putting such a option of force touch only for underwater would encourage the use and give people confidence in putting the phones in water.

I like the water and dust resistance, but I need fingerprint resistant screen.
Tung Thanh No phone has a fingerprint resistant screen,the phone does have olpheobic (idk how to spell it) on it which reduces fingerprints but it starts to wear off the more you use it.
Just get a tempered glass screen protector that protects against smudges and fingerprints, mine works great and is always crystal clear

My iPhone SE when dropped in water the speakers crack to but resetting it and leaving it for 10 minutes and it is perfect again.

To clear the speakers of water you need to play music at full volume in short bursts, works just fine for me and I've never heard any weird crackling from the speakers.
I just played a song at full volume on my samsung for a few seconds and it started working normally again

I think the whole idea of making it water resistant was to combat damage from accidentally dropping it in water for a few seconds, not to be used as an underwater device.

I take my 8 in the pool with me and use it for filming shallow free diving and snorkelling videos.
I have a pair of portable pair of Bluetooth earbuds from amazon that are underwater certified which were reasonably priced.
There are now affordable case rigs that can handle some of the touch screen needs for photos and video.
Oh dang it now I can’t charge my phone after i scuba dive with it.
The salty ocean water damaged the port because of salt even samsungs has a problem with that

For getting the water out of the ports, use a blowdryer. Keep it a little far back so your phone doesn't overheat

I was wondering if the iPhone 8 held up to your water tests in the days following? I watched a couple videos of some individuals who conducted similar water tests where phone issued presented within 24-48hrs later. The most common issue was moisture behind the glass for the camera.

I had a 6 with a life proof case and had it underwater plenty of times. The usage of the screen underwater was about the same as what’s being shown. It does kind of freak out and can’t sense your fingers. Needless to say I can now save money on water proof cases with the 8+ ($800 later 😂)

You need the right kind of adhesive. Get it done by apple and they will use the same adhesive to make it dust/water resistant

The speaker crackling concern me as well. I just blew it out with some dust remover went back to normal.
