    Awesome job! Too many of the Try-to-ride-everything-with-Genie-plus videos have just ONE guy doing the park. Your video is much more realistic and applicable to more guests, because you're a group of four. You're showing us what it's like to book LLs for four, take snack breaks for four, etc, call it a day for four. {A-team voice} I love it when a plan comes together.

      It was probably the busiest day we’ve had at the parks. Won’t likely repeat it for awhile. As I assume the DCA challenge will be easier with only 18 rides.
      We’ve come very close in DCA before without Genie+, so Genie+ should make it quite possible and leave at our normal time.

    I don’t understand that roo pass. Why would they let a group of 2 cut? Do they think most family’s are 3-4 people so the back seats are open?

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  7 месяцев назад

      That’s exactly right. The Roo pass is ONLY used if the back seat is empty.
      So they put a family of four in the front two seats and they can’t find a party of two in the standby, then they’ll take from the Roo Pass line.

      I wouldn’t rope drop Goofy’s Sky School. Guardians is a better option. Goofy’s will be a walk on for at least the first hour.
      I also would caution you against the Canoes last because they’re only open from like 10 AM to 4 PM. So if you wait too long, you’ll lose that opportunity.
      In general, we don’t make an order list. Perhaps for the first 2-3 rides we know what we are doing, but then from there it’s solely based on the wait times. We see what we are near, which wait times are low, and we go there next.

    Thanks for all your videos, they have been most helpful. I am coming over to Anaheim from New Zealand in late July for two weeks (July 20 to August 3). Looking to do a five day pass over that time. Do you have any recommendations on days of the week to aim for and which to avoid. I will be doing park hopper for the five days and thinking of splitting the starting park to 3 Disneyland and 2 CA. I have a few other tours to fit in over that period and will do a full day Universal VIP on one day as well. Thanks

    The garlic cheesy pretzel bread was my favorite item! I was so glad I tried it while I was there. I agree about Peter Pan, I dont know why its line is SO long. The ride was fine until the end and then we got whiplash at the end. For such a popular ride, you would think they would make the landing a little easier.
    Alice ride is great to do during parades because you can watch while in line and makes the time go by faster. For our 3 days, without genie plus, we rode every ride we wanted to except space mountain bc single rider wasnt available at the times we went. 2 of my friends did get ILL for ROR on our last day just bc it was that important for them to ride it. 😃

We’ve found with fast passes, DCA is easily doable in half a day so we always get one park hopper ticket and one regular ticket for Disneyland: 1.5 days at Disney, 1/2 day at DCA

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  7 месяцев назад

      My boys are 9 and 6, and they love all of them. Everything at Disneyland is pretty tame across the board. Over at Disney California Adventure, however, there are a few bigger thrill rides that might need some convincing (Guardians of the Galaxy and Incredicoaster).
      But at Disneyland, I would say Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a good trial roller coaster before braving Space Mountain or Matterhorn. Space is the in the dark, Matterhorn is bumpy because of its age. If they don't like Big Thunder, they won't like either of those options.
      Indiana Jones jostles you around a lot, too, but it's not scary. The rest of the rides really are pretty tame.

    So how long did it take you to plan this trip to get every ride in, in one day?

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  21 день назад

      @@52185mertlich No planning at all. We 100% winged it based on wait times in the app. It’s too hard to plan for something that can be different every single day just based on ride closures alone. You have to be able to look at the app, know what’s high, what’s low, and make calls on where to go next based on that understanding.
      So I guess in a way we had years of preparation for this video. But no pre-planning before we left the house and no itinerary we were following.

    Planning our trip for September and have a question. We are going for a week, as of now we have 5 day 1 park per day tickets on layaway with getaway today but unsure if I should switch them to park hopper. The oogie boogie schedule makes me want to plan days around that but I also wanted to be able to rope drop parks that don’t have early entry. Isn’t it a pretty slow morning at DCA on oogie boogie days because people mostly go to Disneyland instead?

      Park hopper is a really good choice at 5 days because it’s only $75/person for the whole trip.
      And yes, routinely the morning of after hours events are calmer because the non-hopper folk are picking the opposite park.
      And double whammy for Tues and Thurs being Disneyland early entry for those hotel guests without hoppers.

    Is the Roo Pass kind of like the single rider line? Where they fill up empty seats?

      Yes, but for 2-3 people, however many you can cram into the back row.

    Hello! My family and I are going to DCA on March 2nd and one of our must do rides is Soarin Over CA. Do you think we should get Genie+ or Rope drop? Or just wait standby. I’m just super nervous it’ll be a really long line as we’ll only be there for one day!! I’m anticipating big crowds since it’s one of the first days and opening.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  7 месяцев назад +1

      Anytime you only have one day in a park and it might be awhile until you’re back, we recommend buying genie+. Plus with it being Soarin over California, it’s going to be way more popular.

    Can you do rider switch at rope drop or are there any CMs at the front of the queue at that time?

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  7 месяцев назад

      You can, there are always CMs. But they may tell you it’s not necessary depending on the ride. Like you’ll walk right on both times and the switch pass is useless.
      But if you’re going to the popular ones, then absolutely yes.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  7 месяцев назад

      A lot of it has to do with DAS and Wheelchair returns. Because that ride is so popular, it gets a lot of DAS return requests. And that line is always long too, but the space for the line is small, so they have to keep pumping everyone through to the detriment of the standby.
