Uh, Copycat? Starfox Adventures is not a spinoff, despite it having a drastic change of gameplay. It's canon to the Starfox universe, as the character introduced there, Krystal, would appear again in titles after it
I do understand that but a very large portion of the game was finished without it even being thought as a star fox series title, only reason I added it
I agree that it's not a spinoff, but canonicity isn't what defines that. Canvas Curse, Mass Attack, Epic Yarn, and Rainbow Curse are all Kirby spinoffs, but most people consider them canon. Same with the Mario and Luigi series and the two Zelda Four Swords games
"pokemon masters is impossible to play without paying" Me, who's sunk 0 dollars into the game and is succesfully tackling its endgame difficulty content after casually playing for a month and a half: sure, jan
Nah, I think you've got it wrong on Wario's Woods. I don't disagree with the levels you show being boring, because the early levels are. Once you get to the 40s, the difficulty ramps up and creates a lot of tension. It's not ground breaking compared to Tetris, Dr. Mario, or Puyo Puyo. But it is different enough and actually holds up today without nostalgia.
C’mon man. Nice video, but I was so sad when you didn’t mention the Pokémon mystery dungeon games. Most of them where decent, but explorers of sky/time/darkness is one of my favorite games for the story alone. Really fun dungeon exploration mechanics is definitely a bonus though. Seriously if you haven’t heard about them I implore you to play the second game in the series. Each game has a different story so it doesn’t matter if you skip to the second.
Actually Samus does apears in Federation Force, it's incredible important to the story (and possibly the future of the saga) and the game is somewhat fun with friends, but to be honest I don't blame anyone for saying the game is bad, people who also didn't played it get pretty upset when someone praise this game even a little.
Great video, I know these require lots of work but I would have liked to see a runner up or two. Federation force gets too much hate it wasn't actually bad and I don't count mario run so would likrd to have seen another option there as well
I'm surprised Link's crossbow training and Hyrule warriors weren't mentioned. They are really fun and I love these games! They are also incredibly unique
Sticker Star, Pokemon Masters, Fire Emblem Heroes, Four Sword Adventures, and Federation Force are all really good games, though. Obviously, you had to go with Federation Force as the worst one, since there are only two spinoffs in the entire franchise, but you could have at least talked about the good parts of it instead of harping on the fact that people disliked it, which they only did because it was different, not because it was bad. Four Sword Adventures is also a really good game. Sure, the multiplayer was expensive, but you can play it and really enjoy it in single player, which was my first experience with the Zelda franchise as a whole. Plus, you could have talked about things like Link's Crossbow Training and the CDi games, which are almost universally hated. Also, I would disagree with Star Fox Adventures being the best Star Fox spinoff simply because I consider a mainline entry. Aside from those, though, I either agree with the placement of or haven't played all of the games on this list
Specifically about Federation Force. Let me ask you this, if a game entirely changes the core of the franchise it is in and excludes its iconic protagonist, can it truly be considered "really good"? (Not even a big Metroid fan, can just see that if I didn't know Federation Force was a Metroid game, I would not think it's a Metroid game with my outsider knowledge, whereas Metroid pinball has things that are ironic to the franchise to a point that even I can tell it is a game within the Metroid franchise.) Different doesn't inherently mean bad. That is correct. But changing the identity of a franchise that hasn't seen an entry in many years? Federation Force didn't even need to be called a Metroid game.
@@seansquiers6506 You are missing the point entirely. He is saying that the game, as it is, is really good... Not a good Metroid game but a really good game in general. Federation Force isn't a bad game for the genre it fits into. It isn't a Metroid game in any way but if it had sold without that name it probably would have sold better simply because it wouldn't have put Metroid fans on the defensive.
@@seansquiers6506 Considering that’s exactly what happened with Luigi’s Mansion, I would say that yes, a game can be considered really good when it changes up the formula and removes the iconic protagonist (who is still in Federation Force, you just don’t play as her)
Honestly the spin off Mario titles might be better than most of the mainline series. Also I’m pretty sure that Four Swords Adventures is a mainline game in the Zelda series.
HYP might be a neat idea but yeah, there's a host of technical issues and also so little to _do_ in it that as cool as the idea was, it has aged into trash
Gonna have to disagree with you on Wario's Woods....I got addicted to that game during quarantine on the NES Switch Online and I couldn't rest till I finished it. It's very underrated. Overall enjoyed this video though! Keep up the great work.
I will not hear any Wario's Woods slander! That game is still crazy addicting and in the upper eschelon of puzzle games. I'd kill for a new one or at least for Nintendo to acknowledge the superior SNES version exists.
For the Legend of Zelda series, I enjoyed playing Four Swords Adventures. I only played alone without having to use a Game Boy Advance. I don't like Cadence of Hyrule since it is an Indie game and does not deserve to be an actual Zelda game. For Metroid, I feel bad about Metroid Prime Federation Force. It does feature Samus but as a non-playable character. As for Fire Emblem, I had a lot of fun playing Fire Emblem Heroes. It is one of the best mobile games I ever played.
I don't care what you say about Wario's woods and Kirby's block ball. Now I do agree that the other spin-offs from Kirby are better than Kirby's block Ball but I still enjoyed Kirby's block ball playing it on the super game boy back in the day. As for wario's woods I actually never played it back when it first came out. My first experience with it was downloading it on the Wii virtual console and actually I still play it nowadays on the NES online service on switch and enjoy it quite a lot. It gets really challenging the further you get into the game. Those enemies that you can only kill diagonally which my friends and I would call diagonal b****** just for fun really spiced up the challenge even in multiplayer. I do wish that on the SNES online service on switch I can play well the SNES version of this game instead of the NES version though. And as for Yoshi's cookie I absolutely do love that game a whole lot and the SNES version is easily the best, but it seems that Nintendo never re-releases that one. The puzzle game called Yoshi I actually do find a lot of fun to play, but yeah I do agree it's actually pretty flawed.
I enjoy both yoshi and warios woods. Warios woods is a better game tho. I have very little desire to go back to Yoshi. But warios woods sounds like a fun way to kill 30 minutes. Maybe an hour if I'm in the right mood. I have played warios woods btw. It's genuinely fun once you get the hang of it.
Also I never heard of the Kirby brick breaker thing but I quite enjoy brick breaker and anything that puts any kinda spin on that is much appreciated. Unless it sucks. It didn't look bad tho. Maybe unoriginal but brick breaker with a Kirby skin unoriginal or not sounds like a good time. Even if it's short
I thought i'd mention this when you said that Samus wasn't anywhere in federation force. Assuming you haven't played the game fully Samus does in fact actually appear in the game though not playable (course there was a samus skin you were able to use through her amiibo) I'm just going to go ahead a spoil it sense you can no longer play online (its pretty dead now) Samus was the final boss.
It's a crossover, so if there is/will be a list on that it should be there (i think there was but cant remember if it was this channel) but still somewhat counts as a spin-off.
Star Fox: Guard isn't really a bad experience. Rather, it's a much better experience than the flat-out broken Star Fox: Zero, as it's at least playable and intuitive. Still, in this franchise you really only have two games to work with in this category (one, depending on what you count Adventures as), and they're not overly great or terrible.
