I love how this game acknowledges how influential the music was of those eras, the 60s-80s and plays them occasionally throughout the game. I nearly freaked out when I found out the game was in the Cold War. I love that era for the history and whatnot.

My uncle fought in Vietnam back in 1968 (the date is pretty close to this mission) and in the letters sent to my grandmother during his time there he actually was in a Huey armada. Unfortunately I never got to ask him what it was like because he passed away because of cancer. According to my mom, it was because of his exposure to Agent Orange while he was there.
This little part of the campaign made me want to deploy again lmao. Every helicopter elongated helicopter ride I had some headphones in and it was nothing but vibes~
I used to replay the Vietnam missions of BOCW so much, the campaign in general was fantastic. Then i got BO1 for my PS3 and..let's just say i didn't regret it
"Aww man Adler, why do I got the felling that you're bout to give us some bad news?" "Because you're a smart guy Sims" This is easily the best line in the whole campaign
An interesting thing to note is that Magic Carpet Ride was released in September 1968, while this mission takes place in January 1968. At first, this seems like a minor goof by the developers....(Spoilers below) ....until you remember that this mission never actually happened at all. It was a fabricated memory implanted into Bell to make them believe they fought in Vietnam and that they’d been friends with Adler for that long. Adler probably didn’t think or care too much about what new music would’ve actually been out in early 1968, he more than likely chose Magic Carpet Ride because it was a song he heard later in the war and it would’ve fit quite well. If this is indeed the reason the song appears in the game a few months out of date, then it’s a small stroke of genius on the developer’s part.
that's nothing. The Helicopter they're flying is UH-1N Twin huey which wasn't introduced until early 70s and It the sound it makes is so Bad. They Had UH-1H Model and sound files from first Black Ops why were they so lazy ? The game looks and feels good in some instances but Lazy in others especially when you're familiar with some of the details
Played this mission with Spotify on listening to this song and it was perfect. Up and including the hill top part where you fly the helicopter. Wouldve been better if I hung out the door with an m60. Also sympathy for devils is good to for this as well.
