Oh wow! You promised that you would make this video in your last video. Good for you and I am happy to watch it. Sorry you missed the RedBull event, but really great to see this mammoth ski hill near your home. I am not a skier, but if I was, this would truly be a fun experience, no doubt! Thanks so much. Looking forward to the the next video for sure.
They should turn this into a permanent ski flying hill so every year there will be a lot of attention and revenue streaming into Iceland. The natural and sheltered slope means it would be easy to make this profitable. Given the bad outlook for winter sports in Europe due to incoming climate change this would be a perfect alternative location.
Well, that sounds very interesting! The Red Bull people are really crazy, only topped by the people who actually do the stunts. Lets hope everything works to plan, and its not too warm or too wet soon.
Absolutely beautiful workmanship. Hope to see the ski event, but if not music video will be awesome. Take care and thanks for sharing the beauty of Iceland
Wow! This ski area looks fantastic! As a long time skier I envy you for such wonderful snow. This mammoth jumping hill is also absolutely stunning. I wonder who will try to beat the record... I'm looking forward to your next videos, whatever they will be about. All warm my heart. Take care!
Beautiful landscape covered by snow. I hope the record attempt is successful. It seems a little late in the season, but I don't know the weather in that area.
Akureyri is so beautiful covered in snow ❄️ I really look forward to visit again. That road from Akureyri to olaffjordur is Epic we took it to stay Siglufjördur I look forward to see what it’s like covered up in snow … we went last November there was already some snow but nothing like what you just shown on this little vlog. Iceland 🇮🇸 has a very special place in heart it makes me happy and makes my heart smiles ❤ Always happy to watch your beautiful vlogs as always Take care and thank you 🙏🏼 Sabrina🇫🇷🇬🇧
Oh it's so beautyful thank you so much for sharing this whit us . This is a great opertunity for the ski lovers.....You are making beatifull vidéos. Thank you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😘😘
Spectacular! Such a beautiful landscape. I spent a very happy hour doing a virtual walk around Akureryi the other day. It's a lovely city with some wonderful buildings - even if the local people are a bit strange. Thanks for the video.
I live in a state in the upper USA and we do ski jumping here as well. Not like off a mountain! Our hill is Silvermine Ski Jump. It's 351 feet.... considered one of the largest ski jumps in the country. They host an annual international tournament with jumpers from all over the world. We have had a few local jumpers compete in the Olympics. There are many earlier settlers here from Norway (including mine!), Sweden and Finland. I guess skiing and ski jumping have been part of the area for a hundred years! But off a mountain??? I'd be very interested in seeing the event in Iceland!!
É um lugar absolutamente lindo, de tirar o fôlego. Um belíssimo cenário para recordes do esqui. A tradução trouxe que você avistou um gato com o drone, é isso mesmo? Saudações do Brasil!
Really pretty, I especially like the shot at the end of the lava spire. What an unusual formation that is. I don't know about that ski jump, though . Warmer weather is coming soon.
"the local people are a bit strange..." - are you trying to make new friends...? But in fact, the often slightly "strange people" is something I liked in the books of Haldor Laxness...
Ski jumpers are a weird bunch. During the Calgary Olympics in 1988 - some of you might remember England's contributor "Eddie the Eagle"! I've never understood going down a slope crazy fast on 2 sticks to hopefully land standing up! Hope you catch the event Gylfi!
the 300m skijump is rumored to be built for years now, would be intresset who will be the one to set the record there, years ago gregor schlierenzauer which were a red bull athlet was a big candidate.
@@JustIcelandic Ah....so I'm assuming this place must have held some significance in the past - or was it defensive structure to see people coming up the fjord?
Akureyri is the world record holder in Scandinavian ski jumping FIS will not (yet) recognize it.it is the longest jump in history og ski jumping: 291 meters performed by Ryōyū Kobayashi.
@@busydadscooking001 English spelling can be challenging. My favorite misspelling is "the right to bare arms". What? Roll up your sleeves? Wear a tank top?

Northern Iceland is stunningly gorgeous!! Have a wonderful week!! Thank you.
Thank you! You too!
Loved the comment 'the local people are a bit strange'. Could be applied all round the world...... 😂

Bit frustration how little info we get about this, but it's getting warmer soon

It's still snowing so the window for this has to be open for some time more.
Wow, wow, wow ❤ !! Wish I could be there for this event. Thank you for the fantastic views Gylfi.
Welcome to Iceland :)

Spendid Video, nice scenery and great learning more about Iceland. Many Thanks Gylfi, with kind regards and best wishes from NZ.
Very interesting and informative. The last footage of the lava spire is absolutely awe-inspiring ❤
What is the typical length of the Icelandic ski season?
December to April/May pending on weather, sometimes shorter

Who is doing the Jump? Evel KnevelleGodsunsdottir??
It's all here :) ruclips.net/video/ngddfxog-yw/видео.html
According to Shawn you are planning a collaboration with him. I'm so excited!! It should be amazing.

Eddie has much improved over the years, he is this red bull event's stunt guy.😂
When is the event?
Cant say, no information, not even the staff in the mountain could tell
Beautiful scenery, I hope you get some video of the competition.
I hope so too!
That looks exciting! In a terrifying sort of way. 😮 🎉
Wow, that will be some jump!!
Extreme sport for sure :)
Are they also going for the highest downhill speed record or something?
Ski jump :)

Yes, and fun to film it :)
u have beautiful land in Iceland = thank u for the Tourist Guidence, my friend 🌳🌳🌳🌳🦉
Thanks for visiting
0:42 Uh. What's that? I'm sure the locals are taking bets on the horses - uh I mean - participants.
Just a landmark on the mountaintop, cairn
@@JustIcelandic Ah....so I'm assuming this place must have held some significance in the past - or was it defensive structure to see people coming up the fjord?
The jump is now on the Red Bull channel.
That's an interesting project. Lotta snow to move still.
fabulous stuff.
Appreciated :)
🎿 Amazing - the nearest I ever got to ice sport was in an ice rink ⛸ 🥶🤕🤣
Welcome to try the new platform, I'm sure it's fun :)
It is tempting to visit Akureyri, but I have doubts it's suitable for those who doesn't drive or like skiing, even if enamoured in nature.
Wow that looks interesting showed my son he's into Red bull sports
Enjoy :)
And it happened❤
Whoa… Rad!
Welcome
And just like that, the record happened

Wow!
Welcome
I’m surprised the Iceland government allowed Red Bull to sponsor it.
You meant "break", Gylfi. Brake means to slow a car.
Yes. Hopefully can change without reupload. But to be fair also I see this alllllll the time with English speakers too,
Fixed :)

Written English and dictionaries are necessary companions.😂
@@saywhat8966 Yup. It's a mongrel language, so it's a mess.
Ice, snow, cold. I don’t like them.
The landscape looks beautiful though.
May the ski jumpers stay alive and may the best one win 😅
So beautiful....
Thanks a lot 😊
You should angle for a sponsorship to do drome work for the event!
👍😁🤩🍀thank you.
Welcome 😊
The world is a stage..
👍
Break?
Noted :) thanks
Standard snowboard fail at 3 minutes.
👍
I hope no neck will get broken in the event - it wouldn’t be the first time in a Red Bull event…
No ski jumping occurred in the making of this video. That's 5 minutes I'll never get back.
GO BOIS> Fis is so boring right now. We need something new.

WOW WEE !!!
