    I bought one new in '87 and kept it for seven years. It had 14,000 miles on it when I sold it in 1994. I wanted to cry seeing it leave my garage for the last time.

      We actually looked into trying to get a GNX in 1987, however they were selling for WAY over list price for "Market Value Adjustment". Very similar to what Dodge was doing when they were screwing their long time customers who were trying to purchase Hellcats.

    I have an all original 87 with 50k on it. I’m the second owner. The previous owner had the car re cleared and it came out really good. The paint gets a lot of compliments at shows. If your still looking for suggestions

    I would do it up a little bit if i was you as long as you do it tastfully because your not gonna get rid of it for it being your dads so your not giving no disrespect from doing it plus you will enjoy it so much more just by doing a few simple things like you said like front mount intercooler bigger injectors and what ever else you think of.

    Take your charcoal canister out and move that K&N filter under the AC lines. Just leave the vent line for the canister. It will give you more room. I've owned and raced these since 87 and so much stuff you can do. Eric Marshall at Turbotweak sells the best chips on the market.

    Sorry about you losing your dad buddy. Your GN is absolutely beatiful and with low miles its even better, i had a 87 GN and a 87 white T TYPE and loved them both. Sold the GN because i went through some bad times and totalled the T Type which made me sick for a year because like a idiot i didnt have full coverage insurance and the car was mint with only 24000 miles on the whole car and all stock except a chip and K&N cold air system. Good luck with yours, back when i owned my 2 babys they werent sought out after like today so i didnt really appreciate what i had but they are one hell of a car and head turner.

    Factory alternator is 120 amps it is great. The voltage booster deal for pump is due to voltage drop from wiring. Less than 12 at pump. U need to download MAF Translator instructions. Get a modern chip from Turbo Tweak. My T dropped 13.8 stock 13.2 with chip gutted cat and boost at 19# When BFG Drag Radials came out it went 12.3. Still all stock turbo/injectors/down pipe/intercooler.
    They make TA series turbos that look stock. Turbo Tweak makes great chips and has a translator called Axis where u can +- timing or fuel. A good torque converter will do wonders.
    First thing though Replace Timing Chain Set. Has plastic coated gears that cracks and comes off

    87 GN here and the powermaster works fine if you maintain clean fluid in it. Most people don’t flush the lines and the rubber diaphragm gets eaten. You also need to depressurize the accumulator ball (“hand grenade” )by pumping the pedal 10-15 if you are going to not drive the car a week or more.

    • @blakesmusclecar
      @blakesmusclecar  5 месяцев назад

      Great point! That's probably what killed this one, as my Dad wouldn't ever hardly drive the car for decades.

      @@uptownsamcv Some people go with 3 inch. I'm good with the power I'm making right now. If I was gonna go up in power it would do roller rockers, maybe a different cam, probably run e85 and look into a aftermarket ecu to control it. It does sound bad as far as exhaust goes but the old GM v6s really weren't about exhaust noise like the newer v6 are. My typhoon is loud as hell with the 3 inch exhaust.

      @jdgreen214 6 месяцев назад

      @@uptownsamcv The guy who builds grandnationals, Steve V out of Virginia he has years of experience I think he did some tests on different exhausts. I think the biggest upgrade as far as exhaust goes are the TA headers. I'm not 100 percent sure what his recommendations are for higher than 500hp cars. I think once you start using aftermarket internals and different cams bigger may be better. From the buick forums the 2.5 and 3inch flow about the same but you get a deeper sound from the 3inch.

    Powermaster is what the brake system is called. Mine went bad on me soon as i got my 20k dollar worth of work done car back from being restored. I used the monte carlo ss brake booster with the pedal change.
