Great content, thanks. The iCloud archive folder is the one that I had forgotten about. One tip I always use: instead of constantly looking for and using menus etc., I just hit 'command' and the space bar, and start to type in where i want to go ("storage" "iCloud", etc.). You don't even have to type the whole thing; it will autofill and all you have to do is hit 'enter' and you'll be there.
I went from 759 GB to 498 GB. Insane!! Thank you so much!! I remember when our PCs had 2 and 4GB and were like “that will never get full” Little did we know. lol
I’ve been a faithful follower for years and thank you for everything. I saved 43.32 gigs in HDD space, but in the process located 356 gigs of replicated partial photo archives. I will be carefully merging this back into my main backup. After recovering the photo archive the grand total is 399.92. Clearly with pictures being my largest file types. I had to comment before I got sidetracked, but these figures are all before a good ol fashioned reboot. On a 2011 iMac 1TB HDD, this is substantial. Cheers to you, buddy.
I consider myself to be fairly tech-savvy and LOVE my Mac! I just discovered your channel and wow the wealth of information is incredible. Thank you! I'm probably the one person in the word right now saying "Oh yeah I'm binging on Mac videos." :)
Thank you so much, David. I got 126 GB of space back. I had old iOS backups, photo, and music libraries. Also, I had about 20 Gb of download files including MacOs installation files.
I typically try to stay on top of things on my Mac but decided to do the exercise just in case. I went from 262gb available to 266gb. My biggest issue was the podcast downloads! Thanks
Thank you for the information. It seemed after you moved to the lower desert, not many video were done and I lost track of your help. I am glad to have found them again. Low desert? Yes I live in Yucca Valley. Perhaps someday we will run into each other. Perhaps if you and David ever go to Las Casuelas, Tara and I might meet you there for lunch. But for right now, we are staying up were it is cool or cooler. We have an Aussie and even trimmed, she does not like the the warmth of the lower desert at this time of year. I do enjoy your videos and have signed up for your email newsletter as I have missed them.
Start - 139.97gb End - 147.22 - most were in the Photos section . . . all those pesky logos that come through in emails. Would love to make that stop. Thanks!
Always, ALWAYS informative and, by the way, fun to watch. Unfortunately (as it were), I have Clean My Mac and being an old(er) mainframe computer guy, I'm a bit of a geek cleaning up after myself, making sure my apps don't leave any junk behind and such. So in the end, using your hints I cleaned about 700mb of stuff. But, still fun to watch.
David, allow me to share a possible solution to this magic mouse zooming effect which I found on RUclips! You tried to help me once but did not tried twice. System preferences, Mouse, Zoom....untick! So easy!
Well I just have to say that I just found your RUclips Channel & I love it so I have a Mac Mini M1 2020 with 16gb of Ram and I have a 1 TB of Local Hard Drive space & I am running Sonoma 14.1.1 & I have other friends who have bought the iMac with the M2 chip in it and we have both have started to notice that lately our computers have not been running as fast as they should have especially after Operating System updates. I would like to know is this just us or if this is starting to happen to other people because I love my Mac Mini but when I bought it I bought it thinking that I wouldnt have to buy another computer for a while I have a 13" Macbook Air and after updates it is worse then that Mac Mini any thoughts or is anyone else running into this issue
Got 11.89gb freed up (took 2 hours ish.. I got distracted) had alot of ancient podcasts I'd never listen to; had a hard time deleting them though, my late fiance added those but there were a lot, plus was still downloading current podcasts. Also had a bit to delete in the Music folder - mobile whatever it was. I didn't get into the similar photos tonight, that's a problem for another day. I now have a lot of system data & macOS (about 124gb +/-) is that normal? can any of that be offloaded to time machince/airport? is airport still active? i now need to use it to free up space but I've lost the power cord over the years, should I order a new cord? I have (most of) it, I need it, and I'm not familiar with alternate options aside from icloud which id just need to keep buying more and more space lol Thanks for the awesome help!
David~ NEED YOUR HELP. GOT A NEW 2023 m-2 Mac Mini. I have an older 27” iMac, would like to use it as the Monitor. Do you know what kind of cable I would need.?
Hi, Thanks for the video, I only have 30GBs of files/ Data in my Mac, and only a few apps, and it's taking all my 499GBs of space in Mac, followed through the whole video, but the storage remains same, I'd appreciate your help, Thanks
I'm getting stuck on first hurdle. Did the View > show status Bar. Then spend Applications on the side bar but there is nothing telling me how much space is available at the bottom of the screen. I'm using a 27-inch 2020 mac Mac OS Sonoma 14.3 any help given would be great
Hi there, if I downloaded music from the internet, and it was corrupted without my knowlege...saved in TimeMachine...will the corrupted files re-infect the Mac? Thank you for you guidance over the years and answering the question in advance. 👍
Hi, I am running Monterey. In my apps folder I have "install macOS Monterey" which is 12 gigs. do I need it after Monterey is already intalled or can I erase it and get back 12 gigs? thx
I've got zero files removed. Almost everything you have said is not applicable to me and I have a very old MAC. Apple cleaner download- which version to download if I have Monterey 12.6.3. Anyhow I downloaded what appears the latest but it didn't do anything. By the way I removed Apple None of these showed up, or was empty: iCloud Drive Archives in Home Folder Old iPhoto Libraries Second/Extra Photo Libraries Mobile Applications Podcasts & Podcast Settings Dropbox Time Machine Files Old Backups of Old Devices on iCloud
That's impressive indeed! Could you share more details about what was deleted so we can work on our app and improve your future experience CleanMyMac X?
@@TechTalkAmerica iMac I freed up 26GB! Wow. It was a combination of stuff. I also looked at your class on cleaning up the Downloads folder and trashed everything there. The shortcuts you showed us are super handy. Thank you.
Hello David!! A huge fan since I transitioned to Mac in 2016! Watched ALL your videos, and YOU actually learned me how Mac/iOS works and operates! A great THANK YOU!!! Subscribed since then, bought some of your lessons, etc, etc! Big question and I desperately need YOUR help, please!!! On my iMac, when I scroll with my magic mouse, the screen suddenly zoom in!!! Happens all the time and it drives me crazy!! What causes this and how can I permanently fix this?? Thank you so much David!! Hope you enjoyed traveling down under, mate!!!
So glad you have enjoyed my videos over the years. If you go into system settings and go to the accessibility menu, you’ll find an option called zoom. That’s what you accidentally turned on most likely
@@TechTalkAmerica David, none of the boxes in Zoom is ticked, not switched on. How on earth can my screen just zoom in all the time? I am just using my mouse normally? It never did it! Sorry for bothering you, but please try to help me🙏
@@TechTalkAmerica Yeah, nothing wrong with this video, just I read it in the list of new videos as "how to clean your screen" (which I could Probalby stand to do). BTW, I only saved about 4Gb of space - most of what you suggest I already have dealt with.

I recovered about 100GB, this is unbelievable.
My iPhone backup and hidden files were taking up so much space.
