My assumption with those letters is that C=chromatic, G=guitar, B=bass, V=???, U=ukulele, and if that's true then the safest and most accurate setting is C. And with that, assuming you have a standard Merlin you'll want to tune to DADD. If you have a Merlin with 3 thicker wound strings (not plain wire) and numbers on the frets, then you have an SG model that's tuned GDGG. Does that help?
If you have one that’s tuned to DAD(D) you canny tune it to GDG(G) without changing strings. The tension on the D set will be too low (or high) so they’ll just flop around or snap. And if you want to go to G you’ll need to look at different gauges and possibly a different bridge saddle. Sounds like a lot, but if you intend to keep it in G not D it’s not too much. Hope that helps!
But, but, but I *enjoy* talking. How else would you know HOW to tune it? Also, you know there's a speed feature on YT? I use it all the time. Thanks for the feedback. ;-)

You talked way too much when all I needed was to get my Merklin back in tune. Could you just give us a chord , let us/ me make sure we're tuned right??! Thanks then save all that other stuff. My goodness
Out of curiosity, if you know what it should sound like and are simply trying to match that, why don't you have a tuner? That would be faster than hunting for a video in hopes that it has what you want (and then complaining about it when it doesn't)
Thank you! Great info!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video.
Most welcome!!
2:50 ish is what I needed
Thank you anyway appreciate you're knowledge....
most welcome, happy playing!
I aged watching and waiting.
well, i guess i'm glad you stuck it out.
So, how do I know what settings for my digital tuner? It has C, G, B, V, & U.

@@HeyInglewood V=Violin?
Why is this a 10 minute video
because it wasnt long enough to make it an 11 minute video?
I have a d model. I can tune it in g?

THANKS!!!

Glad to help
4 keys and 3 strings. Why?
It's 4 strings, but the top is doubled like a mandolin. But you think and play as if it were 3 strings.
Stop talking!
Just tune the thing!
