I have a bunch of Lands End bags in various sizes and have stuffed them with books, etc. They've never failed. When one of my bags got dirty a year after I got it - literally minor scuffs, I was told I could return it and get a replacement for free as they have a lifetime warranty. Lands End does offer a zip top version and customization. I love the inside pockets. Never had an issue with mine other than my smaller one with a black print fading when I washed it. I've used them for work, play - even MOVING! Keep an eye out for the Land's End sales. I got all of mine on the cheap - literally half price or less on special sales.

I love them! The medium is I think the perfect tote size, the large is... very large. It holds a ton (and I feel overpacked when I use that one).
Thank you so very much. I ordered an L.L. Bean Ex-large, long handle, monogrammed boat tote. I need as much space as I can get. I'm a high school, special education teacher, co-teaching all four subjects. With the social distancing, we have to travel and keep our belongings with us. Just ordered the Lands End medium tote with long straps. Looking for a eco friendly bag. Excited to get it. But now, I’m wondering if I SHOULD have went with LLBEAN...sigh.
I’m a Coach tote Queen. Lol. And also, check out Portland Leather. Pricey, yes, BUT beautiful leather and will last forever.
Lands End Totes are great and have some nice features that LLBean Totes don’t have! I’m sure you’ll LOVE it!
Hi, do you find the boat and tote to be heavy at all? Thinking about getting it in large and wondering if the medium is already heavy on its own.
Depends on what you put in it! But yes, I have packed it with papers/books so that it’s gotten very heavy, and then it can hurt to carry on one side.
I watched this video for the size comparison - ordering a medium, short handled Lands End bag for my daughter for her daycare/overnight with grandparents bag. Do you think it'll be a good size!?!
Yes, I do. You might not be able to get it over your shoulder, but carrying it in your hand it shouldn’t hit the ground.
I’ve used mine for overnight trips.
Other nice totes similar to these:
- totes made by Parrott canvas (american made, double stiched, nice finish,... )
- leather bucket tote made by saddleback (no zipper option)
Saddleback is a great option too. So is Copper River bags, but they’re pretty heavy.
Hey friend, do you think the medium or large boat and tote would work better for a gym bag/overnight bag?
Either, depending on how much you pack. (If you’re packing a coat or large sweatshirt or pillow, go large. In the summer, I imagine medium would be enough for most people.)

Hi! Is the lands end tote short or long handle? I can’t decide!
When I have the option, I prefer long handle. However, I loved the pineapple embroidery I got (embroidery is limited edition) and it was only the regular length. If it’s not overfill or carrying something tall, I can get it over my shoulder with no problem.
How wide is that laptop? I want to get the medium zip top land's end bag, but my laptop is 11 inches wide, which looks smaller than what you have. Would I be able to fully fit my laptop in the medium bag?
I think this laptop is 15”. The specs on the Medium LLBean boat and tote are that it’s 13” wide- so your 11” laptop should fit with no problem. I could get my 15” in if I carried only minimum stuff, so I usually just put it in so it was taller than the bag and that worked ok.
You should be fine with the medium bag.

@@cassball7 No. but there are options with a single outside pocket on their site. The Lands End ones have quite a few pockets inside.
