My tip is: Check the tide schedule before you go, so you know how close to the water you can set up. Low tide is good for surfing. If the tide is coming up, dig a hole to make a tide pool. (High tide is rough for toddlers because of shore break)
I always tell my daughter this when going with her friends.

A lot of public beaches don't allow umbrellas because they blow away, even with the corkscrew tips.
I get it but that's awful. I burn with a tent and 2 umbrellas!😅
