    Well, Mace was a prick…. I can kind of understand why they did not like him. Mace had absolutely no idea how to command ground troops. It’s like being an elite special forces unit of nighttime commandos that operate at night and this guy put you out at high noon in broad daylight and expect you to do the same thing without the cover of darkness, like you’ve been trained.

    Clone Wars show this as well. The Clones respected Anakin, Ahsoka, and Obi-Won at times but hated most of the other Jedi. The Jedi often saw the Clones as disposable robots and not real people. Even Obi-Won hints at that in the opening of Revenge of the Sith during the space battle.

      Same. Maybe he was different in The Clone Wars series, but he kinda rubbed me the wrong way in Revenge of the Sith, as he came across to me as dismissive and insensitive towards Anakin's struggles with the loss of his mother and his anxieties about Padme.
      He also seemed to me to have a bit of a bias against Anakin in ROTS due to thinking he never should have been trained or allowed into the Jedi Order at all for that matter. He seemed to have this attitude towards Anakin that no matter what, Anakin would never be good enough or fully accepted as a true member. He just didn't seem to have hardly any respect for Anakin.
      And as someone who felt some relatability to Anakin and looked up to Anakin in some way, I guess I felt like I myself was being dismissed or disrespected by Windu whenever he scolded Anakin or brushed him aside. Hence, the feeling of being rubbed the wrong way. When seeing the prequels, especially ROTS in particular, I respected Windu for his impressive strength and skill, but in the back of my mind, I guess I felt like he was kind of a d*ck in terms of personality.

  • @IrishEyes1994
    @IrishEyes1994 8 месяцев назад +10

    To answer your question, I'd say the two issues get two different answers.
    Killing Jango: That I think the commandos could have gotten over. They respected more than loved Jango. As you said it was mostly other mercenaries that trained the commandos, and they viewed those mercenaries as parents more from what I remember. In addition, Jango picked the fight with Windu and even the commandos couldn't condemn Windu for not wanting to die. They'd always resent him for it on some level, but frankly it's likely Jango would have been their enemy soon after if Windu didn't kill him.
    As for the getting them butchered because Windu is an idiot: There isn't enough words in all the languages in both the real world and star wars universe to create the right phrases to overcome that. Commando missions in general require absolute trust from the bottom up, and Windu violated that in the worst way imaginable by sending them into infantry combat and ignoring their skills. The fact that the commandos almost certainly saw many of the other Jedi behaving in an non-militaristic manner that was getting people killed would have further alienated them. On top of this, they saw most of the people that were their brothers getting slaughtered due to incompetance. While true, most clones saw each other as brothers, the 4 man commando squads were true brothers in every sense, they lived, ate and trained together 24/7, they practically had no lives outside of that cell. Some of the cells had 3 out of 4 wiped out. Hell, this wasn't mentioned in the video, but Omega Squad was pulled together from those orphans. Omega was made up of commandos who had lost all their squadmates. No way that would be overcome. Windu would never be forgiven, and the other Jedi would have to bend over backwards to gain even a small amount.
    All this is without even considering the Mandalorian culture element, which can be admittingly more hit or miss. Like any group, some did have a fervent undying hate for force sensitives, others were more casual and mostly did it as a joke, and others did develop a respect for them. It varied wildly.

      It's all nonsense. Geonosis was a baptism by fire for everyone. No one there had any experience except for a few individual Jedi who had faced droids before. The Jedi and clones had never worked together before and were thrown in.

    • @anton.chigrinetc.96
      @anton.chigrinetc.96 7 месяцев назад

      I fully agree that objectively, it was nonsense: noone in the Order was ready to command the army, and at that point, Windu was a much better fighter on the field than a field commander. That being said, clones were trained to fight alongside Jedi, so they were wrongfully given an assumption Jedi were prepared. Which was wrong, but Clones still believed it. As a result, when Jedi started making mistakes, some relationships went sideways. I completely resent the idea, however, that ALL of the Jedi were bad commanders.

      @IrishEyes1994 7 месяцев назад

      @@anton.chigrinetc.96 Oh yeah, some were amazing commanders. Like Oppo Ranchis, I may have misspelled his name. He had battle meditation which made him a perfect commander. Aayla Secura also seemed a pretty good leader, more tactical than strategic in my opinion but you need both. Anakin seemed to adapt really well to tactical command, and Obi-wan seemed good, though I feel he should have been more strategic command because some of his tactical command was too Jedi-oriented. Overall my issue with Mace is that he showed a clear lack of wisdom. Not understanding how to command an army when you have no experience is one thing and something even the clones could have gotten over, but not realizing you don't know what you're doing or being too arrogant to admit it is a clear lack of wisdom. Wisdom isn't knowing everything, it's knowing that you don't know everything

They are Force warriors, they have the innate ability for calculating strategy and tactics just by a virtue of slowing events down around them and being able to forsee things ten thousand steps ahead. Before Filoni came up with inhibitor chips idea (the only good idea by far he had), authours went great lengths of mental gymnastics to try "explain" the Order 66, as if Jedi were sort of a version of IRL Communist Commissars who were only good at sabotaging "ideologically incorrect" orders of Red Army commanders and sending troops to their inevitable demise (even though in fact, many of them found it more ideologically correct, if the enemy of the their revolution was destroyed by whatever means necessary and were just as eager to go fight and die with their troops...you know...like the Jedi).

      While what you said about Vader is true, Jedi themselves could not have been bad commanders by any stretch of logic. At least, not all of them. They were warriors trained for decades, the ability to forsee events ten steps ahead is a part of their training, even if combat was not their specialization, they are taught various disciplines, war-related included (because they are peacekeepers, which means they have to engage in various military matters as well), on such a profound level it would be completely illogical to believe the vast majority of them wouldn't fit in as generals.

    Mace Windu apparently thought he was supposed to be the chosen one when he was a young jedi. When Anakin came on the scene as the real chosen one, Mace let his jealousy of Anakin overtake him and treated Anakin as such. Windu only got his council seat from stabbing his friend Dooku in the back (metaphorically). So yes, on the surface, Windu was an "honorable" jedi, but he was fueled by his own resentment all through the clone wars. How that went unnoticed within the council is beyond me, but, in my humble opinion, Mace Windu has always been a "holier-than-thou" cocky pos who the council only needed for his fighting skills as he was a skilled combatist. But that's all I'm going to give him as far as praise goes. It's because of jedi like him I was less saddened when the jedi order was humbled to its knees and brought to near extinction. Think that made the Council see him as someone more immune to it and put these flaws as necessary for him to use this fighting style. @@breathofapollyon990 There is literally no canonical evidence to support the idea that Mace Windu believed he was the chosen one or that he was jealous of Anakin Skywalker While he may have had concerns about Anakin's emotional attachments and his susceptibility to the dark side, there is no indication that Mace Windu harbored jealousy towards Anakin in legends or in cannon in fact Mace Windu acknowledges that he indeed powerful but lacked control:
      "He is powerful, the second only to Master Yoda. But he is still only a Padawan. And though he is a good friend, he is not yet a wise one. He is too young and, lately, too angry. Anger is the worst enemy of a Jedi, Master Yoda says. He knows this better than I do. Yet his is not the anger of the dark side, the malicious rage that leads to hate, and to suffering, and death. His is the quick, hot fury of a man betrayed by his own body, his own strength. His is the white-hot heart of a star in its death throes. He is Anakin Skywalker: bright and powerful and full of life, he is a Jedi Knight, and it is ironic that he has come to embody all that we fear"-Mace Windu
      "Anakin Skywalker is strong in the Force. He is stronger than any Jedi I have ever known. But he is still only a Padawan learner. He has yet to face the trials that will come with knighthood, and we can only hope that he will remain true to the Jedi Code. However, I have sensed a great deal of turmoil within him. His emotions are volatile, and he struggles to control them. This inner conflict could prove to be his greatest challenge as he continues his journey toward becoming a Jedi Knight"-Mace Windu
      "Anakin Skywalker is a formidable Jedi Knight, his skills in the Force and with a lightsaber are unmatched by many. However, he is not without his flaws. His emotions often cloud his judgment, and his inner turmoil threatens to consume him. While his strength is undeniable, his path is fraught with danger. As Jedi, it is our duty to guide and mentor him, but we must also be mindful of the darkness that lurks within him."-Mace Windu
      "Anakin is perhaps the most powerful Jedi alive. His skills in the Force are exceptional, and he wields a lightsaber with unmatched proficiency. However, that power comes with a price. Anakin is passionate, often allowing his emotions to guide him. While this intensity makes him a formidable warrior, it also exposes him to the dangers of the dark side. As Jedi, we must strive to guide him, help him find balance, and prevent the shadows that threaten to engulf him."-Mace Windu
      "Anakin Skywalker is a Jedi of exceptional talent, unmatched by many of his peers. His connection to the Force is strong, and his prowess in combat is formidable. Yet, there is a darkness within him, a shadow that threatens to consume him. His emotions are a double-edged sword, driving him to greatness but also placing him in peril. As Jedi, we must walk a fine line in guiding him, for the path he treads is fraught with danger."-Mace Windu

Ive just started learning Clone lore (im just getting to season 1 ep14 on bad batch 😅) but i have quickly learned that I really feel strongly for the bond that the clones have with one another. Almost 50% of commandos died in the battle of geononis, after that, their death rate dropped to a very low number, as mentioned in the republic commando novels (i forgot how low though, if anyone has it in their head please respond). Even the best spec ops soldier cant do anything if hes mowed down on an open field or shredded by bombs. They and also the normal clones, whose death rate was also shockingly high in this battle were used like droid cannon fodder. If they were led by actual military commanders, geonosis could have been the first and last battle of this war.

      @@aceclover758 Dude what jealous?There is literally no canonical evidence to support the idea that Mace Windu believed he was the chosen one or that he was jealous of Anakin Skywalker While he may have had concerns about Anakin's emotional attachments and his susceptibility to the dark side, there is no indication that Mace Windu harbored jealousy towards Anakin in legends or in cannon in fact Mace Windu acknowledges that he indeed powerful but lacked control:
      These passages delve into Mace Windu's genuine concern for Anakin Skywalker's well-being and acknowledges his strength in the Force and overall skills as a jedi and as friend.

    The Commandos should have fragged windu right there on Geonosis , the galaxy would have been a lot better off without him .

      Windu himself destroyed 100k droids, he can easily destroy commandos if he wanted to.

    Yes bro as a fellow Star Wars fan I’m growing to Hate Mace Windu even more to
    As further Lore gets exposed or created on the topics of how much the Jedi order under Yoda’s leadership was a done deal long before the clone war started 🤣🤷🏾‍♂️.
    Windu’s arrogance , self righteousness & him “believing” that he was the chosen one himself because of the actions he carries out annoys me to my core to🤣.
    Windu just needs to be quiet more , put a smile on his face from time to time & stop being so disrespectful to Anakin because the guy really did nothing to you on a personal level 🤦🏾‍♂️.
