    My mnemonic :
    Since I study French,
    Arteries (ALLER - to go) go from heart to body
    Veins (VENIR- to come) come to heart from body
    I just remember it like this cuz I have studied French for 3 years these are the most common verbs

    Dr. Khan, you should start making videos for college level classes going into more detail than your other videos on specific topics. Just this past semester, I was taking a genetics course and was struggling to find resources on the internet for my topics such as mitotic recombination and actual application problems for these topics.

    You said that in the arteries there is a high pressure, my question is: why in the pulmonery artery there is low pressure (to allow optimal gaz exchange without broken capillaries)?

    • @gaurichaturvedi3529
      @gaurichaturvedi3529 3 года назад +3

      Because there is no need for high pressure in the pulmonary artery as it has to transport blood to the lungs which are comparatively nearer to the heart

    The video would be complete if it had an explanation for why the pulmonary veins don't have valves (distance too short between the heart and the lungs: answer found on Google). And what about the pulmonary valve?(it's in the interior of the pulmonary artery). Anyway, your video is well done and helped me understand my query.

    the question is how to send blood from the artery to the vein with a needle
    then the needle never has to refill because the artery pushes more
    blood then a vein and the blood in the needle will always stay at one
    point meaning the plunger never goes fully down
    I believe if they put a heater to de oxidize the blood from the artery
    to the vein
    then put the blood in a temperature adjuster they could send blood
    from an artery to a vein
    the purpose would be to temperature control blood which would save
    millions of people lives

Or do I have it backwards can someone please answer for me I've been trying to figure this out for a while. Also what about Ice baths and suanas? Does it mean that arteries carry oxygenated as well as deoxygenated blood?

    • @shiney94
      @shiney94 2 года назад +1

      Arteries carry oxygenated blood
      Whether all the haemoglobin has oxygen in it or not is a different question
      Perhaps 98% have oxygen with some not carrying oxygen; but still arteries would carry oxygenated blood
      The only exception is pulmonary arteries which carry deoxygenated blood
      The reason for this is the definition of artery: a blood vessel that moves away from the heart
      Most arteries are oxygenated by this definition; but NOT pulmomary arteries and even some arteries during embryo development

    Do they keep bringing up medical disasters to peak the interest of mentally unstable anatomy students? So far in the anatomy course, Babies born with holes in their hearts, the Cordae Tendeneae snapping, blood flowing the wrong way, and blood not flowing to the head making you die are all brought up without reason as to why they were brought up.
