Watched your video right after watching the official one from Minn kota… although your video is longer it’s much better at explaining how to use the feature. Thank you for making it and showing us an actual demonstration.
Sob! My buddy hits that button alot when we perch fish & someone gets a bite or a fish so he can move his side of the boat to where the fish are. Thanks bro! Now I know how to do that w my boat too! 👍 Really sucks when he moves & we get tangled up though.
When you’re in spot lock, what determines what front back left or right is? Is it the direction the electric motor is pointing at the time you hit jog.?
Theres an arrow on the heading sensor that you point toward the front of the boat, parallel with keel when you mount it. That is what determines the direction. So forward will always be which ever way the bow of the boat is pointed and so on.
The jog will be 5 feet FRLR in respect to the direction the boat is pointed. That is why he mentioned this works best in a current where the boat is spot locked and pointing in one direction. Another thing I finally noticed is the jog is always started at the point of the trolling motor. The TM moves itself 5 feet.
Seems like people have different experiences with spotlock in still water. I use it every time I fish, alot of times in dead calm water and although it does move a small amount it doesn't affect anything I'm trying to do. Hopefully you'll have the same experience Wilhemina
If the water is still (no current) and there is no wind what causes the boat to change direction with spot lock engaged? You would think any minor drift you have would be corrected by spot lock. I understand the boat can and will pivot about the trolling motor if you have a strong wind catching the side of your boat but then it will likely weathervane into the wind and then you are set. Cast from the bow if you are trying to fish in front of your boat and stern if behind. If the fish are Left or right just wait until the boat weathervanes into the wind or current and then just cast out to the side of your boat.
To correct a mistake in this video, the + button moves you forward and the - button moves you backward. Sorry for the confusion. The up and down arrows do nothing for jog
I didn't quite understand your first comments. I'm new to my Terrova this year. Are you saying spot lock doesn't work properly unless you're in current? I thought it holds itself to a gps location regardless of being in a river or lake. I'm not sure what you meant by saying you're going to be in for a long day?
It will keep you in one spot regardless. The issue is, if there is no current the motor is going to continue to over correct and spin the boat in circles. If you have baits casted out the back they will be a tangled mess. Spot lock will keep the boat in one place AND straingt in current. It will only keep you in one place in slack water
I had that problem with my Terrova overcompensating... Fix: Go into the settings on your remote and look for "Boat Scale". Try going down one setting. Ex. If its on "0" go down to "-1". This will tune down the agressive response while in Spot Lock Mode. IT DOES NOT CHANGE MOTOR TORQUE, as some believe, it only slows the head units response to changing conditions. PS: Keep in mind that it may be necessary to bump the setting back up in more aggresive wind and current. Best results are ALWAYS bow towards current or bow into the wind, depending on your boats behavior.🤙

Glad it helped!!

I just bought and installed the Terrova 55lb. Cant wait to use this feature. Also just subbed.

Definitely works better in current or wind
Great video guys
Thanks much for the great 'splainin'.. d;^)
I calibrated my unit and jog works to the left and right but not forward or reverse. Any suggestions?
Use +for forward and - for reverse. I made a mistake in the video but pinned a comment that corrected it
So how do you use the spot lock trolling motor on steel water
You can spot lock on still water but the boat isnt going to stay straight. Anchor fishing still water with spot lock is a no go

I thought mine was broke. I mashed the up down arrows. Nothing. Left right works great. Thanks for the correction I used the +- and it works.
You are correct! If you don't hear a beep when operating the remote, you have not done anything. Pushing up/down arrows in SpotLock will do nothing.
My remote is locked into spot-lock jog & I can't get back into spot- lock. How do I delete spot-lock jog??
Not sure you can delete it. Have you removed the batteries from your remote? That may work

@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 Ah Ok, yeah I could see that happening with baits being close together. Thanks for the tips!
