Nice video on a lesser known subject. I have even found some pictures with BD jackets used by frontline troops. The trousers were certainly much more common. Apparently most of the uniforms were too small to be issued to fully grown men, even if Finns at the time were rather short.
@@williamdrury5146 yes. Though I assume(and based on photos) with summer tunics would be more common, since the army tried to phase these out of service asap.
@@williamdrury5146 I don't think it's that simple, more like they were worn out and replaced by newly manucatured M/36 trousers. I have no statistics or data and I'm unsure if there is any. All I know is that these trousers aren't that rare in '41(though not exactly common), and become quite rare from there. I personally can't remember seeing any past early '42 but thats's just my memory.
Im guessing a more nutritious diet got the Finns to grow a wee bit bigger than your average Brit at the time. from what I know folks who live in rural areas tend to eat better than industrialized and urban people.
Thanks! There is some confusion among collectors as to the different designations of wartime battledress. *Technically* there isn't a 37 pattern BD, as it was just called "Battledress, Serge", and then there was a updated version introduced in 1940 that was identical, except it had a lined collar, different buckle and so on. What most people call the 1940 pattern is actually called the "austerity pattern". So in a way I am wearing 1940 pattern, but maybe I should have explained it better in the video.
@@Thomachi Cool! But other differences between the Pattern 37 and 40 are the covers on the buttons, on the Pattern 40 the Buttons are exposed (they did this to save material)
I haven't had too much experience with the M34 jackboots, but I don't find them that comfy for walking and hiking. But the quality differs a bit from pair to pair, as I've heard others have very good experience with these. Sorry for late reply!
Battle dress with jackboots is a rather interesting image.
More interesting information as always, thanks for posting!

Were the trousers worn with both Winter and Summer tunics? As I have only seen them with the Summer tunics.

@@ww2finnishreenacting899 Do you know how long it was before they were taken out of service?

Awesome! Only Nitpick is that thats a Pattern 37 Uniform not a Pattern 40

That explains the 65 pattern Finnish uniform
The M65 is based on the German M44, but that was based on the battledress so you're not wrong.
