05:00 My Thoughts of the Lakon Type 8

Babylon 5 Earthforce fighters were called 'Starfury'. 😊
I do like the look of the T8. Not sure I'd use it much, but we'll see how it performs, and what it's stats and internals are like.
its a cool design, much better than the standard "box with engines on it" you normally get with a Lakon "Type" ship. Considering the python is a multipurpose ship it makes sense to me that there is a gap in the market for a dedicated trading ship that can land on medium pads and carry more cargo than the python, but the industrial feel to the ship also screams "mining" as well.
They really hit it out of the park with the design on this ship. Let's hope they don't stuff up the internal modules when they finally release those specs.
2:40 The cockpit has this posture that is reminding me of something like a battlemech or MMX1's final boss form, or Alexander from FF7.. It's just blocky and staring down at you like you're a pissant. I love it. I want one!
looking forward to it, fingers crossed its all we hope it will be
Type 8 looks like it could be a proper good little ship, just a pity I won't get my grubby hands on it as I play on XBOX
Think I'm more interested in this than the new python. Looks of it are awesome. It gives me Robotech (or other 80s animated style) vibes a bit. I definitely see the Alien inspiration as well. I hope it's not so built around trading that it ends up severely lacking in all other areas like other lakon traders. If it can fight pirates effectively or hold a full sweet of mining hardpoints, then I can see myself ditching 1 or 2 of my 4 current pythons.
Looks like a miniature version of the MACROSS with the main gun ready to fire.
If the big update is base building, either on ground or in space, I see cargo containers having to be moved. Not sure how it would work though. I really like that utilitarian design, I have always loved that. I have great hopes for the new update, but isn't it time for some news on that?
That would be cool i reckon next month on more news
Looks like a baby of Type 10 with Mamba. Look they put the heat vents on wings in front of the cockpit so you can see them work :)
I just reset my password with the Frontier Store. That was a bit stressful, but I will be able to buy a Type 8 when it drops. :-)
by the look of it which is really really nice, this new type 8 could be my next exploration ship..........it's very nice
too right
The back end looks like a Last Starfighter Gunstar One...
Cheers for the intel
new ships look amazing, much better than old blocky ones
Love it. Very cool design! 😎
Looks similar to a drake vulture from sc
Certainly does 👌
Feels to me like Fdev is becoming very aware of the gobs of money star citizen is taking in and is (far too slowly) trying to come up with their own money makers
Damn. That looks like a world class miner.
Well they called it a transporter
@@RicardosGaming I'm eager to test it out busting rocks.
@@Halloween111 could be good
definitely looks like a miner to me, hardpoints look front great for subsurface drills and lasers, medium, is great for those profitable outposts..
Totally agree
This being Medium class really makes this competitive for a nice little hauller build, giving you access to all stations.
Looks good - similar to Venture 2 miner from Eve online😁
It does!
Looks amazing 😍
looks great, and finally something new
This can not be the only SOC tuned ship, as this is the only one in game so far if that is the case.
What other new gen ships are coming i wonder?
2 more ships this year (4 in total)
@@RicardosGaming to be fair that's likely only if you spend ARX, otherwise I suspect it will be 2 ships this year and 2 ships early next year...I spent ARX for the python mk2 but not sure I will keep doing that. I also suspect that, at some point, something will happen to make pre-existing ships more compatible with the SCO drives (like a grade 1 controller module gets developed or a new experimental effect on the engineering...something along those lines)
Looks amazing!!!!!!!!
The engines also pivot for landing? Question is, would you pay 1 quid to get it early... To support this direction of design? Definitely for me... theres some star wars ship this reminds me of viewed from starboard flank with that arm... want a couple, hopefully with module space
Looking at the front it reminds me of the Aliens power loader driven by Ripley in Aliens , and a cross between a vehicle for loading container ships :}
From the back of the ship it look’s like Star Wars X-wing fighter and in the front it reminds me of my mamba fighter! I hope it has lot’s of cargo space! Or it be another useless ship!
Every time I hear your news music I get Robocop news vibes. 😄
Want to know more??
The Type-8 is showing walk in access to the ship, there is a ramp to the cockpit thats not part of the landing gear like previous ships. I’m wondering why have it otherwise
Good point
Saud cruger ships access also separated from landing gears. I'm also want interioirs, buy sceptical in this case
Great, but we need a larger ship to move stock from carrier to station, where ie the panther clipper
Yes. Yes, it does look cool!
Also, this isn't a "varient" unless it is supposed to be a variant of the Krait Mk II.
Agreed
Maybe they just wanted to temper the expectation of players by saying they were just variants and maybe the only variant one is the Python, while the others are literally new ships. Fingers crossed for an Imperial medium sized ship....
It feels weird that the type-8 is a medium while the 7 is a large ship. I am kind of enjoying the python mk2 so we'll see.
Hey - new content is new Content
type 7 i heard is in the large pads because its design made it too tall for the medium hanger even though its a medium ship in capabilities
Will it be better than the python mk1?
I have ideas for this: blockade runner or a tank pirate boat
Not a fan of the looks but i bet it will make a good medium mining ship.
Oh, sure, but can it FLY??
I see no similarities with B5 Starfury, it looks more like Mining Frigate VENTURE from EVE Online.
This thing better have a 600 boost and not cow like handling
I bet it will 'mooooooooove' - boom boom!
Total new model.. nothing like this in Elite at all
Exactly - a functional - industrial looking ship
Looks like a Vulture from Star Citizen though
Reminds of the Venture in Eve Online.
ill agree aliens rugged industrial ... not dropship ... game over man game over
little bit Ebon Hawk and I have seen the front design somewhere too
.. hm .. i think it .. would have the same interiors like the other ships ;) what a joke ED ..
You're here so the joke is you.
See? Another Python Variant.
eh - looks nothing like it - however I think it does go head to head with the P1
@@RicardosGaming Looks notwithstanding... the latest ships are all Python variants. For example, Kr8 mk2 has the same hardpoints/similar flight model but with centralized seat(Can't even argue that as it's literally the biggest mk1 complaint), Python mk2 is the PVP variant(guns/util pipe dream), T-8 is the mining/Cargo variant(tbh nothing competes with the king of medium ship cargo. fdev had to make something). The Mk1 Python is the best multipurpose ship in the game that FDEV is trying to split into specialized ships. This is just the T-7 we should have had. Albeit instead of a flying coffin we get 1980s loader arms. Not complaining. New ship cool. It's just...Why use lot ships when PYTHON do trick?
@@Powerhauz I can see that from the viewpoint of being a competitor to the python mk1 for trading, but in that case the python mk2 is actually a FDL variant surely? :)
@garethdewhurst1499 fair point.... thinking again on it, the proper term may be a competitor, but let's be honest, if it's not 300t w/shields, is it really gonna be chosen over the python?
@@Powerhauz optimized for SCO does give it a edge for trading even if its not higher in cargo space I guess, at least until a way to retrofit optimization to older ships (which I suspect may happen) but yeah, really if its going to be a competitor thats more specialized for trading it should edge out the python in cargo space, thats what I think will be the case
