I don't think it's a good marketing idea to keep saying 'it's not that different from a normal blade'... Well, if it's not all that different, why bother ordering it or why spend so much money on it?:)) Being and feeling different is are negative attributes. The idea behind it was to feel somewhat different, to get a fresh feeling. It kinda takes the wind out of the sails.
Hey dan it's me Ryan, how r u oh can I maybe get ur number I'm only getting to become a bigger fan more and more I watched u and great play 😄 Keep on pongin.
It's only a straight-edged version of an egg-profile shape Dunlop marketed ~ fifty years ago. A bit of flare at the sweet-spot distance. If there were an advantage to the actual straight-edge configuration, you'd have seen it ubiquitously in tennis and badminton racquets long ago.
@@-danR well yes and no. You can make an argument that the straight edge gives you a a slight edge over the table (pun intended), an area inexistent in tennis or badminton.
Great review guys!🏆 I think the only drawback to this blade becoming popular with top players is the lack of dwell time. Otherwise I think this blade could help the other 99% of players in the world 😁
Congratulations to Truls Morgard on winning silver medal at the world championship. I would rather give more credits to his creative, authentic , unique playing style for his victories. In nutshell, he has superior FH shots, outstanding short ball control, hurricane BH shots and so dare to fight spirits. Dan, this video made my Friday night very delightful. Thumbs up from USA.
Hey Edward glad you enjoyed it 👊🔥 I honestly couldn't agree more the way he plays is incredible, so fun to watch as you don't know what you're going to get aha. Have a good weekend 🏓
I play the cybershape at my lower amateur league level basically for one reason only: It gets me in the head of my opponent even before i played the first ball. They are all so curious and think more about thr blade than their own game. But beside the unusual shape, it is a good blade
Thanks for the great video! I just started using the Cybershape blade with Stiga Dragon Grip. AMAZING!!! I feel that even lower level players can use this blade with good control.
Tl;dr: "This blade is so amazing, huge, wow, next generation! Look, we also have a professional player here. Sponsered by Stiga you say? Nah, that's just coincidence. He's going to give an honest review, lol. Next time, we have Timo Boll in the show talking about Butterfly products."
6.15 to 6.54. This is the big marketing opportunity for STIGA.As Dan says very interesting at the end. Truls says he is using the defined heptagonal corners of the blade as a guide to get the right angle on backhand shots and make adjustment. With a. Standard round curve blade you do not have such an obvious physically visible reference.[unless you make some mark on the bat].I would not be surprised if STIGA marketed a slower blade CYBERSHAPE in the future. Originally the word Cyber from Cybernetics, meant Steersman, so this control feature is quite apt.
You can just saw off a bit of a regular blade. Modifying a blade was always allowed. Where's the problem? Why did nobody do this so far, if this is needed so bad?
It has been done with tennis rackets as well. Radek Stepanek and Ivan Lendl used to play with 10-sided Bosworth rackets. I don't think we will see a lot of people playing with these in the future. Combined with a different colored rubber this will definitely be an eyecatcher and throw off many opponents.
Well. Let me put it like this - Truls, ranked 77 in the world, basically a "nobody" changed to STIGA Cybershape and reached the final of the World Championships with it. I think its safe to say that this blade increase your performance by a mile! SO excited for this and will order it as soon as it's available in my country.
Thank you for yet another great review which persuaded me to buy the blade. Unique feeling. I knew it was going to be good for me before I even tried it, because of the shape. It really helps to get a more accurate feeling of angles and position of the blade vs the ball at contact time. If you are like me you will like it. Well done Stiga for the innovation.
Thanks for the review Dan. One definite advantage - would be a lot easier to achieve a clean cut when sticking the rubbers on top of this! Something I struggle with quite a lot. 😅 What rubbers did you use with this by the way?
I enjoyed the review, many thanks, but what rubbers are you Both using, and did they play any part in the feel of the blade? How do they compare to some of Butterfly's outrageously expensive top blades, and what is the retail price?
The bigggest questions for the table tennis players around the world now are not about developing high tech blade. But how They are able to beat CNT players.
After watching some of the TTD rubber reviews, stats wise Tenergy 05 is just better in almost every way to the Stiga DNA Platinum XH - would Tenergy 05 suit this blade then?
Hey! I changed to cybershape half a year ago. First, I put Tenergy 80 on backhand and Dignics 80 to forehand. I loved it; it gave a superb control to the backhand and almost ridiculous catapult to the forehand. With just a bit of movement, my forehand counterspins went like cannonballs. Now, I put up the Dignics 09c to the forehand and kept the Dignics 80 but use it on the backhand. I think this is the real deal. I'm in love. If you are an offensive player, I recommend the Dignics series on this blade. The hardest is to adjust to the service and receive game. Needs a lot of adjustments, particularly in the fine touches. I try to attack more short balls, and I think that's good for my game. For sure, if you change to this blade, you have to be open to changing your game.
Hi Dan thanks for the review is Cybershape faster or slower than the Nittaku Acoustic Inner ? I didn’t understand quite well even with slow motion how Truls imparted backspin on his BH smash / counter ? Can you explain ?
What a review Dan! Very gooj job guys;-) I have a question, can you tell me more about punches and active block (or what was that shoot you played 😅), it seems so easy and direct! Especially from Bh. Thanks:)
I am wondering how it would be like to play with a more flexible blade and harder rubber that is more consistent than the soft rubbers that certainly must wear out quickly.
Truls only had a couple of months (or only one) to get used to this blade before the world cup too. Is what I heard atleast. Such a hope for the future! Amazing tournament by him! Is it that "easy" to acclimatize to this one? Great content!

Hi Dan, I have placed an order of the cybershape! I am currently using the Butterfly MJ super ZLC that you have reviewed before. How would you compare these two blades.
depending on how beginner you are... you cant go wrong with an 5-play all wood blade... all, all+, off- ... like stiga allround evolution... and controllable rubbers... rozena might be even too fast... maybe a nittaku fastarc c1... dont start with very fast carbon blades and the power-rubbers the pros use... it might ruin your movement as those are so quick that you might not learn the proper technique to "pull through" the ball. start slow and after some months you can try quicker rubbers. after one or two years you migth be advanced enough to decide yourself if you might want to try a faster blade
you said it is slower than Boll ALC... which isnt difficult for an innerlayer-blade. What blade does it compare too that you played already? Is it more like an Innerforce Layer ALC, an Harimoto ALC or an Ovtcharov No1 Senso or a Freitas? ...or something else in sense of feel in the hand and hold in vs kick out of the racket?
Happy to see a new blade shape design. With the larger head/sweet spot concept I believe manufactures will adjust the elliptical shape be more head heavy. The cybershape is just too odd looking for acceptance.
its crazy seeing this cuz i was designing a paddle like this (but not as pronounced) in 2019 but never actually did it.. i got the idea from my favorite tennis racket brand, yonex

How is the handling while playing banana flicks? Since the blade is not rounded, does the edge come in contact with table?
have u tried throwing the blade? I heard the blade was quite durable. Truls throws it around during matches all the time and it still holds
Pro players also typically bring several racquets to tournaments, I know Timo Boll actually brings 6.
So I don't think he's too worried about throwing it around, although it is a bit angsty lol
