I'm back. I never ever put new rubber on my bat's without watching this specific video from Dimitrij. It's just so straight up to the point, he is a happy person sharing information, and my glue jobs hold GREAT. Thank you Dimitrij!
Thanks for posting! I didn’t know these before: 1. Using bigger sponge for better glue spreading 2. Two or three layers of glue for more power 3. Only tape the bottom of the paddle
@@randsp3c709 the tape adds a little weight. few grams actually make a difference to some players. I don´t know how the tape makes the racket slower though. Taping the bottom saves the rubbers from being ripped off if u hit the table when pushing with downspin.
Thank you very much! It is so important to know how a champion glue his paddle together. Every step scientifically makes sense. I always wondered why the ball doesn't bounce straight up and down on my paddle. I think I can fix that problem now. It is so nice of Dimitrij to show this to his fans and TT players around the world. Manny thanks to Dimitrij the Champion!
@@prodbyaye8751 6:24 in the video he mentioned 2 ways to lay the rubber (hard or soft). The harder method is probably how you make it bounce better. Imagine landing a ball on concrete vs carpet.
I did 3 layers of glue and stretched the rubbers. My trainer thought I trained secretly because my shots had much higher quality. But if you do both these things your rubbers really are faster and harder.
I just bought my first set of replacement rubbers (and glue and sponge and....) so this video was EXACTLY what I needed. Someone assembled my paddle back in the day (1993) so I think it's time to change the rubbers :D I would have never guessed that you apply the rubber to the paddle AFTER the glue is dry and then roll it ! Very informative and well explained !
Thanks Dmitri for this helpful video. U thoroughly covered all the major bases in a tolerable amount of time. I didnt know about multiple layering of the glue application. FYI, I used the video as a guide to glue Dignics 09c rubber to my forehand side. 😃
I used to use scissors that way, but got a much nicer bevel using a long and very sharp knife. Trimmed the rubber off roughly and fast with big scissors ( ~5 mm overhang), then with the knife, wetting the rubber on the smooth side with water and (very small amount of) soap as a surfactant/lubricant. The knife pulled down from the smooth side towards the sponge/racquet side in long strokes, resting the blade lightly against the wood. About 10 strokes of the knife completes the job. Later when I got better at this got about 3mm overhang with the scissors and then glue the other side's rubber and same thing with scissors. Then I could do both sides with the knife without waiting. This got a nice professional job that looked like it was done with a machine. It always puzzled me to see pro-players with up to 2mm (Ovtcharov excepted) overhang around the edge of their blades. That overhang is useless mass that is actually quite a bit of weight that contributes nothing to the strokes and takes a few feet/sec off the fastest whipping loop or smash, creates extra turbulence-drag, also slowing down the final velocity at ball-strike, and represents an area a pro would never come close to in a stroke. That overhang's mass' only useful attribute would be to lower transverse wobble instability and to widen (slightly) the sweet-spot. But if you want that, it would be even better to have an extra 2mm actual blade around the perimeter, and a good rubber-bevel from the blade-edge.
Thank you Dima for this tip. It's only players who would understand the complexity of glueing a rubber. If one gets it wrong the feeling in the racket is lost and playing a match becomes a nightmare
Easily the best video on how to glue, unfortunately i did use a hair dryer before but nver knew the downside of this I also used to place the racket near the radiator!

Congratulations for the Bronze medal! What an awesome match! I am sure we will beat china in Olympia one day. If you or Timo won‘t do it, it’s gonna be the generation which has been inspired from you guys. I hope to see at least one o you two in the shoes of Rossi, to coach the next generation! :]
Once a rubber is glued on the racket you should not reglue that same rubber again. If you do that, it will give you a very different playing feeling. The bounce might be unregular.
Thanks for this, I've thought about the stuff you said about rolling the rubber on before. Now I think I understand why people say their rubber has shrunk after they take it off - because they stretched the rubber when they put it on
I once removed a pre-assembled rubber from the blade and when i boosted it with a booster and tried to re-glue it...i was shock to know that rubber was smaller in size than the actual blade...i called the guy who assembled it for me...now i know the reason..xD

do you use Adhesive Protect Film to protect your rubbers? if not, can you share the reason why u are not using it? isit good and necessary to protect the rubber?
when u playing in big venues ball is flying a bit slower because of air amount so u need to spend more energy. if your racket is fast - it is easier for your physical condition, but harder to control.
@@echo5690 That sounds scientifically questionable, I have to wonder if this is a myth in the TT world. I don't see why the air above the table would be different in a large venue versus a small one. If anything I would expect the altitude to be the most significant factor, since higher altitudes have lower air pressure and density.
