  • I test this strategy from Trade IQ (accidentally said trade pro on the video), who was improving on a recent Trader DNA video, on this straightforward strategy that combines 4 technical indicators to give some positive results. I show you where this worked and where it didn't, when tested on stocks. Thanks for your support!

    Hi....thx for all your hard work..i have a general question.
    In cases where the strategies fail miserably.....would u advise taking a short trade.?..Im noot saying to invert the indicators...I am saying leave and once they hit go short.
    Shouldn't this produce the desired results...in terms of profitability...
    thx

    Any thoughts about trying Futures (1 contract) like ES or NQ. or other indices such as US30 or SPY. to see how it performs across various markets instead of just stocks.

    Any chance you will soon test on something different than stock market data? Since Stock market has been in a bull market so Long positions will always be favoured over short positions in such a backtest

    Is the data tested from S and P and Russell 2K etfs or was it taken from individual stocks in those index funds? I'm a little confused of which ticker to trade with this strategy from the video.

      I'm using python, and a library called pandas which has a lot of data science type functions. I run an environment called jupyter lab locally on my computer, but you can also use google colab, which has python and pandas pre-installed and all runs online

    you don't show the max drawdown for strategies
    and what if this was used on multiple stocks at the same time profit would double/triple?

    • @seriousbacktester
      @seriousbacktester  Год назад +5

      correct; great comment many backtests show drawdown numbers which i feel makes less sense when dealing with such high numbers of trades many of which are occurring concurrently... but I think it would make sense for the 500 or 1000 trade random samples, and if i could calculate the drawdown for those i could present potential drawdown as a bell curve as well... its a great suggestion and I'll see if I can incorporate such a thing in the future

ThinkOrSwim.... has every tool you could imagine to create dynamic watchlists that populate based on indicator conditions, and can send you an email or push alert when it finds a match
