- In this short 2 part video series, I install a new dash pad for my 1977 Chevy c10 project truck. This dash pad was purchased from Classic Industries and fits 73-80 Chevrolet and GMC squarebody C10, C20 and C30 as well as the 4x4 K10, K20, K30, K5 Blazers, Jimmys and Suburbans. If you have a 81-87 (81-91 Blazers, Suburbans and 1 ton trucks) you will need a different dash pad. The installation is Nearly identical. I am also fabricating a custom speaker panel to replace the dash speakers with a pair of small 3.5" Sound Ordinance 2 way speakers.

A lot of vids dont show these small of details such as the addition of speed clips etc . My new dash actually started sticking out a little on the drivers side to where it started to touch the door when closed. I now know i need to put a clip and screw on it. I like your gauges too. Thanks for making this video.
Man, this truck brings back so many memories of my 78
Eric Brunhammer You should go buy another one! :) Thanks for watching!
I would love to, but sadly, where I am at it's hard to find one that isn't completely rusted out for under $5K
nice work. I am adding to my truck collection a 1982 Chevy 1 ton Dually 4 x 4 which is a total rebuild , only 28,000 kmBeing a professional upholster, I just wanted to comment on one thing.. When drilling a new hole like you did, use a small flatpiece of sheet metal with a hole in it between the drill and the dash so In case you slip, you wont damage the surface of the dash. You can also use a flat piece sheet plastic with a hole in it.
Looking great! I'm really excited to see the truck finished!
***** Thank you!
I enjoy your videos. I inherited a 75 C10 Custom Deluxe from my parents estate, my dad bought it new in 1975 and it has been a true working truck. I want to restore it as I can afford and even thought the original color was green and white, I want to paint it blue with red and blue interior, so the dash install will be very helpful.
+Bobby F Awesome! I'm happy my videos will be able to help you out! Thanks for watching!
love the gauge set up
You are a Truckin' Hero! Thanks for all your videos, they are a big help!
3 on the tree manual yessssss great video and truck
Shane Blandford-Scherr Thank you sir!
Thank you, great detail ... thumbs up
i really like the gauge cluster with that new tach & spedo combo & Fuel..lol. They look like it was factory..Whitch it should have ben any way if ya ask me !! Fuel gauge or the mph almost never works n them old trucks..lol. !
thats good info, Clip are the worst to Figure out. im sure this will help a bunch of folks working on this Poppular chevy
LOOKS CLEAN
+CHEVY BOY!!!! Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for this video! I couldn't figure out the Dash Clips. found your video. Now my Dashpad is in!
Happy to help! Thank you for watching!
Nice video. I think I'm going to use black screws for the finish work as I believe it will give me a cleaner look, but your install looks great.
I reaally enjoy those videos men i have a similar truck and with your videos i learn how work on it...
Andres Montes I'm happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Great video. Thank You for making these videos. Your truck is looking really good.
OLD GUY Thank you for watching!
Looks Great !!
I welded and stripped all of tgat vinyl off and filled and smoothed it. Cool videos tho. Im doing a 75 gmc with a cummins
Very professional good job
COLDHAWK56 Thank you very much!
Nice fit
This is badass! looks awesome and keep up the good work
Man nice work. It's looking awesome.
What ever you do keep it manual shift, every ones C10 is automatic, and that's not a deal breaker but please be different, install a Muncie 4 speed or a Tremec 5 or 6 speed.
you won't regret it.
I agree. I have a 1982 C10 Silverado, 305cid w/ Muncie 4 speed. Wouldn't have it any other way( except for the engine. when the 305 craps out im going to drop a 350 in it.)
Don't forget a/c vents and pass side bezel that has screws on back side
I just installed a brand new OEM dash pad - Mine doesn't look as smooth and tight as yours... Do you recommend uninstalling it and reinstalling? The thing cost about $400 LMC Truck Parts. I tried installing speakers after market - i think they are causing the issues....
Zachary Palmer It's possible that it's the speakers. If it's bowed up in the middle (under the speakers) then the speakers are the problem. I have a Part 1 of the dash install and I show how to recess the speakers.
cool dash pad nice work (-:
Nice video if the dash panel is already removed. Where's the video for removing the dash? That is what I need to see.
Thanks for the installation info, it will be quite helpful, once I get the original out.
drivjc I don't have a video for removing the dash. I can tell you that it is the exact opposite of installation. Remove the gauge bezel, the screws along the bottom of the dash, and pull the dash pad straight backwards. It will come right out. Thanks for watching!
***** Thanks for the info. And thanks for posting this video on my b'day!
Would you be willing to share the cost of your gauge set up and where you purchased it? Also your dash pad? Both are very nicely done! I'm restoring a 77 Blazer that I have a lot of time & work into (and $!!) and would love to duplicate your quality.
Did the holes your drilling disappear from the time you first disassembled the dash or did the factory forget to drill them? Been into my fair share of the trucks and have never had to drill anything when going back together with it! Bet by now you regret the choice of fasteners. New Dash Pad, custom cluster, what looks to be attention to detail in your electrical wiring and then a trip to the hardware store to finish it off. Step up your Finishing Game! Peace!
Thank you for the video and info definitely will help me for sure!! I would like to ask you where did you purchase the bezel from? Thank you
Those Chinese Dash pads are flexible junk compared to OEM original dash pads.
I bought one of these off LMC and the fit was so terrible. No where close to fitting around instrument panel. Where did you get yours? Sorry if you may have mentioned it and I missed it.
Did you put out part one? Where did you get your dash pad from and the clips? Thank you
Do you think i can diy 78 dash and gauges bezel on 91 k5 blazer is there is a video about this conversion? From 73-80 to 81-91?
we're did you get those gauge,s at they look really good and all some job on the speakers
+chris mooney The gauges are Auto Meter that I bought from Summit Racing. It's a custom install. I have a multi-part video series on how I put them together. Here's the link to Part 1 of the series: ruclips.net/video/xlH3NPeXwnk/видео.html
Good vid
HotRod Paul Thank you sir!
May I ask what is the paint code for your truck? I really love that color shade of red and would love to paint my 87 chevy V20 diesel 4x4 the same color! My truck is red too but it looks alot darker than your truck
Where did the speakers get installed ?
Awesome work man, are those gauges aftermarket? What size are they?
***** Those are Auto Meter Sport Comp gauges. I have a 20+ part video series about how I put those gauges in. Thanks for watching!
Freaking awesome looking dash and gauge cluster! Did you replace the gas gauge with the tack? Id love to have a tack in my cluster instead of on the column.
+python man Yes, I put a tach in place of the factory gas gauge. I have a whole series of videos on how I put those Auto Meter gauges behind the factory bezel. Search my channel and you will find them. Thanks for watching!
nice, clean work bro
+505BOSE Thank you sir!
milkcrate82 were did u get the dash man ? Did u order it of any website or have to go to a store of some kind ?
sergio lopez
Lmc, brothers, most other classic car websites, catalogs and even some parts stores can order them in for you
Nice truck! where did you find your gates? Got a link for them?
Im seriously looking for C-10 to buy, is it salable? I want a C-10 bad.
i watched the LMC install video also, they gave it a 2 on toughness (on a 1 simple - 5 very hard) scale. Im not to fancy in the mechanical department, but i have an 85 C10 that needs a dash in the worst way. Anyone know the difference (besides price) between the dash pad from LMC and Summit?
It's been awhile so I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I bought mine from Classic Industries. I haven't tried the ones from LMC or Summit. I have a strong feeling that the dash replacements are purchased from the same source. So if you buy from LMC, Brothers, Summit etc.... you might be buying the same part. However, be advised there is a difference between the replacement dashes and the dash covers. Dash covers are simple cloth or vinyl covers for you existing dash pad. Cheap fix. What I showed in this video is a dash replacement.
Necesito ayuda para compral el dash 1973 Chevrolet pico c 10
how many times can you say "uh"? good video tho thanks.
I got an 82 and I was wondering where can I get a dash like the one you installed?
Eric Rodriguez I ordered mine from Classic Industries. Thanks for watching!
Where did you buy your dash pad?
Where did you get your new gauges? Do you know where you can just get new lenses? Thanks!
Bill Welch They are Auto Meter gauges that I ordered from Summit Racing. Are you looking for a lens for a factory gauge cluster or for aftermarket gauges? I know I've seen a new replacement lens for the original gauge cluster from LMC Truck. For aftermarket gauges, you'd probably have to contact the manufacturer. Thanks for watching!
*****
Thanks for the reply. I didn't think I saw those on LMC, but will look again. Looking for original lenses.
Miikcrate82 where did you get your clips
Where did you get your clips
would you know why, when im driving or parked or reverse it wont show what gear im in?
adrian morales With an automatic transmission?
automatic its a 87 chevy
adrian morales It's likely that the linkage between the column shifter and the indicator is broken. Pull the dash bezel off and you can check. Easy to check and easy to replace.
Can you talk about how many speeds the transmission has ?
Thank you
...sorry bro, I should have read the previous posts.
Where did you find the dashboard? I have a 75 Jimmy I'm looking to replace.
+Patrick Kruse Classic Industries.
where to you get the dash clips!!! mine are rotten.
I believe I ordered them from LMC.
Do you have the link of where to buy the dash new?
+The Barber I bought the dash from Classic Industries. I don't have a link but you will find them easily through Google. Thanks for watching!
Bro thanks for three time but your trimming so much bcuz this dash is for a earlier model than the truck in your video.
I got a 85
Where did you purchase the vinyl dash pad from?
+Larry Acosta Classic Industries
Is this a cover lay or the actual dash pad?
Where can I get that dash? Mines cracked bye heat from the sun 😞
what kind of dash is that?
Trevor Bergman Bought it from Classic Industries.
Dumb question, but what's the name of the thing you laid down before you put the carpet down, it looks silver. I'm looking for it everywhere I just don't know the name of it
Sound dampener or heat insulation
