A recent TikTok / Twitter disinformation campaign claimed that 20,000 dual UK/Israeli citizens would return back to the UK “soon.” If true, this would mean that roughly 7% of the UK’s Jews returned to Israel to fight. Imagine what the damage would be if some party would design a system that manipulates people with AI-created fakes while also spamming at the same time on tens of thousands of bot accounts across many platforms..
Nukes are scary but you can respond to nukes. You can't respond to world wide disinformation campaign where AI creates spot-on responses per the 'script' to every tweet and post (usual trolls and bots never reply, they just drop their propaganda and move on). Pulling plug from internet is a nuclear option that would plunge the world back into the 1800's. Currently we are completely dependent on the web but also don't have the tools to manage it if this happens.

There is no "tour of duty" in the IDF. Israel is not fighting some oversea war, but an existential war. The soldiers keep fighting for as long as the war goes on.
Yes and no. While you are correct that this is an existental war, individual reserve units (and the soldiers that comprise them) get called up for finite time periods before being released. During non-war this would usually be up to one month but in the current war most units did about 3 months before being relased. Some already have dates for when they are being called back but very few reservists have been full time soldiers since the start.

I don't know what is going to be said in the video, but 20k of anything, flying from Israel to even multiple places in the UK, is 100% of commercial flights, 100 of RAF air lift, 100% of USAF AMC lift and charter on top of that
Go ask people in Gander CA what that kinda lift looks like before the War in Afghanistan, cargo planes, 5 mins separation, for HOURS fly a dedicated route from CONUS to Rammstein AFB. You can't not notice that kinda airlift, and that was for approx 5500 soldiers going into Afghanistan. 20k is nuts
there was an airlift in the first days of the war,
but it was a global effort - and mostly contained Israelis on a break year, Israeli tourists and businessmen heading home to fight.
the airlift was mostly done via airliners, and considering how many flights were being cancelled during the first days of the war, many were simply hopping over to Europe to be closer to airports that still had designated flights to Israel with reservists getting priority.
Additionally, there were some flights on military cargo flights of the IAF for reservists that had been summoned.

Now, impressive was seeing traffic for REFORGER.
An airbus 380 can carry, at absolute maximum, 853 passengers, though no airline has yet stacked people in that tightly.
As a rough number, most airlines average around 500 passengers in that monster of a plane.
Those 20,000 soldiers would fill 400 planes. That's a lot of flights. That would be almost the entirety of air traffic at Heathrow for a day (650 average).
i have no idea how many flights were carried out, nor how many C-130J's dedicated flights.
but I would be surprised if even 5,000 people had arrived from around the world.

IDF soldiers and reserves not British soldiers mate. I am British, I was called up for duty when the war started so I am one of those they suggest to arrest.

I think that even if there were UK citizens there, they wouldn't be 'UK regular/enlisted Soldiers' - you can't just take a leave of absence to go fight a war somewhere else.
Correct, most if not all of them were dual citizens, not british soldiers per se (chance are they were already IDF reserves, here in Brazil about a like 4 dual citizens and 3 druzes from a small Israeli comunity flew to Israel some returned and all of them were "waterboys", so I guess they have to stand trial from moving crates of food and water on base)

What’s ironic is that in the 1947-49 Israeli Independence War, there actually were a few hundred British active duty soldiers who did go AWOL to fight… on the Arabs’ side, led by Brigadier General Sir John Bagot Glubb.

Considering an estimated 20-40,000 Canadian citizens with US citizenship served in the US army during the ENTIRE Vietnam war, and according to Washington post about 1,200 American citizens serve with the IDF.... The 20,000 number in such a relatively short period of time from a country with only 60 some-odd million people, seems sketchy.
Just some quik maths, becuase the British love thier maths, 20,000 was the number of dual UK-Israeli citizens total in 2015. So. Thats like... all of them? Or assuminf the number has gone up, lets say to 30,000, thats most of them? Easy bs. Even so, they still have the presumption of innocence and are still citizens of the UK.

A bit more math(s): based on the UK Jewish population and age demographics.
There are 20,300 Jewish males between the age of 20 and 44. If you exclude Haredi Jews who do not serve in the IDF, the number is 14,600.
This is NOT the number of British Jews serving in the IDF, it is the total number of British male Jews of military age, full stop.
Now remove the few thousand who are politically opposed to Israel / Zionism /this war and the medically unfit.

Well during the height of the ISIS war, at most about 850 Muslims left the UK to fight for ISIS. There are several orders of magnitude more Muslims in the UK than Jews and about 20% of British Muslims are Salafist or are at least sympathetic to the jihadist movement.

Sorry but I have to nitpick: plenty of Haredi serve in the IDF, typically the ones who aren't cowards. They're simply not conscripted (yet). There's however a plan to change that as the excemption makes no sense any longer.

this claim has two sides "British citizens" and "returning home"
there are Jewish British volunteers in the IDF as mentioned , some of them also continue as reserves .in general these are small numbers even less so when considering the fact quite a large percentage of those who volunteered, end up moving to Israel. so they aren't "coming back home"

Prior to the current Netenyahu administration I suspect you had more Israeli/British dual nationals moving to Israel than the other way around. Given the UK's shit tier wages that have only gotten worse since Brexit. I'm American and recently visited the UK myself, the trip was actually cheaper than I expected aside from air fare. My UK friends could never afford to visit the US right now and the only British tourists I see in the US tend to be wealthy pensioners, not working age people.

Looks like it might be a guy named Ian Smith - Integrity Commissioner - ESIC. His accent does sound like South African English so that part fits, the voice also sounds similar to other clips I found. Linkedin says he is currently in the UK so that fits as well.

Note that the Elders of the Druze requested back in the Fifties that their sons and daughters be ;liable to conscription into the IDF. They have proved to be loyal and effective troops.
Among the non-Jews who serve in the IDF (aside from Arabs -- Muslim and Christian -- and Druze) there are also Circassians, who, like the Druze, are conscripted. The Circassians are a very small community, about 5,000 in total.
Only jews are conscripted. Also, there are messianic jews who serve in the military. They are jews who believe in Christ as the Messiah hence they are Christian but regardless, are conscripted as jew is both a race and religion. Goes without saying, their citizenship is Israeli. Everybody else volunteer just like the US Armed Forces (for now)

20,000 is a good majority of our active soldiers. Considering most aren't fit enough to pass the RFT (Role fittness test)
NOT BRITISH SOLDIERS. Israeli (or duel) citizens living in the UK . Which is around 15000 people. So 20,000 is impossible as a demographic fact.
Saying that is is "likely" disinformation and not blatant lies and fabrications is being very nice to some who does not deserve it.
What would be interesting to learn more about is the claim that South Africa is arresting IDF members.
I don't know if there have actually been any arrests, but it's illegal in South Africa to join a foreign military. From my understanding, it's almost never enforced, but the government recently said they would start enforcing it against Isreali soldiers

So it would take about 92 sold out flights to ferry 20,000 soldiers from Tel Aviv to the UK. El Al currently has about 5 flights a day to the UK so that would take about 18 days to fly all those IDF soldiers home. As they say on TikTok the math isn’t mathing.
