These knock- offs were the kind of toys you could find at fairgrounds during the 80's.

My family would all get together for new years and exchange Christmas gifts with family that didn't live close together. When I was a kid, Voltron was huge. That year I and my cousins got a LOT of knock off Voltron toys. There was one of 5 motorcycles that combined into a robot. I got 3 or 4 of those that year. From what I remember, it was actually a decent figure when combined.

10:58 I still have the man with the curved sword and the chest protector with feather-ish shoulders. It has a phoenix like bird on the armor. I think I bought it or someone gave it to me as a gift around 1994 or 1995, but in those years the action figures everyone wanted was from the Conan The Adventurer's animated series so I think it wasn't just a He-Man knock off but just a generic barbarian warrior that could apply for everything in the genre. It's the first one that appears in the playset that shows on 9:57 and now that I remember it was totally a Conan knock off more than a He-Man knock off because the bad guys were based on reptiles and in Conan the bad guys were the snake men.
Edit: Investigating I just found out it's a figure from Sewco Galaxy Fighters, a Bootleg of Galaxy Warriors as it seems. The name of the character is Daton. Cool. Thanks to this video I just found out that I have a little treasure stored somewhere.

@@EdsRetroGeekOut Well this is all new to me. I'm from Argentina, and we had a lot of this toys here but we were also more into anime, specially in the '90s. Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball were huge and opened the door to a lot more anime and of course, a lot more toys and a lot more ko's, specially in the first half of the '90s. As far as I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, anime didn't catch up in the US until a few years later. When I was 8 or 9 I spent my afternoons between Power Rangers, Ghostbusters, Saint Seiya and DBZ so now I can imagine how far it goes. It was (and still is) pretty usual find whole sets of 5 or 6 figures that had a mix of Super Sentai, DBZ, Sailor Moon and DC Comics characters.

It's interesting to me knock offs like the effort put in just to be legally different enough. You don't really see that anymore. An original toy property taking off and others wanting to jump on that bandwagon. Maybe like some obscure MLP or Barbie knock offs, I may not know about. But I kinda wish that was a thing again even if just for the novelty chuckle in the aisle looking at it.

I have a sort of related question that someone may be able to help me with. I had a play set when I was a kid in the 1980s that no one seems to be able to identify. I wanted castle grey skull but my aunt bought me something similar but it had a gold colored snake hear “truck” that you could fire out of the front of the snake like castle. I know this is vague, I can’t find anything on google searches like this or anything else. I thought it may be D&D but nothing matches. Any ideas?

Looks exactly like the original apart from the slight colour difference and different packaging of course that has nothing to do with Transformers, but in both robot and gun mode has the same light and sound effects. Ed's Retro Geek Out : I recall that when My Uncle returned home to Texas from Baltimore, He brought this magnificent beast to Me along with a Gold colored 3 headed dragon and a Battle Rhino; both wearing saddles and bearing the same straw berry air freshener scent as the Winged Lion Man . It was 1985 : Video game graphics had not evolved well enough to replace the artistic construction of Our beloved action figures.

That was pretty cool. It would be awesome if you do something similar with tmnt and its "inspired" lines like the fighting frogs, the Street sharks, the samurai pizza Cats,...
Or a video of Ed about his knock-off James McAvoy 😁😁😁

You really should do GI Joe and Transformers. So many knock offs of both of those.
Also I think it is funny that some people still think Go Bots was a knock off of transformers. HAHAHA.

Ahoyhoy There, Fellow RUclipsrino! Please help me identify the following:I had a Red Toy Dragon . The pieces I was given along with the bundle were from Playmobil , like flags and shields. The Dragon seemed to be , from what I can remember, the same mould as the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Gold Dragon, but in red. There was a blue one , as well, that they also sold me , same mould. They came apart like the wings and maybe the heads. I'd sure like to see one again. Please, if ANY one has ANY info about the Dragon I described, please reply to this comment.

Galaxy warrior line is bad but phelous has done a whole series of videos on it. Also it’s insane ripoffs shown in videos are only start. They even ripped off she-ra. You have to see it to believe it. It’s crazy. I mean goes so far to include ripoffs of ninja turtles
