I would like to encourage anyone thinking about quitting for a New Year’s resolution, give it a try and stick with it! Kevin helped talk me out of my horrible self destruction last year and I’m about to celebrate 1 full year without a single drink. I don’t even THINK about it anymore. I certainly don’t crave it. You just have to break the habit brothers and sisters. You can do it if I did!

I never used to drink. I was too driven and passionate about my career. But during covid everything changed and I had to drop my career. I ended up picking up a bottle cope. It's been 3 - 4 years of becoming progressively more addicted to alcohol. I've drunk so much in the past few years that my health has deteriorated, I've lost my sense of purpose, and the alcohol has led to severe depression. I want to stop and find the woman I used to be again. So getting sober will be my new years resolution. I'll be turning 40 this year, so I need to start to look after myself.

I think for a long time I've refused to accept that the source of all these issues is alcohol. How something so simple can cause all these problems is beyond me.

thank you so much Kevin! great help with your lovely videos. 71 years old and heavy drinker for at least 20, had a 6 months stop years back but when started again I was drinking even more than before. 60 days sober now and decided not to go back on drinking. when I think "do I miss it" I immediately say to myself "do you want to have those stomach pains every night for 2 hours and more, do you want to go every 2 hours to toillet every night, do you want to keep shaping all your day routine thinking about when is the time to start your drink???? " "no you don't and you don't want that poison anymore in your body!!!!"

You can do it brother. Stay strong and keep with it. I promise you the first two weeks or month is the worst and hardest to get past. After that it gets easier and easier. About to have 1 year completely sober on new years and it started with one day and one week and one month. One step at a time, man.
Not sure if you’re a believer in God or not but for me personally, I think genuine prayers for help and strength to overcome it was the piece I needed to get past the desire and weakness to give in. Could be a worth a shot for you either way.
And either way I just said a prayer for you that you may be given the same grace and help that I was.

At the beginning of my sober journey, I tuned to a few of your vlogs and it was therapy to see others who have experienced EXACTLY what I had experienced drinking and the struggles of stopping the vicious cycle. Watching content like this really fuels your motivation and is reassuring. Thank you Kevin. Now 851 days ( I don't count anymore had to take a moment) and so much better for it.

    Good video!
At 64 years old and 8 months sober, the biggest challenge for me is forgiving myself for all the stupid choices I made in the past and the people I hurt as a result.
Having lots of time to think clearly without having that crutch can be tough.
One goal is to do better and try and make up for those bad decisions. To be a better human being. Kinder, wiser, and of course healthier. Onward and upwards!

Very few people can say they've lived a life of no regrets. There's no point in bringing past regrets to haunt your present and future life. It's like forcing yourself to live the same mistakes over and over again... needlessly. Let it go!

You have to forgive yourself and don't waste time on regret. I use my historical idiot moments as fuel to my motivations to stay sober. It keeps me in my lane. Keep going...it will get easier

Really helps to have an outside source to make a change for. Such as kids or job etc. For me, one was my 91 yrar old mom. Even though she sometimes is dissappointed that i dont drink with her amymore , i knew she would even be more bummed if i had no drivers liscence or worse. Up to us to realize the risks outside of ourselves and think who is effected. Kinda shows how reckless we can be with ourselves if we let go of responsibilities and the ones who need us .

There are many more motivations in our lives than we'll ever need. We just have to open our eyes to them.

I wanted to let you know that quitting alcohol yes is a personal decision you must make for yourself. I haven't picked up a drink since I quit almost two years ago. I have a fully stocked bar and fridge with my favorite booze. I started saying well one day maybe. As time has gone on I truly don't care for alcohol anymore. I say if I drink it I do if I don't I don't. There is no good reason to ever drink. Once I realized that it became easier and easier to laugh at it. I wanted to say Thank You Kevin because at the start one of your post was about just never drinking it again and helped me to realize .

I guess that's it...I don't feel I NEED to stop. I enjoy my one mid day beer I have most days. I've tried but don't have reason enough for the conviction to stay popless. Yeah that's my identity. Maybe thing will change down the road.
    Peace.✌️

    Are you an alcoholic
    How do you score
    You be the judge
    1. Do you need alcohol to sleep
    2. Do you need alcohol to relax
    3. Do you need alcohol to calm your nerves (anxiety)
    4. Do you need alcohol to better interact with people
    5. Do you only meet with friends when alcohol is involved
    6. Do you only meet with family (birthdays Christmas funerals etc) when alcohol is involved
    7. Do you need alcohol when listening to music
    8. Do you need alcohol when watching a movie
    9. Do you drink alcohol do deal will a stressful day of work
    10. Do you drink alcohol straight after work before your evening meal (if you have one at all)
    11. Do you need alcohol to increase your appetite
    12. Do you need alcohol before having sex
    The list could go on
    You be your own judge

Love your content Kevin mate, and i would just like to add something please, and it's about the connection between cash in hand work and alcohol.
What i mean is, the area where i live, basically, let's just say your on hard times, and you get offered work in pubs ect ect, not a lot, if anyone memtions this, but you more or less agree to be a drinking partner for the sake of the "money" !!!
The catch is though, they have practically got you under their control, i myself had to "toe the line" on a few occasions in order to keep them sweet, otherwise, the alternative is, you will get flirted off, and they'll replace you with somebody who is willing to do the drinking side !!! This ALWAYS and i do mean always bothered me, because you have basically signed a verbal contract saying your ready to do your training in how to be a full time pisshead !!! 🙏

@HabitsV2 i couldn't agree more. But Kevin, what would you do if you was in that person's shoes may i please ask ???? Say if you was flat broke, not a pot to piss in, and you was absolutely DESPERATE, would you in your drinking days, or even now, have gone along with it, or would you have rather been skint ???? 🙏🙏

Yes! the End... just kidding, but willingly quitting for whatever the reasons are, and there are a lot, is a hell of alot better than getting in trouble, and basically being forced into it. I did it for health, financial, and wanting a better self. I also made terrible decisions, like driving, and saying bad things to people I care about. I hate being forced into anything in life, so I decided not to wait for something bad to happen, and it would've. Just a matter of time
