If I can give one piece of a device in a situation like that. Hook up another cable at the back end. Then you won't have to worry about trying to pull it up by hand and I wouldn't use that head on the snake. That's a retrieving auger. And if there's a hole in the pipe, it can get stuck inside and you have a lot more bigger issues then But that's just my opinion. I found you channel from one of my subscribers. They said you mentioned my name or my channel on one of your videos so I just want to give you. Thanks for sending somebody my way. I'm gonna check out your channel your other videos. And if I like what I see I will give you a shout out Cheers. Keep it up
Thanks for the advice man I appreciate it!!! I was using the small bit so it doesn't get stuck but i know what your saying.Yea no problem, I always try to give shout outs to channels that are awesome!!
They sell a fork on a handle to guide the cable. As for me i would have used a tighter wound cable on cast iron. Looks like the toilet flange adapter needs to be touched up by a Dremel if it's hanging up your cable. On this one I would have started with my k400. Small bathrooms are the worst and that machine is just strong enough to get fine roots as long as people have been using the drain all along. Never use it if they're only there a couple times a year and the roots have had a chance to get thicker. But the guide wouod let you keep the cable down and coil itself back out. Auto feed is the best thing ever and ao much faster as well. I picked up a k400 for 100 bucks next thing is getting the auto feed for it. 3/8 inner core 75 ft cable is nice and lightweight which will do a huge percentage of jobs.
36:24 Best decision you made lol😂 My uncle was a plumber here in Chicago for almost 40 years, my grandfather was a plumber for the Chicago Housing Authority in the late 50's- late 80's. When rodding a clog in a line they said to imagine your the head of the snake, imagine what its doing in the line. Upon hitting the clog they explained its best to run that rod back and forth 3 or more feet working to break down where the clog formed. Most drain companies tend to just poke a "hole" through a clog. Also some times having kinks in the cables can aid in slapping and cleaning the walls. My K50 has some pretty bendy 5/8 cable that does a good job of breaking down grease build up. I like that you take pride in clearing the clog, like previously in a video running 105' foot of cable to make sure its not gonna be an issue in a week or 2 for the customer.
I used my pry bar and pulled the cable back just like in floor drain you have to push down and remove cable. Love that machine especially when on the roof through the vent stack .
And the home warranty company only wants to pay you 100 dollars for this? Then not pay you for a month. Those sobs. LoL Its a real shit show mamma!!!!😂
@thehandymanexperience226 I know I'm just teasing buddy. But you know what I mean with some of these places. I ha e my own handyman business as well. I have thought about working for a home warranty company but never pulled the trigger. I have worked for other places that either only pay their bills once a month or they just don't pay on time. It's hard man.
Im not through watching the video just yet. But I'm at the point where the snake is stuck. For my cleaning service job we use a Rotobrush machine for the air ducts. You can have the brush turn right or left with the controls. But it still does get stuck in the vents sometimes. And it's hard as hell getting it back out. Lots of the same movements your doing here. We were doing a trailer once, and the critters chewed a hole through the ducts and the brush got stuck. We had to crawl under the trailer with the spiders. Snakes. Scorpions to try to find it. I never want to relive that again
Dude, i feel you. I got a auger snake stuck in a clean out pipe. And had to dig down to the pipe, break into the pipe to free the grabber . It worked its way into a hole in the pipe. What a nightmare Why didnt you show what the clog was. Thats thw best part.
Air snakes are less effective than a plunger, theres a reason ridgid stopped making them back in the 70s ( im not joking, ) they did use draino.. that s what that foam is from
@@thehandymanexperience226 in the 80s we used the ridgid air ram to shoot tennis balls, it's best actual real world use. Airspace is an overpriced plunger nothing more, and I'd argue it's less effective, ive been in this trade 27 years, to each their own but if a plunger doesn't work a toilet auger is cheaper and will work better an not risk splattering toilet waste all over the place
You're doing a great job. Thanks for the videos; I was wondering about the air blaster for the toilet. Have you had reasonable success with using it? I never used one myself.
He did find a paper towel and hair. Sometimes more than you think the clog goes down and I think it's people using too much toilet paper and these toilets nowadays only flush 1.28 gallons of water each flush. I tell people to flush more while you're taking the browns to the Superbowl. Cast iron pipes get closed up with calcium deposits too. A camera is next but the warranty company isn't going to pay for that.
I dont like that machine. Doesn't seem to have full engagement with the snake. Also the individual snake sections make me nervous that a section may breaking in the line and then you got a real shit storm.
Been using k50 ridgid for over 20 years. I can say confidently that the sections do not detach if they are assembled properly and the pin is set, drain does cause embrittlement of the metal itself though . Basically if its going to break its going to break, ive had 1 cable fracture.. not at the junction
your suppose to let the machine do the work, not the other way around, the way you are tugging and pushing on that snake, no wonder you are sore and tired.
The old self sealing clog trick! Im 54, your more man than me. Im taking and advil just watching this. I wonder if people watching this have a clue how bad drain machines and cables beat you up
Fkn nightmare. I always worry about getting the snake caught and visions of cutting into pipes to get it out. Some days are a doozy for real dude. I definitely appreciate your videos, thank you 😁
Bruce!!! Lol dude u heard how I was laughing in the vid, that's like worse case and u know ur screwed lol 😆. But I seen how the snake was getting caught getting fed in by the flange. look for the clean plug on the main line and put the snake in that way.

I love it, I always keep it on my truck. It's doesn't always work but it's good in a pinch when you run out of options
I would never go on the roof. There are too many other options, and going on a roof can shorten your lifespan or at least your working career.
This is true!!
I walked away for a few minutes when I had done that.
Yeppers lol 😆 ooops
That’s crazy I don’t know what I would do in that situation
U would figure it out, cus u would be forced to. I seen how I fed the cable in and seen how it was sticking on the flange.
No outside clean outs?
None:/
you could have grabbed your drill and hook your cable up, and screw it out of there
Definitely a good idea
What kinda of shoe covers are you wearing at the beginning of the video?
Tidy trax, Google them
Why didn’t you go downstairs and find a clean out after round 1 through toilet flange.
I’d imagine because he doesn’t want to get blasted with poop water or clean up a mess.
There was no clean outs, it was on a slab
Man that snake got stuck. Do they make a smother snake for it?
The smaller snakes have a tighter wound cable, the problem was the toilet flange fed it too deep. I could have used a inside pipe cuter to shave it
Funny, another drain clog lol
Just for u lol 😆
Maybe invest in a camera system ❤ just a thought
I have one, but didn't have it on me
Get the m18 Milwaukee drum snake
Sounds alot lighter than my ridgid k750 lol
anyone have any ideas what caused the clog? I am really curious of what it might have caused it.
Collapsed pipe maybe, old cast iron does that sometimes
