She had to know that morning he had done something to her. She was in the house and knows he did not drop her off at school and neither did Mom. She lied about going with him when he took her to school. I think they struck a deal with the Mom to give evidence against him to save her from the death penalty. I hope they charge her too with something. Aiding and abetting at least if not more. .
No, I have seen many cases where nobody knows. For various reasons.
Well we know that the Mom lied about seeing her daughter getting ready for school that morning. We also know she lied about dropping her daughter off with Sterns that morning too… so it’s even more likely that she knew exactly what he was doing to her daughter. That poor child had no one to protect her.
Put her mom in jail as well! She’s guilty too!

*Edit to add*: The fact they didn't say no, when asked if charges will be laid against Jenn, and instead said that this isn't over and that they're still investigating...IS MUSIC TO MY EARS. That tells me she's absolutely not in the clear, and she'll be having to answer for all this as well. I think they're going about this the right way, and it's gotta be extremely hard for the detectives in cases like this to have to review the kind of evidence that is at play here. Kudos to them.
If she did have knowledge of the crimes, my bet is they will prefer to use her as a witness and give her some sort of immunity deal. Depends how much evidence they've got against him (although personally I think this will be a slam dunk)

@dawnatkinson7704 I was wondering the same thing, maybe they'll give her a deal of some sort, but I think they'd only do that if there's something even bigger at play here. Like more people involved. Because they already have what they need to put Sterns away for life. Either way, the public has already made up their mind about her. I don't know that she can redeem herself in the court of public opinion.
They never said that. They literally asked if Jen or the mother is being charged and they said “no” only Sterns is being solely indicted on 60 charges. What are you talking about?

Yes, she lied to police, saying she saw Maddie at 8am ,not only that she allowed her daughter to be abused by that freak for years.
I think it would take a while to get evidence to say whether she was around when these crimes took place but most of the dates are in the summer when school was out. She may have been at work because this bum doesn't have a track record for holding down a job. Maybe she needed free child care but I find it hard to believe the amount of evidence in his phone that she had no clue. I am sure it's possible but I don't think it's likely. I was SICKENED by watching her rub all over him while he was crying in that interview. It gave desperate mom vibes to me. If she was truly clueless I would think she would be screaming from the rooftops and actually ADVOCATING for her child who is unable to do for herself now.

They have to have enough evidence for a jury to convict before laying a charge, defendants have a right to a speedy trial, they cant lay charges and go to court with no evidence or witnesses, if that happens and he got off they wouldnt be able to prosecute him again because of double jeopardy. People need to understand how the law works better, finding evidence especially when its all circumstantial takes time

Some states require certain crimes to go before a grand jury hence can be a delay in the actual charging.

No story has gotten to me the way this one has. I cannot imagine, well, and don't want to. I think of this poor innocent child and it makes me cry. 8 years old? I have tears in my eyes and feel so damn angry that something like this was going on and the mother had no idea? Sorry, that is not looking possible to me. This little girl had no chance. No one protecting her. Who was protecting her. She was literally living a nightmare day in aand day out since the age of 8! He better get the death penalty and they better investigate the mother too!
