Rakim knew back then that he was the illest. The way he carried himself, his rhymes and his flow. Never rude and never let the rep get to his head, he just kept cool. I remember his burgundy jeep with Rakim on the licence plate on the block not letting anyone that smoked get close to the inside because he didn't want anyone to burn the seats. Lol!!!

Don't let them nice homes and we'll kept lawns fool you because Strong Island NY is ghetto fly dope official and cats like Rakim who is probably your favorite rappers favorite rapper proves this. We would have got that Aftermath Rakim album if Dre would have let Rakim just do what he does on a beat. oh wait, no we still wouldn't because he just puts almost every album on shelf. And Game & Kendrick? Well they are from compton. That's probably why they got their album out. Rakim would have been so much more talked about if he would have got a Shady or Aftermath album out

Yo I'm listening to what Jay Quan is saying about Rakim Allah. Yo Rakim is the god emcee no doubt. He is one of the best ever. He's in my top 3 of all time. Really top 2 of all time. No disrespect intended, but I think Jay is reaching a bit with what he's saying Rakim was the only cat to rhyme such & such. Based on the example he gave. I think he should go back & listen to BDP's "Poetry" rhyme style. How many styles has KRS-ONE invented? How many Rappers has he influenced? How many emcees has he dissed? Rakim is my 2nd favorite emcee, but if we're compare styles?, KRS has displayed way more styles than Rakim. No diss. Rappers & emcees were influenced to rhyme like KRS also. Once KRS dropped "Ghetto Music" & a couple other jawns that were a little different...cats started to sleep. But that's another topic. In any case, much respect to the god Rakim & this induction was well deserved & looking forward to the new album. 💯
Thanks for watching. Respectfully you need to listen closer. Poetry dropped in 87, Ra was doing this style in 86 on Melody/President. What I said was that Kool Moe Dee had done this style long ago, but Ra built upon it. Kane did that style as well and eventually many did. But when I spoke of multi syllabic flow and rhyming one word with several others, I maintain that Rakim did that early and better than anyone else. It's far from a reach. How many styles KRS invented has zero to do with what I was saying about Ra and that particular style.
