This is me! 20 years of lower back pain with a really old injury, my back would have the annual flare up. Nine months ago I discovered Dr Sarno and my journey began. Then found this RUclips channel with Jim. I've recently been to an osteopath trained in PRT who confirmed no actual physical issues in my back and looking back, I can link my flare-ups with emotional events in my life. Since June this year, my back has been locked in a constant hyper vigilant state and with my recent trip to my osteopath, I've gone firm a daily 7 out of 10 to 3 to 4. So now I'm continually telling my brain, there's nothing wrong!! Easier said than done I know but consistency is key. I know I can break this habit. For special events, I put so much pressure on myself to be ok and guess what.. my back goes to a 9!! Still working on this! These videos really help reinforce what I know and also listen to Jim's somatic tracking videos daily to calm the nervous system. Excellent content here ❤
This presentation should be required for all medical practitioners!! Such a great explanation of the mind body connection and how it all works!! Thank you!! Great job 🎉🎉🎉
Im in the last week of my therapy in a psychosomatic hospital. I’ve been here for 2 months already and I’m so glad that in this time I found your videos. I’m so glad that there are people like you. Thank you so much. May God bless you abundantly 🙏🏻☀️✨
One of the best TMS videos ever!!! Thank you Jim 💕 I just want to say, I don't think I believe anymore that there's anything actually physically WRONG with my bladder, it's just that I'm so sick to death of the irritating, distracting, oh-so-familiar, seemingly inescapable sensation 😢
Wow! Excellent! Thank you. I watched one of your videos yesterday and today I am a completely different person... I am not on high alert, not adhd, nor distracted. I am calm centered ..... not been like this for ages!
This goes far back. Hippocrates taught the brain is the seat of thought, sensation, emotion and cognition. Also J. Krishnamurti: “As long as you think about pain, you intensify the memory of it. Therefore, thinking about pain increases the fear of it.”
Certainly does. It used to be different but medicine nowadays is only looking at the body. Hippocrates said himself: It is far more important to know what person the disease has than what disease the person has.
Just learned about TMS 2 weeks ago, after 2 decades of chronic body/gut pain. Gosh, this video is super helpful as I embark on my journey to quiet-*decide to* calm!🧠:)-my nervous system. Childhood trauma mixed in there, this just makes so much sense. Thx for helping me to understand it better, Jim!
I healed from POTS entirely, though mostly by getting OFF the medications that were causing the extreme low blood pressure. 6 months after I tapered off benzos and elavil, plus 3 other medications, my bp was normal. In benzo withdrawal, however, I had the racing heartbeat, and self-hypnosis helped that hugely, as it did with spiking HIGH blood pressure. But when life was calm and peaceful, my bp was perfectly normal. I went from crawling - my bp was so dangerously low - to dancing. Now I'm learning somatic work, I hope to end other chronic symptoms too. This is a good place to help with many kinds of non-structural chronic pain and illnesses! Somatic tracking is wonderful - I do it daily now. And the success stories help when you're having a rough day or a setback! Jim is a great teacher.
@@Dandelionsandbutterflies The most important thing I did was taper off benzodiazepines - that's sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication. Self-hypnosis is a way of calming yourself then giving your subconscious messages of healing. Here is an example: ruclips.net/video/D9hjipLstgQ/видео.html But that just helps with the symptoms. I believe that doing somatic tracking, brain rewiring, and nervous system calming can help you heal it entirely. But various forms of meditation and breathwork can help. Happy Healing!
I'm sure he would. It's part of many symptoms resulting from nervous system dysregulation, just like CFS . This approach works for any uncomfortable symptoms under this umbrella. Its not just for pain😊
Hi Jim, do you have any other advice for distressing loud tinnitus, would be most grateful if you could do a short video on this symptom. i have been dealing with chronic pain for 30 years, using the TMS method, but the tinnitus, which i have had for three years is the most challenging yet. Much appreciation.
Its not the body but the difficult part for me is to consistently not react to the symptoms. Allow them, move through them. And not to judge when i have a setback( inner critic)
I’ve been dealing with heart palpitations skipped heart beats for about 5 years now. I do have lots of fear related to them. I have been cleared by cardiologist. This has really increased my health anxiety to an extreme level. Could the mind really cause my heart to function abnormally? I’m now also dealing with feeling off sensations. Slightly dizzy slightly disoriented with head movements like my mind and vision are not on the same page. I can not stop focusing on my vision and head feelings . It’s a vicious cycle. HELP.
Do you know you have skipped heartbeats? Heart palpitations is normal in anxiety. Yes it is normal to think that one is going to die and the heart just poundering. One time I had so mutch anexiety I think I had palpitations for three months. It was all day. And I was sure something was wrong at that time - because as more my heart palpitated the more I knew if you can not get control of your anexiety your heart will get very stressed by having heart palpitations all the time. I almost could not sleep and or rest for that time. And I used a year to resolve it. But now I have a metod for resolving it. You can not belive in everything your brain tells you when you know you have anxiety, So yes this is a most common symtom of anexiety and I know because I have expirienced it my self. Everytime I get heart palpitations due to mye anexiety now - I just do what I was supposed to do. I do not give it attention. I go on with my day. I just mabe do things more slow. But I just do what I was supposed to. And the brain learn that it is not dangerous. All anexiety probably start with a heart starts to pounder. And then just - do what you are supposed to. Push trough it. And you will learn to handle it. You have learned your mind that heart palpitations is a sign of something wrong and it is not. Nothing wrong with having anexity. So then you have to learn your brain - it is not dangerous - and you do that by doing exactly what you where suppose to do. Even if you feel you will faint and die. Even if you feel your hands and feet are tingeling. It is only because of lack of oxygen and a lot co2 because of hyperventilation. Vision can be blurred. Just because of the high co2 from hyperventialtion. This is normal!!! Dizziness is normal because of this!!! This the cause of your anexity just skyrocketing. Off sensations is normal - like depersonalisation. Becauce everything gets unreal beeing so hypervigilant. But - slow down a bit - and do what you are supposed to. Can be small things. So then just slow down a bit - but still do what you was supposed to. This will help your anexiety a lot - and you will soon mabe in a couple of days not react to the anexiety as mutch. And have lesser and lesser heart palpitations if any really soon❤ And if you still get heart palpitations your brain have learned that it is just some anexiety and you just calm down very fast and it never ends in what feels like a really bad panic attac. Can it be this simple? Yes it is. Just take control over your anexity with learning the brain that it is not dangerous. It is not plesant - but it is not dangerous❤ I promise you this: take a leap of faith🙌 This works for granted🤩 You can have relif very fast. When you learn this❤
@@BernerVRshow hello, yes I have confirmed numerous times I have ectopic heart beats. I appreciate all the information and encouragement you have shared. I will continue to try to apply techniques you’ve advised. I pray that one day they will disappear just like the day they magically appeared. Thank you so so much for taking the time to reply.
@@dulcekguerrero Nothing has happened and probably will not your doctor say you are good. I would probably ask someone else for a second opinion - if that is what you need. And then just decide to belive them. And or if you trust your doctor just start «doing it anyway» today! - and not let it stop you for what you are going to do. You can slow a bit down but just try to continue. People who have angina take like nitroglyserin under theyr thung. But you probably does not have that! I am literally in love with your videos! Thanks for sharing such valuable knowledge. My sister is suffering from chronic pain and I think that it is neuroplastic because some criteria are checked such as inconsistency, spread and movement, multiple symptoms, pain always increases after an inadequate night sleep which happens often because she suffers also from chronic insomnia… However, regarding the « lacking physical diagnosis » criteria, some practitioners mentioned that she might suffer from chronic Lyme disease and her blood tests results show immune system dysregulation suggesting a potential bacterial infection. We have been binging on your videos because we finally see some hope and maybe an explanation to what’s happening. However we are wondering if it is possible to have neuro plastic pain/symptoms (fatigue, insomnia…) and at the same time some structural problems such as a disturbed immune system caused by a potential bacterial infection? Actually it’s more than that. The same place in the brain that processes emotions is the same place it processes pain. Thst is why they are linked
