    I've watched all the past videos on this technique and somehow still missed that you flick with your index and make the harmonic with middle finger! I was trying to flick and catch with the same middle finger and found it difficult. Thanks so much for making this.

    • @mc12358

      If you watch Randall Clinic from 1993 Dime I believe flicks with the middle finger (hehe) and pulls off using his index as well. So, this is one of the most accurate tutorials you'll find on RUclips.

  • @manuelone79
    @manuelone79 Год назад +9

    Now I got It: first pull the bar, than hit with index, than slight touch the natural harmonic on the fret with the middle finger, so relax or push the bar while muting the other strings. Do this all the time in memory of Dimebag.

    Awsome video. My number one go to source for Dimebag tricks! I've noticed a couple of things that helped with that elusive second fret harmonic as well as the wah, is lighter strings, I always used to use heavier strings, but since I've started getting wrist problems, and found out what string gauges Dime used thanks to Atilla, but lighter strings is a must for the second fret. I have found since i've gotten better at that, to my ears the 14th fret sound the same as the second fret, but is much easier to catch.

    I came across some pretty convincing evidence recently that Dime use to have a Wah pedal engaged while pulling off squeelies... (usually Grady behind the scenes) would you agree with that theory? I've tried it a lot and it does seem to work a lot better when all those high frequencies are pushed into that state with a wah.

    • @masterskey_
      @masterskey_ 2 года назад +2

      Yes he did have the Wah engaged it was Grady, you can see it in some videos from 1990/1991.

      I still like watching everyone's methods because everyone is built different and sometimes you literally have to do an effect a different way to get the same place - but it's all the squealy in the end that counts. :-)
      Enjoy the video if you haven't seen it! It's f$%^ing awesome.

      @@russellzauner We (dime fan guitarists) all know HOW to do the squeals that dime shows in his guitar clinic video... point is he isn't telling the full story because its HIS trademark. As dime has said before... (if I tell you too much its gonna cost you a whole lot of cash!) But on the DamagePlan sound check video titled "Dimebag Darrell - Guitar Lessons (Young Guitar 35th Anniversary) I eng I remastered" he's drunk and gives it away a little... he engages a wah on the stage and even mentions while teaching the squeals about "wah'ing it up". You can still do it without a wah of course but its IMO nowhere near as effective and certainly not as long and clear.

    • @AttilaVorosOfficial
      @AttilaVorosOfficial  2 года назад +1

      Yep, I believe I actually talk about it in this video. The way helps ALOT with both making it as well as the sustain, though it's doable without

    Any idea how Dime set up his Floyds? He obviously abused the hell out of them. IDK if it's true or not but I remember reading about him ripping the Floyd completely out of one of Kerry Kings guitars.

    • @AttilaVorosOfficial
      @AttilaVorosOfficial  2 года назад +1

      @JJ Groo Yeah You need some height in order not to touch the frets with the strings when tightening/stretching the strings with the bar! Mine is not top mounted and not crazy high, and still be able to push / pull it all the way down on some of my axes... really depends on the exact guitar / setup ;)

      I do... :) That being said, if I stretch em well after putting on, and my floyds / tune o's are not rusty they usually don't break that easy, because many times it's due to those parts getting rusty and sharp, so if You break them more often and in the same place that might need a look - knock on wood...
