I like the look of the mini braids better because I like the length BUT I like doing mini twists more because it is faster to do and it’s just easier
I definitely love the ease of mini twists
I agree mini twist I can do in like an hour or 45 minutes depending on how I feel
Yes.
Ania LaFrance agreed girl braids take waaaaay too long to do.
@@Elledakween the longevity makes it worth it. I can leave them in for a month or two with wash days but twisted last me 1.5 weeks max 😩
“Mini” braids for week one, then using the same parts to transition to mini twists so that they’re already stretched. Game-changing👌🏽
I should add that my braids tend to not be too small for the sake of repurposing them efficiently into twists the following week. Esp to allow for washing the braids before the transition!
Heldana Tewodros oooh I like that idea!
Yeah but as soon as you put water in it (twist) its going to shrink up
Dgyrl C if you wash it with the braids, then apply the styler of your choice once it’s 75% dry, you can twist it w/out as much shrinkage
Thank you ♥️🤔
Braids because they don't unravel as quickily and it has more length ❤
Both are pros to braids so I understand ❤️
And they don't get so tangled 😩
They make my hair appear so flat😩
@@starberrysweetee1495 I get this so much 😩 especially my ends but still my whole head tangles with twists. I say no to twist outs I get tangles with FLAT HAIR 😭😭😭😭
@@starberrysweetee1495 grease your ends
I tried to do the mini braids and got tired. The back of my hair is in mini braids but the front is in a ponytail🥴🥴. I'm gonna finish on the weekend 🤣
💪🏿
🤣🤣 my gurl
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
Lmao the struggle
Twist also sometimes tend to loc depending on how long of a period you leave them in
This is true
Lauryn Chandler i suggest every once a week (depending if you wanna keep your twists in for a long while) you retwist them so that way your hair is being manipulated and not in one place loc’d up
Maintenance is key.. i kept mine in for 3 months.. washed them, deep conditioned them etc. Braid the root about an inch then rope twist the end. My hair retained soo much length it's amazing. I rather minitwists n i do so much with them, bun, pony tail, updo etc etc
Caribbean Goddess Idk why but ive found that braiding the roots, or even braiding my hair in general gives me breakage at the root :/
@@noaddedsugar2930 maybe you do it too tight
Doing mini braids rn during lock down
I did them and my hair grew so long
I can't choose, so I'm just gonna start with braids at the roots and the transition to twists...
I always do my twist that way but it still doesn't change the shrinkage and frizziness that the twisted part cause
NOOO LMFAO
whaaaa
Your eyeballs are so lovely....anyway....wash n go's until my hair gets a little longer to wear twists confidently. Can't wait!
Aww. Thank you love ❤️ that was so sweet 💕 you going to slay when you do 😍
Lol @ eyeballs. Her eyeballs, sis?
Nikki Franklin yes! Lol
LavishlyBritt thank you!!! 😘
the phrase eyeball is so fuckin funny idk why 😭
Braids!! My hair stays so much more moisturized
I can definitely understand why
Team mini braids here! lol Im in love with my mini braids because on me, they look a little better. The twists get frizzy overnight even with a satin scarf and/or pillowcase because im a wild sleeper lol I just spread the installation time over 2-3 days so I dont go crazy since my hair is super thick and super long.
Dang! You must be really wild! 😂 . I definitely understand spreading the installation over a few days it makes it easier
Use twisting gel to minimize the frizz.
Me too! I love mini braids❤
I’m a twist girl. I love love the full look twist give. I embrace the frizz, it’s kinda cute. My blown out hair is almost waist length so curly hair length is no issue. Even when I had my short hair from my big chop I still did twist, gotta love your hair in all its glory, get that confidence sis and own it all 😘
This comment was 2 years ago but it inspires me sooooo much right now. I wanted to do mini twists on my twas but was scared of how it will look. I'm doing them on my crown!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
What I do is wear mini (not really mini but not medium either) braids and wear them for 3 weeks then throughout the third week I wash my hair (before I would use dry shampoo foam), start taking each braid and detangle and turn it into a twist. By the 3rd or 4th day all my mini braids have turned into mini twists. I reapply gel on my ends and seal with an oil, trim where needed and wear the mini twists for another week and then take out for a twist out!
So basically the best of both worlds :)
Density and texture matter! I have tween and teen daughters, with different textures. My type 3 girl needs mini braids because twists as you stated will look frizzy almost IMMEDIATELY after taking alllllll that time to install😭 any style will unravel or require constant retouching. My eldest is type 4 and she can do both with no issue! I braid or twist her hair and it looks neat for wks! So #teamboth and #binge because I need to catch up on those style, take down and wash vids!!!
You are so right. They definitely matter. Shoutout to mama bear for knowing and doing what is best for her daughters. ❤️
I can confirm this having 3C type fine hair. That ish gets frizzy as soon as I’m done with the last section.🤣 It’s so annoying.
I don't really use typing system but I'm probably in the 4s, anyway, my braids are frizzy within days, my strands are fine, so I think your daughter's strands are coarse(thick) and that's why it stays neat for longer, I always envied people for having neat cornrows when I was younger, thought they used some kind of special gel. Mine wouldn't even look neat after walking out the salon.
Wanting locs was a huge reason i started doing mini twists...and now i love doing mini twists MOST the time and still having the freedom to do braids and loose hair on occasion. If you never go all the way to locs, u still get them sometimes! Love ur videos!
Before my big chop I loved mini twists but I “discovered” mini braids and I loved them even more!I completely agree with you! Elongated hair , easy wash and go, and very versatile. The main thing is i would spend hours doing it and even more so taking them out. But I did notice I got faster at it. Can’t wait until my hair grows back so I could do mini braids again.
Yeah I have this weird love hate relationship with the mini braids. I wasn’t expecting to like them at all but ended up liking them but just not more than the mini twists
Chelsie I got mini braids in right now and my hair is twa length 😂😂still rocking it
Both take hella long if you have thick hair and a big head like me. 😂 But if I had to chose definitely TWISTS. Just cause twisting is easier than braiding.
😂 bless your heart ❤️
🧐 I think 3 strand twist need to be added to the mix.
👀😫 oh man. This is something I might have to do. I think I’m up for the challenge
I feel like you calling me out 😂😂😂
LavishlyBritt I’m going down the gauntlet☺️ let’s see it!
Aren't those the same as braids?
Oge O. No they’re twists but with 3 strands
I love braiding the roots and twisting the rest to make sure the style lasts longer
I wore the mini twist for 7 weeks refreshed after 4 weeks ! I think I will try the mini braids to see how I like it! Glad I found this video considering I will be doing my hair tonight 😂
I prefer mini twists. I have wayyy too much hair and it’s mid back length. I just want shrinkage 😩 I love shrinkage.
I mean I got a combination of both in my head rn... i like the look of the braids but i got lazy and twists were faster 😭😭
Lol. I almost did this when I was doing my mini braids too
😂same. But I just braid the root and twist down when I get lazy
I really Love Both Of Them But Mini Braids Only Took Me 3 Hours And They Give Me ALL THE VIBES!❤️
🤩🥰 I’m waiting to find out how much imma like the mini twists it took me like almost 7 hrs to do my mini braids to my hair and my hair is a little bit longer and they were kinda on the small side as well. I thought I was gonna look like a young boy with the braids in but once I put them accessories in bayybee they were good compliments errwhere
😂 lol. I love your energy but slay on sis. I was the same way. Like watcha out now 😂😂
Sad Africa American believe braids ate a masculine style. They were wrn by women. Specifically mini braids/box braids which we were introduced to by eastern Africans (we origanlly called them Egyptian braids in the 70s) and are a female only hairstyle.
Because some racist music corps hired black me to wear ad masculinate our hairstyles is meaningless. Who cares if bow wow and such wear braids? They look gay. We don't look like his when we braid up minus beads and jewels. We look like women😊
Mini twists are easier to take down for me. I like them both but haven't done mini braids in a long time.
I think I'm more likely to take the plunge and do the mini braids. Even if it's just one time for the one time. I wear mini twists all the time.
I think you should try mini braids at least once. You might actually fall in love with it. Never know unless you try
I have mini twists in right now, I don't really mind the shrinkage and frizz
Great! I bet they bomb
Mini twists are my go to style.
I’m definitely adding them to my list. Debating if I’m going to do them this week.
I’m feeling the mini twist but on blow dried/Stretched hair!
My hair's too soft, it unravels if I do twists on blow dried hair
Thank you for making this video, it was 👏🏾right 👏🏾on 👏🏾time!! I’ve been going back and forth on what I want to do with my hair and dreading holding my arms up cause I’m pregnant and it makes me short of breath. I love both styles but I hate how thin my hair looks afterwards. The best solution is to do both: braiding the roots and twisting the rest. 1. You still get the new and fresh look at the scalp for a longer period of time. 2. Your take down time is still shorter. 3. No “scalpy” or thin look because the twists cover up your scalp. Indigenous strandz keeps her twists in almost permanently and has some good tips for long term maintenance. Threading is also an option for keeping them stretched and less frizzy.
Since the quarantine I’ve did my own hair 3 times and y’all make it look so easy especially the parts 😒🙄
I've been rocking & like the twist more
Agreed
I got the mini twists done 3 weeks ago. My hair is thinner and shoulder length. I did have to rod the ends to keep them from being too straight. My hair feels light and looks great.
I love both it just depends on how much time we working with that day.
I have never tried mini braids, I just don't have the patience. My roots would be looking a mess because I can't grip the roots good enough! 😭😂
I've always preferred twist, not only because they're much faster to do, but also because i like how mini twist swell up. Idk why but it just looks more soft to me. I also am not a fan of my scalp showing. Braids look real good too. I just dont care about length that much
I totally agree with all your pros and cons. For me mini anything is gonna HAVE to be twist. My hair is 4C super kinky super thick, super coarse and waist length. I ain't doing no micro braids and doing the take down. No no no no NO!!!🙅LOL The twist are so much easier for me and I don't mind the shrinkage to mid back. Plus I'm always very self conscious of the micro tears that braids do that you can't see with the naked eye. When they're that small I'm always worried about damage. It took me until I got in my 40's to get my hair this long and I don't wanna do anything to ruin it beyond me cutting it by choice. Love ya!!!! 💜
I prefer mini twists, because that install and takedown? a BREEZE 🙌🏾compared to braids
Also, why did you stretch your hair before doing the mini twists and braids? Was to minimize SSK’s?
I prefer the braids bc I feel like the twists will unravel quickly , I also get the stretch like you said
Use twisting gel and they won't unravel 🤗
I braid my mini twists in two and take them out for a nice crinkle look. Great for length !
Sounds so cute! 🤎
I like the mini twists, but the mini braids last longer.
I love pulling and stretching my twist then watching them spring up only downside is they lockup after like 3 weeks for me
I have been SEARCHING for a video like this. Thank you so much for being so thorough!!!
For me mini braids are better because I can wear them for 2 or 3 weeks and they still looking good
I’ve had my mini twists in for 7 months and they’ve grown tremendously. I think I’ll be switching back to mini braids soon tho 🤗
Wow how have you maintained them?
Gurl, im living for that look. You look STUNNING. You really are so gorgeous. Send you love !
I think both do look beautiful on you but mini twists for the win!!
For my hair, mini twist. But mini braids are gorgeous!! I just dont have the density. Team #Minitwist
I like both. If I had to choose id pick mini braids because of the easy wash days and my hair grows better with them. Honestly, when I have my twist in I dont wash my hair and id leave it in for about 6weeks.
Thank God for your channel. I'm happy more people are natural now. 😀
I do a combo. Braid at the root then finish it out with a mini twist
The consistency😍👏🏽
I’m trying love 💕 I’m trying 🥴
Notification Squad!!💜🙋🏾♀️ I think Mini Twist for the Win.😁 You looked Beautiful in both but I love the Mini twist.😊 #Binge
I love the mini twists too. It was just something about them that I really love
Your hair looked juicier with the twist #binge
Yes, I loved the juicy in my twists
Before you loc your hair, can you make a video on how you found a loctician or if you will be starting them yourself & tips on what to look for when choosing a loctician? I’ve been thinking about locing my hair for a year now & I want to choose the best loctician for my hair. Thanks!
I sometimes braid the roots and ends, and just twist in between. It makes it easier to wash.
Interesting
Team mini braids. Got some in now 😍
I’m thinking about doing mini twists again
@@LavishlyBritt as my hair got longer, it started to loc when I mini twists, so that was the end of that😂. It doesn't take much for my roots to want to loc up
@@pwalker827 you can retwist them every week to prevent that
ahh i just took outmy braids, but my hair is in 4 braids now😂 im waiting for my hair to grow a little more so i can wear twists
Please can you drop a tutorial on how you did this look? (The one you had through out the video)
Cause it looks so good on you😍
My hair is really short but im in quarantine and need to take this time to leave my hair alone and let it grow. Im going to try the mini twist for sure
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do
I currently have mini braids.. And my hair is short... And I agree that they can be a little scalpy.. But I honestly don't really mind it... They've been very easy to manage... And I always run water over them when I shower because they also dry quickly
Mini twists all the way, their easy to make and love the full and thick look it gives to my hair (I dont like when people see my scalp) and honestly I dont mind spending an hour every week to tuch up a few twists here and there, and when you use the right products they look super shinny and juicy💦. Plus I got a ton of compliments that there was so much shrinkage going on and my shoulder long twists stretched to bellow bra strap length 😋,
Good job explaining pros cons at the end based on people’s hair needs. I have thin hair and no time. Wish I could do braids
You look flawless in mini braids and mini twist💯💯 haha the installation in no joke when it comes to braids. I started at 8pm and finished at 5am. R.I.P to sleep. But yea i love both but my go to is twist .(easy to do and i have length.) Just trying mini braids out. Not sure about them but when you take them out it looks like a low out 😬😬 im sold on both
Rope twist lol they give u the elongation as they mini braids !
I've tried mini twists and I liked them, but I felt like I looked kind of boyish because they were kind of short (right above my shoulders) so I would take them out after a week and a half of having them. But during Christmas break, I'm going to try mini braids and buy some hair jewels, so I'm super excited!
Mini braids are great I love that my hair looks longer but I think it may take longer to take down as oppose to mini twists. But I love the way mini braids look more than mini twists.
I haven’t tried the mini braids, and I have thick but fine hair; and my hair gets frizzy.
I’m going to try doing the braids this time. But I LOVE the twists for all the reasons you stated. But I don’t feel like constantly redoing my twists every week right now. 😂
Just spent 2 weeks with an unintentional mini twist.. (it was supposed to be a twist out but I did them smaller than usual & didn't feel like taking them out when the time came lol) but I LOVED IT. I'm honestly about to take them down, wash my hair & reinstall them. It was a great low manipulation hair style & I loved how I was able to remoisturize when needed. & when they started to shrink & swell I loved them even more lol. I too an thinking about locs ALOT 🤣🤦🏾♀️
I like twists a lot! and I do like it when it gets frizzy because I pretend to have locs ( I like the look of fully puffy locs) I wish one day I can have the patient to do braids...but I get bored very easily x'D I'll pay someone instead if I have to make that choice.
I love mini twists better and as you said they look like locs when they start to frizz
I love my mini twists. They have lasted 2 weeks going on 3. Yay 💃🏽
I LOVE your hairstyle. If you haven’t already. Can you do a video on hairstyles for twistouts/braidouts? Haven’t found great examples with natural hair so I’ve been watching the 1a hair type varieties but it’s often hard to replicate on my coarser (transitioning) hair.
Haven’t finished video yet, looking forward!
I love me some mini braids! I love how light my head feels compared to braids with braiding hair :D
My hair is an awkward mix of what makes both of them a bad idea... it's too thin and fine for mini braids, but too coily for mini twists (I wouldn't be able to wash them or swim, they'd slip apart)
But I work outside, sweat a lot, have to wear hats and head gear, and generally do not like doing anything to my hair besides two french braids (which don't last). But I really need to do something to just give me more time to not think about my hair so much and mini braids my be it, scalpy and all on this massive dome (people think I have thick hair, and really I just have a big head lol).
I MISS MY LOCS! 😫
I prefer mini twist. Again like you said because of the volume, I love how it makes my hair look fuller. as far as shrinkage goes I tend to hold the ends of my hair taunt and I concentrate the heat with my blow dryer at the routes to mid-shaft to give my hair a little bit of a longer look. but I love wearing mini twists especially on humid days or when it's raining or when I just need something quick that's going to last a while.
new subscriber!!! even though i'm 11 you helped me so much with my hair and it grew about 2 inches! tysm britt !
I honestly don’t know lol. I’ve done mini twists before but never mini braids and I must say I can’t stand the frizz. Mines gets frizzy wayyy too fast
i recently did mini braids and it took almost twice as long to take them out as it did to put them in
I would love to know what you’re using on your lips. I like the color
I love the twists 🥰
Everyone love my twist. Last time I did it when I was in jail last year😂😂. The girls loved it. Was so fascinated. Tomorrow I’m going back to it. I can’t wait.
I love doing mini braids on my hair. I’ve been wearing them a lot lately . They last longer on my hair .
i am also considering locs but ion yet cause i do like getting my hair blown pressed and or flat ironed ya know😂 it's the versatility of it the choices but yo the price for sister locs crazzzzyyyy
I like both methods, so I braid the root about a 1/4 of my hair down, then I twist the rest. Honestly I've never done mini versions on it, but I think that I definitely wanna try it
Girl I love this hairstyle. Imma have to do this soon. I’m planning on doing mini twists after thanksgiving too so you’re inspiring all of my hairstyles
Aye. I love it. I need to create a hashtag for the fam to use when they recreate my styles. I love seeing them 😍
Looking so beautiful as ALWAYS!
I know Noelle is getting so tall
She is so cute and funny!
Have you ever partner with
Hergivenhair???
I think you have so many beautiful styles to choose from! With the baby hair added
Love you sis
Team mini twist, I just don't have the density for mini braids.
Mini-braids are always a favorite but Mini-Twists are quicker and easier if you're short on time. Anything having to do with braids are my go to but it takes so long since my hair is thick and long. Twists are always "jucier" lol
...braid at the root a little will help style last longer. Worked well for me
I love both of them when i need my hair to rest whatever my mood is that what the hair style gone be lol
I feel you on that. #mood
@@LavishlyBritt Yess boo
Oh & you looked great in both
How about combining both maybe mini braid your roots & mini twist the rest? 🤔
Definitely doing mini braids
Gorgeous!
@7:03 I have never seen anyone braid like that before 🤔
I’m watching this and I have Locs . Going to watch the styling video. That should help me
I’m probably going to go with the mini twist
Soooo I’m in love with your channel and I actually want to make a natural hair channel, but I’m not really sure where to start as far as editing now the chances of you responding is little to nun but Hey its worth a shot 😂❤️
Just start boo. Find your own style, be inspired by other but dont copy! People will see through it and you will get tired of it quick!
I’m team Mini Twists but after watching this video I’d definitely try mini braids to see which one works best for me!😊
Both Mini Braids and Twist looks fabulous on you! But I like the Mini Twist on you... it gives a Lauryn Hill vibes!
Your videos are wonderful I've been braiding my own curly white girl hair for around 22 years with kanekelon but I think I'm going to try the mini twist & see without kanekelon . You rock both styles 👌🏼 😉 thank you so much 🙏🏼🥰
i wanna try both styles but see i dont have the patience to sit there all them hours doing those. one day i might try those styles though because i get tired of doing my hair every week.
Braids lol...twists always undo themselves😭too early
Rightttt I get lazy so I braid my root and twist the rest
I have been doing mini braids in the back and mini twist in the front. I could easily fix the front weekly and I don't have to worry about the back for 4 weeks. I agree that it is easier to wash with mini braids. I like that.
I have to either rinse or wash my hair 5 times a week because I work out HARD and then hit the sauna. So, I sweat like a man. My scalp burns from the swear before I get home from the gym. Due to having to wash or rinse, my twists look gone with the wind the end of Day 1. Mini braids may be better for me. Thanks for the info. 😍
I haven’t tried mini braids yet only because twists are quicker, now I will say that my twists will need a re-do after 5-6 days EASY. Also my hair likes to knot up with the twists, which I do not like at all 😭
So I’m going to try the braids soon to see how I like them. And I completely agree with her below 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 you have beautiful eyes Britt.
