The first Native American wrestler I can remember that worked heel and he was great at doing so . I also remember his match with Ric Flair, from the first Battle of the Belts, as being a classic.
As a Kid of the 60s and early 70s I looked up to Wahoo. We did not have many Native sports heroes in those days. Later in my life I worked a few of his matches as a cop!
To my knowledge he is not in the Hall of Fame. What the ? It's time Wahoo gets his due. He may have not wrestle under the WWE banner but, WWE owns all the rights to WCW Etc. Vince do the right thing and put Wahoo in the HOF.
The toughest wrestler of the mid Atlantic era the uncrowned NWA world champion. Saw wahoo many times great man got my first picture autographed by him in 1974 still many today.
It was probably 1971 I was 10. My sisters boyfriend took me to charlotte park center. Main event was blackjack bs wahoo. It was a blood bath. On the way home we stopped at a convenience store for a soda. Who pulls up??? Blackjack and wahoo in the same car. Blackjack went in for a 12 pack. At that moment I knew how it was. I was 10 and 100% believer. But honestly it didn’t ruin my love of it. I’m 62 now and still watch.
I remember when Cornette went off calling Wahoo and Ronnie Garvin wrestling's answer to Fred and Barney for laughs . After their match with them The Midnite Express admonished him to NEVER make that joke again . Fred and Barney stiffed the bejesus out of them all night over that jibe .
Legend is a word that's been cheapened as of late . This guy was a verifiable legend in wrestling . George South worked during legendary time but he is no legend .
Wow , this guy seems so down to Earth . Like his nature is to be friendly and talk to people . I had heard he looked rough fighting his kidney ailments but he looks pretty good . Glad to know he did not linger in pain .
I really enjoyed this interview Wahoo McDaniels was a legend played in the NFL on top of being a professional wrestler that super cool rest in peace champ
My favorite wrestler!..Had the coldest stare! The greatest US Champion ever! One can tell how much he loved his son…When southerners continuously refer to their son as “My boy”,they really love that child…Chief, you were truly loved & truly missed
