@@gigit1111 fk ....i get goosebumps just reading quotes here, let alone hearing the music, what magic does this film contain ❤❤ The Hollywood (zombie LasVegas) film from the other year was from a director who loved Excaliber and filled his movie with it and some of the music, he did a cool interview on it, think it is the "movies that changed my life" podcast
I will never forget the first time i saw this brilliant film. It had just been released, 1980 i think, and was playing on the big screen at a local theatre. Back then, there was still a lot of experimenting with mind altering tiny little things in my circle of friends. So, i found myself going to see it alone, and with the name Excalibur, i knew it would be a magical, mystical film. So, i thought i might try an experiment for the first time at the movies, having only done this before at several rock concerts and a few parties. Can you imagine what it must of been like for me. I took this little thing on the way there in the car. I arrived and i nervously stumbled to my seat and started to feel a powerful surge running through my whole being, i was barely hanging onto reality... And then.. Excalibur began.. With those opening lines, with soft horns music, each one pulling me deeper and deeper into the film(which hadnt shown any scenes yet!) Then.. Bang! Excalibur emblazoned across the screen in gleaming, shining letters, with a thunderous blow of horns. From that moment i was riveted to my seat as every second of this masterpiece drew me in more and more. The big difference here was that what i had taken had hypnotically taken me right into every scene as though i was right there with Merlin, with a young Arthur. I could notice every microscopic detail as the sheer elation i was getting from what was playing out. There were also moments of fear at what may happen next, i felt just what Arthur, Merlin and Uther felt. It would be way too long for me to say how many parts i was spellbound with, though the first hour or so is very potent in that capacity. Ive seen it 4 times this past week and how i ended up here, was that i was doing some searches to find the names of the parts of music that are so brilliantly blended with some scenes. So, thats my story of my first journey with the majesty of Excalibur. If you try to recall how impacted you were upon your introduction to it, you may be able to get a sense of what im hoping to express. John Boorman, his excellence to craft such a spell so great that i truly felt like i was right there, i was awestruck. Every time i have seen it over all these years, i do relive that 1st time i saw it, but only to a lesser degree as that was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
The score does have a sort of medieval and, especially with the trumpets, a chivalric sound in it. Overall "Excalibur" is probably the most amazing Arthur movie ever made.
A requested score, that made me watch the movie again in years. The music is really well done by Trevor Jones, although I have the feeling that much of his music was rejected and got replaced by the known Wagner tracks (which fit not badly indeed). The tracks on the CD however were put together and mixed (I guess its the film mixing) miserably, that made it hard for me to edit them at least in acceptable quality. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

It also doesn’t help that it’s interrupted three times by “blessed “ advertisements which completely ruins the effect of listening to a fantastic score like this.
Just heard bits of this in a 1938 movie about STDs, Syphilis and Gonnorhea which are rising up once again! So this music is very apropos to today's time including this highly contagious deadly Covid19 and it's different variants , a modern day "plague'! This soundtrack is brilliant needless to say~ very sweeping emotionally! There have been so many musical film scores that have been true masterpieces, since the Golden Age of Hollwoody, primarily music by the late great film composer Max Steiner all the way up to today! The musical score for "Interview with a Vampire and "The Who" are other masterpieces says this unknown composer of classical, folk inspired music and full length folk opera. Thank you Soundtrack Fred.

Are you talking about the Bullitt soundtrack? I bought the original LP version in the 70s then bought a CD version in the 90s with identical tracks. A few years ago I bought a newer CD (on Amazon) that begins with all the original LP tracks (some of which are different than the actual movie tracks). The newer CD added the original film music tracks and many additional ones in the film but not on the vinyl or the first CD, including the Shifting Gears full version. Love listening to Shifting Gears when driving. Don't have a '68 Mustang 2 + 2 but I do drive a '70 GTO convertible with a 4-speed.
In classical music terms, this arrangement is a disaster. Not because of the music, which is awesome, but because of the continuity and smoothness. There is none between movements
Definitely a fun Arthur movie, with hammy acting, fantastic battle scenes and some unintentional humor among its serious sorcery. The use of Wagner's music, though, is at times laugh-out-loud comical, especially when quotes from Tristan & Isolde (3:35) come crashing into a scene from nowhere. The original music by Trevor Jones fits the campiness better. Even Fred's considerable suite-construction skills cannot hide the schizophrenic nature of the musical accompaniment.
