8:26 I think burst attacks from automatic weapons are considered separate from area attacks so it's not bugged it's working as intended.

Yes, concentraded fire working on burst is a bug. Rapid Fire = Burst , Concentraded = Area (flamers, melta, plasma)
This is how I ended up building mine, but I had hoped to be able to have him be Arch-Militant or Vanguard so I could get the Space Wolf roleplay (there are long-range Space Wolf Orders, but seeing the other Space Wolf NPCs in battle shows to me that the group sent to the Koronus Expanse is meant for short range combat)
Him coming at a higher level by default really ruins any chance of him being a good arch-militant or melee character though, and I really don't understand why Owlcat keeps doing this in all their games instead of allowing full respec. Every game, people will use the early companions way more because they're simply stronger. Congrats for the build making him work!

And to put salt in the wound, not only is his build pretty much set in stone. But they build him totally wrong.
They literally talents with useless picks, for example, the pick that improves medium armor.

Have you tested "Pair Holster" on him with his bolt pistol? I find it really good to get tons of free attacks with really good damage for simple mobs. Ofc no where near as good as heavy weapons

Any chance for a Jae build? You kinda get her in an awkward spot when it comes to officers.
Considering what you have created with Argenta and her heavy bolter, I think Ulfar would be better suited for a tank/secondary burster build, as the soldier archetype seems to hint.
Could you explore the idea in more detail?

I have a burst build with sister Argenta, she also does 400+ dmg, the burst set up is really awesome. And helped a lot in the unfair fight against the wordbearers
Argenta can kill the whole Koronus Expanse in a single turn. My record with Argenta is 200000+ damage with a single burst attack of 42 fire rate. Ofc 90% of that damage was spent shooting nothing but air because there is not a single enemy with that amount of wounds even with the highest difficulty and max enemy wounds setting.

Highest hp I have seen was like 3.8k demon engine thing that I killed with her. You are supposed to destroy 4 generator thingies to weaken him, but burst fire weakened him plenty enough :D

Would love to see what you can do with the "Deadshot Splinter Rifle" (25-35 dmg, 6 fire rate, 7 recoil, 20% AP). Once I found that, I respeced my RT around it. I cannot imagine a more amazing gun tbh.

the +1 versatility from soldier ultimate, is that how it's supposed to work? There used to be a bug with versatility where every burt gave you 2 versatility stacks, this also looks like a bug to me.
Wildfire is better for getting more stacks of versatility since the attack you get from it is considered different so you can use a burst attack, flashfire->burst attack, and another burst attack netting you 3 versatility.
With Argenta, I hit the end boss 5000+ for each ammunition in a burst attack of 42 fire rate. Theoritacally that single attack dealt 200k+ damage but ofc the boss died after the first ammunition :D
Argenta can be even stronger due to better gear/talents!
I have Argenta for burst weapons with very similar build. Is there any way to make Ulfar useful with something else?
I'm using Ulfgar for the first time and I'm at level 36... I'm kind of vaguely disappointed with him, he doesn't do nearly as much as Yrliet or Argenta. Maybe I have the wrong weapons on him? I gave him Astartes Bolt Pistol, Astartes Combat Knife, and Astartes Bolter. Argenta has my only heavy bolter and she's gonna keep it because she's amazing. :)
So, is there any point to normal bolters, or are only heavy bolters of any use?
Ulfar with two officers in your party (I'm running an officer/psyker build, and Cassia) just makes Ulfar completely overpowered. You buff him up, and he just runs off and kills everything. Half of my party didn't get an attack before I took down a Chaos Marine and deamons while warp travelling a dangerous route
hehe, two officers makes everything easier. I actually started using only one officer because all the fights were getting too "samey"
Unfair for the enemies
I don't think point blank is bugged, it works on area attacks so shotguns, framers and plasma aoes. Not burst attacks.
Rapid Fire and Concentration Fire stacking is a bug. Your ULFAR at 12:59 gaining 1 stack of versatility per single shot, one after other, are also a bug. You have to use burst-single-burt or Wildfire. Pretty standart build to any ranged companion.

How to reduce the recoil from the calibrated heavy stubber? Your vid show 50 recoil, and later 25.
Concentrated Fire shouldn't work with bursts, this was intended for actual area attacks like flamer/melta/plasma and fixed in recent patches.
It's still working for Burst, though.
I guess the main issue is how misleading the game is for what counts as "Area Attack", some works for Burst, others don't.
And in the end Burst DOES target an area, always.
I'd thought that ranged area attack and ranged burst attack is 2 different things and what affects one wouldn't affect the other considering there are talents stating 1 or the other but never both.

Not gonna lie, a build I want to see the most - the one where my character can actualy deal damage suited for Unfair and still being able to buff and pass skill checks. Now it mostly goes only one way for unfair builds.

You can buff + deal huge AoE damage AND make the Coercion/Persuasion/Commerce checks at least.
You should also be able to focus all out on INT for more skills and pick the Voidborn talent that lets INT count for Fellowship skills.
@@cRPGBro That's fair, and i actualy realised it two minutes after writing this comment, but I really realy refered to 40.000 style of commander, who runs with a sword at the enemy even faster than his followers while still being a capable commander.

I know you put it in the how to play section, but I still don’t understand how your dmg numbers are so high, the highest I get is 9 not 90?

I think you can get the heavy stubber in act 3
Yep, you can increase Kasballica Mission Faction high enough for it during Act 3, which is why I'm using it with Ulfar in the Act 3 video footage.
Just to note that "Burst attacks" are NOT intended to be "Area Attacks". It only works now because it's bugged. This bug has supposedly been confirmed by Devs on the forums, as well as in the code by moders. So do NOT upgrade Concentrated Fire or other such talents, unless you don't want to update your game when they fix this bug.

Burst is area attack actually, but not every area attack is burst.
@@cRPGBroYes, they need to make the description more clear. The game lists burst-attacks and area-attacks separately in many places. Burst-attacks are multiple single-shots, each calculated separately.

Small tip to people disappointed with Ulfar - he gets crazy powerful gear in late act 4, before that he's pretty meh

Do Burst attacks still count as Area attacks?
I believe they do, at least Concentrated Fire is still working with it.
Some say it's not intended by devs however, despite the fact well... Burst does hit an area, always.

Ikr I was thinking ablard was kind of weird and would've prefer him as a soldier than a warrior and a space wolf being like a 2h axe style would be the warrior. And we can't even respec down to the core 😢

You can, but party members all start at a static level regardless, and the "late" ones like Ulfar come for exemple at level 20, meaning you can only respec them from 20+
I recruited him but lost him and some other chars cuz i chose heretical path for secret chaos space marine companion haha and when i finally got that chaos space marine, i couldn't use him thanks to bug................ Stopped playing until they release a patch to fix it.

How did you bypass armor of enemies?
Cassia's Undam the Sea of Souls + Pasqal's/Idira's Expose Weakness.
It's why I like Cassia & Pasqal as Grand Strategist to always act first and debuff enemies!
Bolters also have a talent for 10% Armor Bypass if you want.
Point Blank Talent from Soldier should also help a lot but I don't think it's working at the moment.
Why does his shooting gets disabled? Sometimes I can only use melee
In most cases, you can't fire ranged weapons at melee range! So try to be one square away from enemies.

Yes, as Burst is still godly post patch, and if anything Ulfar has been buffed a bit by it so it's even better!

Still confusing area and burst attacks.
My issue is the game doesn't do a good job at establishing a difference between them, and currently there are many feats for Area that work for Burst just fine.
For me ulfar is bugged. Also at 85/95% he always miss. I play on unfair.

I understand why they set the basic archetypes for the companions so that Argenta can't be an officer or Cassia can't be a warrior, because that wouldn't fit their characters at all. But why do they not allow us to respec them from level 1 on how we want? What is the point of that exactly? Ulfar has so many abhorrently bad picks in his warrior line...like...he has Second Skin which allows him to wear medium armor without impeding his dodge chance...only that he can't even wear medium armor.
So if they don't let us respec companions we get later completely (and I don't see a reason why they shouldn't!) Owlcat should at least make sure that the things they pre-pick make a modicum of sense.

Ulfar will always be level 20 when you get him and even when you respec him you will always start at level 20, with all the bad picks the developer already made for him.
I personally also don't get why Owcat is still intent on limiting party member respec like this.
It just makes the earlier party members way better due to more customization, just like in Wrath of the Righteous.
Spent hours playing this game, made it to act III only to miss Ulfar… no way I’m going back 5+ hours to get him so it’s save to say that as much as I loved this game, I won’t be playing anymore. Missing Ulfar, the only space marine, just made me quit the game entirely
You aren't missing much, my argenta hits way harder...she hits for like 50+ per bullet and when she does a burst..... Like 16 shots... Yah. I probably built him badly or something ...was trying to get that whole "space marine chainsword and bolter feel" for him but it sucked.
Owlcat make great games but I wish they would stop making companions that can't be respecced without mods.

Bolters just don't look as cool on him!
Too tiny for his size, even Heavy Bolters.
But they can be used together with is why I recommend the Improved Heavy Bolter on the gear section.
