Thanks Pastor Skip - regarding 1 Samuel 2:27 you mentioned how you admire the phrase “man of God”. In a cemetery next to Ellet Church in Akron, Ohio is the grave of a man who many considered a 20th-century prophet. His name is Aiden Wilson Tozer and on his gravestone are the words, “A MAN OF GOD”. What higher honor can there be? God bless!

I wonder if God allowed this to play out as it did, Samuel waking up Eli 3 times, so that Eli would know that it was the LORD calling on Samuel; since a few scriptures before the Bible made it known that the word of the LORD was rare?

Yes! My thoughts exactly! Not only so Eli would realize that God isn’t speaking to him, the priest..... but to a child. While teaching Samuel how to determine His voice from another. As well as making sure Eli knew, so that he would ask Samuel what God told him. That way Samuel wouldn’t fear so much that he allowed that fear to not speak up and tell Eli. God gave Samuel that extra motivation to speak up.

Having a crucifix or statue doesn't mean you worship it any more than having a wedding picture or picture of your children means that you worship those.
