- This teaching is from the series 1 Samuel - 2021 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.
Though the nation of Israel had renewed their commitment to the Lord and emerged victorious over the Philistines, 1 Samuel 8 reveals the moment they once again rejected their God. Demanding that an earthly leader rule over them, the Israelites proved they did not want to relinquish control to the Lord. In this teaching, we are challenged to evaluate who is ruling over our lives.

A local church graciously opens their facilities for our Bible study class. I’ve been a part of this Bible study for years & have spent many hours in & around their church building. Last night as we entered the building, I glanced to my right & saw a large rock imbedded in the ground. The plaque on it said it was in gratitude for God’s faithfulness with a date upon it. It was an ebenezer! What a wonderful surprise after I just listened to this message. And we are studying 2 Samuel right now.
God's servants said REPENT & BE BAPTIZED.....baptism is an essential saving ordinance.

Great teaching pastor Skip! Kudos to you for letting people come forward and pray the prayer of salvation with you as well. More churches should dare to do this
I like his example through testimony about the refund check. If we're being transparent and honest, How easy it can be to put faith in tangible things more than God's promises.

Baptism by immersion by one who has authority is essential.....is scriptural! Confessing Christ is a good start...covenanting with Christ (baptism) is required by Jesus (John 3 : 5).
Jesus is the best King... The ONLY TRUE KING.... Jesus is High Priest, Prophet and King.. The Transfiguration indicates this... MOSES High Priest, Elijah Prophet, Jesus King... Jesus is Lord.... High Priest Melchizedek, Jesus Prophet, Jesus King

Good overall. A bit too filled with personal anecdotes (on Huntington Beach and the Surfing and staying in New Mexico) for a single book of I Samuel. And on Skip’s appeal for smaller government, that is great and idealistic. Yet if We, as Americans, take that approach, something worse is likely on the Horizon. Government is not the problem, it is up to each of us with a solid foundation in our Faith to make government better as We all have to live together.
🤦🏽♀️ Would you say this to this pastor in person or would you just leave the assembly? Everything lawful is not expedient and entitlement does not entail respect. Take what you need and move around. What's not for you IS for someone else. ❤
