- I built this in my home shop. I purchased the quick tach plate from ebay. All steel was scrap I had laying around. The 4x4 box tube was from an old railroad welding frame jig. The 1.5x10 bar stock was donated to me several years ago from a local shop. The bar stock has imperfections and is not dimensionaly correct, so they scrapped a pallet of it / gave it to me. The pointy pieces are forged sickle guards from a combine I parted out a few years ago. I have a few videos on that as well. check them out. I am very happy with the results this rake produces. It works great and its extremely heavy duty. This thing is a beast. measures 8 ft wide and only sticks out 4 ft from the attachment plate. I probably only have less than $400 in this project. Im figuring $200 for the attachment plate. and $200 for welding wire and gas/electric. it was a lot of welding. If I would have purchased a similar unit I would have had to spend over $3000 for something like this and it still wouldn't be as heavy duty or as wide most likely.
