Shiver Minnow Green Bay WALLEYES!

Throwing shiver minnows, or "shiver minnowing" has become one of my most favorite ways to catch any species of fish over the last 5 years. It's a very active fishing experience, one in which you are never bored because any snap could be your next bite. It's the middle of July in Green Bay and the shiver minnow bite is just heating up. As the water temps rise in the middle of the summer, so too does the walleyes metabolism, allowing you to get very aggressive with your fishing techniques. It is a true reaction bite. Things are just getting started with this bite as it traditionally continues into the fall months. We had a great day on Saturday morning (sorry the date is wrong in the video....we fished on 7/15) and it didn't take us long to get on active fish. We had the same net and while fishing Chequamegon Bay it broke on a decent smallmouth. Ran all the way to Duluth to get a Beckman net. Best net built IMO

I really wanted to get a different brand but I caved and bought a new handle to save some cash. I’m sure I’ll regret it. I’ll remember the Beckman name. Thanks!

I actually use a bass mojo rod for this technique. Medium action with an extra fast tip. Need some back bone for the snapping technique. I love my St. Croix Triumph for jigging though.

EGO S2 slider net. To be fair I did reef on it four years ago pulling the boat out of the garage but the slider mechanism and handle were already in rough shape. You have any recommendations on a new net?
