one of the subtle things about this piece is how all the grains of the different rings still lined up, very nice.
At 2:58 you can see a small dot on each ring as he mounts them together. So it was clearly both intentional and carefully done.

My migraines weren't a fan of it while spinning, but when the lathe stopped I was impressed. Very original idea, and like usual a splendid execution!

Like how you adapted your lathe with buffer wheels for polishing....if it saves money, space, and does just as good of a job as the actual tool, then I'm all for it!
I've seen other wood turners use their lathes for buffing. I think the attachments are readily available.

I love everything about this! Including the wobbly carnival-ride sensation of watching that go round and round. The lineup of the grain made it perfect! Beautiful. And that little piece at the end was like watching a barnacle get knocked off. Whack!

Oh my gosh Andy, this project is absolutely beautiful, is it a dish? I'm not sure, I would never put anything in it for fear of damaging it. It's so pretty as an optical illusion piece. I can imagine more of these in different shapes like oval and in different colours, you would for sure be able to show at a gallery, its that beautiful. Thank you for sharing Andy xxx
