In California almost all weigh stations suck.
Yeah......had more pull ins and inspections there than all the rest combined.......one trip three in two days......never hope they'll let you go....have the right stuff to show....now with elec logs ....what do you do...
YES BANNING IS TERRIBLE 😎😎
Banning is by far the worst, the guy on 15 south into cajon junction was okay but its been awhile.
Its cali, the whole state sucks.
California sucks period
West bound, Truckee… driving for Yellow/Roadway so teamster, pulled in twice. The memorable occurrence, was a check of my paperwork… told me that he could shut me down for something. I said, “go ahead; I make 25.40/hr to sit as a union driver.” He threw the log book back at me and told me to leave… He had no power over me. Bullies that can’t make it as an HP officer.
Late one night I had one tell me 500 feet from truckee scales at that agricultural inspection sight to pull it off to the side..
The way he motioned to me I could tell clear as day he was wanting to flex some abuse of power on me.. most likely bad mood.
Well I was hauling milk that night, and I had been through there enough times to know they dont inspect milk in food grade tankers because in order to do that they have to cut the seals on the dome lid to take a sample. If the seals get cut/tampered with the customer will reject the entire load of dairy comodity costing the shipper and other parties involved the cost of the load.
In some cases it can be $90,000 worth of cream or $70,000+ worth of milk in that particular case it would virtually end up being the state of California would have to buy the load over a bad decision made by a state employee, it would end up in court for sure.
I just waived at him, and rolled on through and didnt bother stopping, pretty much did him a favor as well as myself I suppose otherwise there was no legit reason when the truck had a big billboard that said MILK.
@@ArizonaChris96 my dad was an owner/operator for 20 years he has pretty bad anxiety every time he sees a scale house. His more memorable story was scaling east bound Montana, weighed fine. Headed across the boarder into North Dakota. Before he got to the scales the car at the MT scale house passed him and was sitting parked next to the car at the North Dakota scale house… low and behold! He was over weight… interesting. They don’t take a check… only cash! (Someone wanted beer money for the night). I think dad had to cross another two scales before he delivered, no issues.
@@TorturedPeace They were some crooked A-holes for sure.
That's funny! I had a DOT Cop in Vermont at one of the scales that was open, no permanent scales there, look at my logbook which showed 4hrs to cross PA. Cop said "how fast does your truck go"? I told him I had a co-driver in the sleeper. He tossed the book back and said "hell, I can't figure that crap out get out of here". We both laughed and off I went.
@@ArizonaChris96 I haul chemical tanker. Eastbound I-40 entering California. They dont inspect hazmat tanker. Female inspector says she wants to see my papers. I told her "no thanks". She said I have to do what she tells me to do. I say "thankyou, no". She says she'll report me to CHP. I started to roll out and saying "Ok, thankyou!". They dont inspect tankers. Nothing ever came of it. I go through that scale twice every week.
Back in the day I always traveled the scenic route. Better off staying out of sight and out on mind.
Why are you scared ? It’s easier to just learn the times and follow them
Same here always stay on back roads if possible it will save you alot of headaches!!
My friend blows the Banning, CA scale all the time, when he sees a fellow trucker smashing on the hammer lane, he follows, and the rest tag along... Can't get us all.
Can't git us all...✌🏽😅❤
Helps to have Pre-pass
His luck will run out, one day. And that's a BIG ticket. Plus they'll make him turn around and go back to the scale with a level 1 coming his way. At that point, get ur wallet out.
Been doing that for years. They're always so busy, just get in with some mega carriers with prepass and keep on truckin
Lol I know people that have been chased down and made to go back. I know a friend that also blows it all the time. I could never do it, after I once blew the one on Blythe and got a $1,200.00 ticket. Mind you this was at least 12 years ago.
The one on 71 in KY has never given me an issue, but we've got prepasses in our trucks... but either way I firmly believe the DOT should be heavily defunded and weigh stations should be considered illegal and turned into rest areas
Yeah, forget defund the police. Defund the DOT.
Defund the FMCSA
Defund the government AKA mind control
Well illegal yes because they use Selective LAW ENFORCEMENT ! That is , they "pick and choose" who they want to inspect.
Weigh stations are design to protect road and bridges, but there are some asshole DOT officers. I know that WY weigh station well, used to hit it going into Salt Lake City . That station at one time you had to stop and carry you paper work in, if you bypass you get lights there. That MD weigh station were its set at you can miss the sign, it set like in the middle and you actually have to know it’s there you ll mess it and you get light and they tell you to go back around then pull in
Banning is the worst, the only time it’s closed is after an earthquake when they have to repair the scale
I never went in to WS in Banning always drive through, never got caught in the last 9 years
Just blow the scale at Banning hit that center lane & Hammer Down

I-5 just inside Oregon coming out of Cali, been stopped there every time and cited for something always paperwork or registration based. If they can't find something wrong with your truck they'll think of something.
Got my first and only citation there. My drive tire had gone flat coming down I-5 between weed, CA and there. So when I pulled on that scale automatic inspection. Only thing wrong besides the tire that did not blow but lost air, that I had no idea about. I had gone slightly over my 14hr clock the day before and was cited. My ELD showed I had hours when I shut down that night so idk how that happened. Damn Qualcomm lol
Lol yep. I live in Oregon. Drive all 50’ states. Got 3 tickets in 12 years all of them in Oregon. 2 at the Ashland Poe. Those people that work there ha e their own interpretation of the laws and just can’t wait to write tickets. Guess none of them have families to support. Dot is supposed to be here to help us not wage war on truckers.
@@Species-yy5ng its not called asland for nothing
Ashland scale in Oregon or any open port of entry scale is bad, no matter what state you're in.
Why can't you keep your paperwork in order? It is not that complicated.
Oregon will even clock you from weigh stations to weigh stations to see if your speeding and write you a ticket.
Kentucky to on 24
Back in the 70’s-80’s when the speed limit was the double nickel, Arizona compared your time when you went through the chicken coop at one end of the state on I-40 and the one at the other end and if you did it too quick, you got a ticket for speeding. One company I drove for had me in a short wheel base cab over intertrashnel with a 300 Cumins and a nine speed tranny. It had a little short gear shift stick on the dog house. Anyway, when I got a load maxed out at 80,000, I had to run with my fifth wheel adjusted way forward to be legal on my drive axles which gave me a really rough ride. I solved that by keeping the slide rails of my fifth wheel really slick and when I saw a sign that said for all trucks next exit for a chicken coop, I’d stop on the shoulder, unlock my fifth wheel, lock my trailer wheels and run the fifth wheel up front, lock the fifth wheel and go through the weigh station. After leaving it, I do that and stretch it out again. All the way back was center of my drive axles and tons more comfortable ride. The company had that cumins governed for 64 mph and it was a real dog on a hilly road. If you hit the bottom of a hill at 55 with the next hill directly ahead, you were down in the gearbox by the time you topped out on the next hill. The only way I could make any time at all was to use my “Oklahoma overdrive” going down hills.
Oregon time stamps you at every scale you CROSS AND every time your prepass goes off & can give you a speeding ticket for a week prior useing that method.
Oklahoma has been doing that on the turnpikes since the late 80's
Banning got busted in '94 when Federal Marshalls sent an undercover truck in to the scale and it was tagged for loose brakes. Immediate arrest of the inspector
They need to that everywhere, keep them straight.
I agree, they need to set up those stints in every scale house in every state with those nice bait trucks
Kool. That means a state boy got hooked up. Nice!
Are you sure it wasn't '90? Back then the Inspection Station management in almost all of Cali became a little too brazen with their kickback schemes with road service operators. The FBI set up a sting with more than a dozen companies with brand new, pre inspected trucks. After 6 months of gathering the evidence (video, sound and paperwork trails) the arrest raids were coordinated across the state at the same time. They charged dozens of inspectors and supervisors with some pretty heavy federal crimes. The woman who ran the Truckee facility got 10 years. The dude that ran Banning got 5 years. Truckee, Banning and Tehachapi (Kern County), were shut down for close to a year...
@@malcolmmetzler6726 It may have been. It's getting harder to see back that far lol
Even as a Greyhound Bus driver. I found the only scale in Iowa that scaled buses. Most of the time it was closed. But I left out of Omaha going East to Chicago and I was loaded. As we got close to that scale of course it was open. I pulled the bus over and told everyone on board what was going to happen. And that when we got there, for everyone to get off the bus, walk across the street to a gas station, and wait for me there.
So I get to the scale, the inspector is looking right at me thru his window. I open the bus door, and everyone gets off the bus, and walks to the gas station. I close the door, and start moving towards the scale. The inspector is laughing his ass off. I'm on the scale waiting for the ok to leave, and finally get a "green light" and proceed off the scale.
I pull the bus ahead a bit, open the door, and everyone gets back on board. I'm standing by the door of the bus helping people get back on the bus, and looking towards the Inspectors office, and he is just laughing. I ran that route for another 3 months.
That scale was never open again.
Yeah, from what I've been told if you have a bus full of passengers generally they won't take up too much of your time unless there's a blatantly obvious safety hazard
I'm surprised he didn't DEMAND you put yer 'load' back on the bus n' go round again! Awesome story.
lol thats priceless
Once a rookie DOT officer wanted to ticket an bull car . The Sr. Officer told him to leave it alone. He crawled under that , and got an eye full of diarrhea all over himself! 🤣😂😅 there was no one that didn't laugh their asses off!!
I know a cow hauler who was pulled over in ne. and trooper got irrigated. Driver laughed until trooper effed him over
Yuma, az is a bad chicken coop to go through. This is exactly why all the great truck drivers are leaving the industry because every time u turn around there is some bullshit fine
My guy when ! 😂😂😂💀 Yuma is always closed!!!
I go through the Yuma AZ scale quite often it's only closed at night but if you know the area you can bypass it pretty easily and yes they are known for raping drivers hard they also are known for crap ton of roadside inspections so you're not safe anywhere honestly, only safe at night their cars are solar powered lol
I’ve never been stopped at Yuma before
Yuma is the best town in the USA.
I'm really surprised that the new Super Coops at Manchester, Tennessee was not mentioned, they have always been notorious for truckers, I'm so happy that I am retired now and I have been since the start of the ELD, I truly feel so sorry for you out there now and I appreciate your dedication!!
Thay have always been bad, easy to avoid it
I'm right behind you. I have one contract through October. My final one is up at the end of January. Then I'm going to only do part time favor loads, that will keep me busy about 5or 6 days a month. Unless I decide riding is more fun than driving, and sell everything.
@@rickallen1908 of you work your truck less than 8 days in thirty then you do not have to have elog !
But that’s not 8 days a month it’s 8 days in any thirty
Banning. I always parked at the dinos and waited for the scale to back up, then garbed gears and rolled as fast as I could. This was back in the 80s and 90s.
I ate many chili burgers there.
Lol. I’m from LA and no one I know stops at this scale, I think I stopped once when I got my license and once I found out they don’t chase I haven’t stopped since.

Only time I did get pulled over was in Idaho at a large scale but I’m talking about scales you are familiar with or know someone that runs them often.
Pulled in late one night for my 10 at the Frostburg MD weigh station as it was closed. Morning comes, It was like they were just waiting for me to get up and they had me go over the scales. Level 1 inspection, paperwork and logs. Didn't really have cell reception on my PC since it's high up in the mountains, had to call my FM to email them the logs. Wanted to see 7 consecutive day post trip logs, lucky I make sure I document everything I do regarding inspections. Never again taking my 10 in a weigh station unless it's an absolute emergency.
That's why I would never sleep at the coops. Worried something just like that might happen while I was gaming the logbook.
You never stop @ wgt station to take a break never never
Frostburg Maryland they can be real jerks one day I came through I got the green light then I get the red light he yells driver backup I sat there for 5 minutes then he said I could go they like to play games at that scale. Post trip???? Your not required to do a post trip. Wonder how that would have played out if they looked at mine
@@mike-sk2li ill doit only in the mornings!
One way to avoid being pulled in is have nothing on your dash, lights on , go dead slow on the scale. I’ve only been pulled in twice in 10 years
They way I beat the scale at Banning was this. I slowed to 55 mph and let all the fast runners fill up the ramp and I slid on by without stopping. An NFI driver taught me that years ago. Worked every time.
Me 2 but, I slow down 2 like 45 or 40 mph bcuz I'm usually heavy cumn up that hill westbound & I git passed up anyway....✌🏽😁❤

On the Wyoming scale, seen many drivers pull around, wait 5 minutes, then leave. Never go inside.
Yea, i did that recently, but thats because I've never been that far out west. I corrected the issue when i left Wyoming that same day by pulling in to show my paperwork.
Ever get into an accident there, or pulled over , and you're not in their system?? Ouchy . They only seem to check reg.
I think that works in most , if not all of them.
Did that all the time going westbound after they killed the color coordinated cowboy sticker for computer tracking. Before that, we just kept every color cowboy and stuck the correct color in the windshield. East bound, since that port was jointly operated with Utah, you couldn't get away with it.
@5:40 this is why a lot of truckers have left the industry and now the whole Country is desperate for goods and wondering why nobody wants to drive a truck!
One more ticket and I'm leaving. We have opposition from the law and people to serve and work. Things need to be seen about but there is an over kill point to a job. Starts to be a pride mode over a job performed well. Shows when a person is lazy and a person who does their job.
100% correct
I learned a warning is not a ticket. Not even on your record. A warning is no ticket
No good driver left over this crap ! Only you newbies believe this crap !
Drivers do t have a CSA score
Yea, once upon a time, truckin was fun.
I've gone over the one on I-10 at Banning several times and haven't had any issue - BUT I'm empty headed into Mira Loma for a load.
I also don't keep a lot of crap on the dash. Keeping a clean dash seems to help me NOT get pulled in, and a DOT guy once told me that if the driver has a bunch of sh!t on the dash they pull them in because it's likely the paperwork, logs, or something else isn't done properly.
Keep it as clean as you can and it could be an obstruction of your vision.
Never had trouble. Love driving the cochella valley
I had a bad experience with them once back in 2005 but I think it was because my company had a bad reputation so it was manditory to pull those trucks in and nit pick and harrass and threaten.
Ever after that though with other companies Ive driven for I never had a problem with them.
Always my thing. Clean dash, clean floor, clean truck. You would be surprised how many inspections I've had over the years were just glancing over stuff while the dirtbags were pulled over for a full inspection.
Man I hear you but I’m from Florida and even weekends and late nights the weigh stations be open and pulling you in for what they say this is just a random inspection like damn really again. Lucky I’ve always passed those easy level 3 inspections going back home. Keep up the good content and good work 👍
I left few days ago from Florida, dot was in the rest areas doing inspections.
I've seen FL weigh stations open on Christmas day!

Well State Patrol from various states weigh stations made me quit trucking . I do not need the hassle, I quit under a personal protest. Meanwhile criminals are running wild and police don't do anything. Truckers are easy prey for revenue.
It's harassment plain and simple. The real "safety" issue on the roads is distracted driving related to phones
Which is why they do it, its good people that pay the price for bad. Why put effort in to chase the bad guy who will make it hard versus the good guy who will roll over and take it.
It is disgusting the way truck driver's are treated. Totally unnecessary IMO. The real issue is distracted driving by the general public ie. phones. The DOT harassment of truck driver's is wrong. Thanks for exposing this with your vids!
Inspections are important, but when they give you a ticket for a Tom Tom go on your windshield because it obstructed, that’s bullshit. Oh by the way, I see a lot of truck drivers playing with their phones, a lot of cars too.
Dude...I drive 2-3k miles a week and I see just as many "professional" drivers on there damn phones. Watched a guy hauling a load of new cars side-swipe an Oregon State trooper, then hit the pickup the trooper had pulled over, then drive right over the embankment on I-84...all because he was on his phone.
Going into Arizona heading west. Those d bags gave me the stupidest ticket I ever got in my life. My mud flap hanger was slightly bent.
And I mean barley even noticeable. On the trailer. The mud flap itself was perfectly fine.
Almost new. But the hanger bar was cock eyed.
It effected nothing.
But still....
D bags pulled me in and wrote me up for it.
I sat there pointing out trucks with no mud flaps what so ever that drove thru and not one of them was stopped. I asked why is he giving me a ticket when several trucks went thru with no mud flaps.
He wouldn’t say a word and just kept writing. I just took my ticket and left.
Absolute d bag of u ask me.
We always made sure we crossed through there late at night or before 5am before they open.
Those scales you mentioned actually got theyre rear ends spanked hard by the higher up authorties over them.
This happened in early 2000-2003 time period.. Those scales were writing over weight tickets, they wrote enough that it was making a lot of drivers as well as the trucking companies mad as hell.
There was drivers who were smart enough to get a cat scale weight ticket as proof they were within the legal limit but as soon as they crossed those scales in Arizona they were immediately issued an over weight violation.
This happened enough that finally the dot department that over sees all the other scale houses which operate in every state making sure they are conducting duties legally. Well big daddy reviewed an endless list of complaints that they decided they better find out what was going on.
They weighed a few trucks prior before sending them through that scale house.. sure enough those trucks got popped for being over weight.
That was the evidence Big daddy was looking for to take the next step and an investigation was quickly conducted.
They determined that the scales had not been calibrated in over 3 years. Its manditory thatvevey state weigh station has theyre scales calibrated often so that it reads true.
For 3 years they illegally collected money off of the backs of a lot of drivers and trucking companies.
Arizona had to pay out a massive fine, the people incharge of running those scales wound up in a lot of hot water, and were fired. As part of the agreement after getting spanked, they could not weigh trucks crossing those scales for 3 years.
I passed you on I80 AS you were being pulled into the scale in Evanston (the I80 port you mentioned.) I pass that port every other day as I bounce between Denver and salt lake for the majority of my loads. I think I’ve been doing this for 2 years now and have only been pulled into that port twice.
Here’s a note though for everyone… keep a clean truck, your paper work NEAT and tidy in the folder, and keep your securement tight and right and those guys will call you in once in a great while and won’t bug you much.
Same experience. Never been bothered there.
That scales is actually pretty awesome. All they want to see is paperwork.
Best advice yet. 👌 💯. And don't run around scales. DOT know the routes used to do that and will randomly set up somewhere along the way, waiting for the ones that do. They will march u to the scales and do a level 1 inspection. Guarantee u that will be the costliest inspection ever
Ha! I actually was day dreaming for some reason and almost missed that scale. I stopped on the shoulder and was contemplating backing up when the scale on the CB must have read my mind. "Don't back up" Gee, sorry you want me to bring my paperwork in? No, just don't do it again. lol.....

@@michaelchason9170 : Nothing is out of route when it comes down to possibly getting shut down for some bull💩 reason. New Mexico is one of them. I actually had a good (funny) experience at Banning one night, they were on a paperwork fetish that night so about every third truck was pulled in for paperwork inspection. I got my paperwork went inside, about 5-6 standing in line.
I happen to notice the trucks were just rolling thru the scales, then I saw a Trooper trying to put paper in printer that printed the scale info for the desk. He would put the paper in, feed it up thru the printer, then as he leaned forward to hit start the toe of his boot would go down on the paper stack, causing it to rip out, time after time this happened, I tap the driver in front and showed him, then all of us were watching trying not to laugh..... I sure we all LMAO all the way to LA!

Chowchilla near Le Grand, California on highway 99 north bound is one of the worst
I avoid that one like the plague. Take 152 to 59 into Merced then back on 99
@@JeffKelm1981 Worth the detour.
I hate the Chowchilla scales with a passion, Banning, Cordelia, and Cottonwood are all bad but Chowchilla is worse than the others put together. You hit the nail on the head. Banning is the worst always has been even back in the 80’s
The one that is in Maryland is great for heavy haul carriers. They love heavy haul carriers. Although it is rarely open, it is a heavy work zone when it is open.

Get on Le Grand before reaching the scale do it all the time and haven’t been in a scale in 3 years AVOID chowchilla weigh station
The scale in Wyoming I only went across once, that was when I was doing OTR training with US Xpress, the officer there was pretty nice and when I saw a Security Forces badge (Myself being a air force cop) we immediately started talking and soon we became friends. So that's my only experience I had there.
Great video! Thanks a lot!
I've been through that Wyoming scale thousands of times. All they do is make people park and bring papers in. They look at your registration and record what you're hauling. I have never been longer than 5 minutes and that was because I was waiting behind someone. I have never been inspected there. I think it is quite an easy port.
Love Wyoming
Plus if the yellow light is flashing across from the office it states drivers not needing permits may exit, been seeing that more and more there. Plus they're usually closed during the night and you can park there to get your 10 in

Bro,
Great video! Also very informative and accurate. In 1974, my parents moved to to small desert town in California. As a kid I can remember truck drivers complaining about the Banning scale. That scale was number one on your list. In the future please warn us if your going to use big words like cognitive. Lol. We are truck drivers Mr. Academic. Lol. One last thought was when you mentioned, the possible air leak. Come on bro if you have that bad of an air leak you deserve a level 1. Straight up bro that ain't safe. Again great video and content. You keep posting and I'll stay driven. ☮️ from Cali.
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
we just went over this today in our cdl class and thats what our instructor told us is to take the ticket and we where all confused how a ticket is better then a warning thank you for that clarification
But did your instructors tell you that drivers have a CSA score ? If they did then they lied !
And yes you can’t do a que on warning , but drivers do not have a score
The scale that you mentioned in Maryland on 68 should definitely be on the list. I could never get across it without being inspected.
That's why I always took a nap at the TA in Valley Grove, WV, and went by at night while they're closed.
Don’t stop at the scale. If every truck rolls on by they won’t be able to do anything about it. Our trucks keep this country running and yet they treat us like trash trying to take our money through “violations”, expensive fuel, and cheap rates. We need to stop letting them take advantage of us
You sir………………..
Are 100% correct. I wish more people understood this concept: the more you comply, the more power you give away to the ones who steal your freedoms one by one. The thought is “well if I comply like the good little citizen that I am, then I’ll be a good boy that they are proud of”. Couldn’t be further from the truth. Human nature and the nastiness of it all, makes sure of that. Power corrupts, so the first time you cede your own free-will to someone else’s arbitrary wishes, is the first time you’ve just given into a form of slavery to another man.
This is foolish advice and akin to trying to outrun the police. I saw a trucker blow past one and he was chased down, then had a bad attitude and was charged a $5000 fine. They can charge you for failure to obey a traffic control device. It can severely impact your career because you do not have a legal leg to stand on.
Funny, my first thought was Banning. Got to be pretty bad when you sell souvenirs saying " I survived the Banning scales" don't know if they still do that anymore.
looks like no one survives them anymore
I haven't seen the Banning souvenirs since Pilot took over the Giant in NM.
@@adammcdonald3632 I stopped driving in 05, right before the hours of service rules were changed, so yeah, it's been a while.
Hey Brian, there is a Port of entry I 94 east bound coming in from North Dakota into Minnesota state line , always open weekends and holidays and the scale prepass almost never flash green light. And its always a level 1 if they pull you around the back.
@Artur Khazin
I haven't driven professionally since 2008 but when I was a newbie (circa 1992), at that time, someone had made mention that that very particular P.O.E. was one of several that they used as a D.O.T. training location which was one of the reasons for it not usually ever being closed.
Never looked into it enough to confirm that tidbit of information.
The only other stations that I tried my best to stay away from, back in the day was the one up in Williston, ND (Westbound) and (act surprised 😮) Gilroy, CA. Don't know if these locations are still up and running or not.
Never got written up or shutdown but when you're trying to make time especially when they've decided to pull you in for a full D.O.T. random inspection, it just makes for a very long day!
I 94 coming in from WI used to be rught up there. I retired 12 years ago.
35 years of driving and only got pulled around back one time in banning. The worst one I ever experienced was on old highway 71 outside of ashdown Arkansas.
In 17yrs of trucking, I've only recieved one overweight ticket (over on the trlr axles) and that was in Bulls Gap, TN on I-81 south just south of exit 23. Virginia has let me adjust but Tennessee would not.
Bulls Gap is a real doozy. I try to get by there before they open of the morning. I generally don’t worry about scales but they will find something one way or the other
Good information!!!!!
thanks for the heads-up.
I ran for the feds and got pulled into the port in Loma, they don't know how to act when you have plates that don't expire and you have a little card that has a phone number in DC that says call if you have any questions. they screwed me around for about an hour before they let me go.
Back in the mid 90s I had a chance to ride with a friend to take a empty trailer to leave outside of cook city , in Yellowstone park. We had to stop by the forest service building and they put government plates on the tractor and trailer. We then dropped the trailer and Bob tailed back to the forest service building and they got thier plate off of the tracktor.
The I-71S scale has been closed a lot the past few months for some reason. I use the drivewise app n get a bypass 99% of the time unless it's a mandatory hazmat pull in.
Brother, this list is…SPOT ON!
Let me give you a quick story. I was working for a Swift Transportation in 2018 and they blessed me with a brand new truck that only had 3 miles on it. I Kenworth T6 80. I went to Colorado and I got pulled into that scale that you’re talking about and the guy had an attitude and gave me a level two went about 30 or 40 miles down the road and got pulled into another Colorado scale and got a level three. I told the guy at the second scale I just got a level two down the road. Said that was down the road. This is me.
I told myself after that, I won’t be delivering anything to Colorado. A lot of truck drivers don’t like going into Colorado.
I drove past that scale in Wyoming for the last 3 years and it's not open that often early morning. Not knowing what to do until recently every time I got pulled in I just drove into and right out the parking lot. Smh.. thank God I never got a ticket for doing that.
I got an overweight ticket hauling cattle at that one in Maryland at like 3am.
Did they expect you to weight each animal before loading? Did they want you to make sure the animals didn’t move during your travels to make sure there was “load shift”?
That ticket seems ridiculous.
scales east and west in Wisconsin on 90 and 94 got pulled over the scale 2 times with an empty trailer on the same day
Hey Mr Driven..good morning and SALUTE 🇺🇸...I'm one of Missouri's newest commercial driver license holders...now its decision time for me..lol.. preciate the video
I used to go across Wyoming every week, for the past 3 almost 4 years, only been pulled in for a paperwork check a handful of times. Even during the day.
What some drivers (and the personnel at the scales) forget is that the scales serve as a way to warn not just for safety purposes, but the road conditions as well. A place in Tacoma, WA had this intersection by the port with CLEAR GROOVES from heavy vehicle traffic. One fun and interesting fact is that (from my experience) military trucks seem to be exempted from scales. Probably because it’s the Federal Government and/or the loads are pretty much set and secured. This was over 20 years ago. Maybe not much has changed since. Truck safely! 😎🇺🇸💯
Military vehicles are exempt from federal emission standards and have right of way over everything on the interstate since the federal interstate was made for national defense
Port of entry scales in Wyoming are always open because all the overweight/oversized permits are paid at the scale if I'm not mistaken
Yeah, I believe they’re the only state where you have to call in with your measurements ahead of time and let them know you’re coming then buy the permit in person. It’s stupid but they have pretty nice DOT people to be fair (Sheridan Port Of Entry)
Yeah when you call in they will give you a code to tell them when you get there. I use to haul the big tires to the mines. I think there still 25 dollars for the permit. Unless they changed it.
Yes show paperwork and move on also if you have prepass which is I have last 3 times I got bypass
Your are correct
They're gonna get their money so yeahhh we're open🙄
Frostburg Maryland has a hard on for oversize loads. Ran many years across there coming out of Dundalk Marine Terminal with OD loads and then back to Dundalk, Frostburg loves their height pole and measuring tape.
Love the Vault Boy T-shirt! And, the information.
The I -68 Frostburg MD scale is always actively looking. I personally haven’t had any trouble with them, but I’ve seen quite a few pulled around 😳
I got pulled in their the first time I went through
Gee MAYBE BECAUZE OF 13 MILE HILL DUMASSES DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE ON IT
I 95 MARYLAND BOTH SIDES ESPECIALLY NORTH BOUND AND I 70 WEST FROM 95
Scale in New Mexico on I10, Lordsburg NM on east bound side, West bound I10 west of Anthony Tx.
It's so funny how you said about Banning, cause that's when I would plan to go through it, DURING BUSY TIME!!!! SO I CAN JUST GET ON THROUGH...
Back when I ran only scale I had to cross was Utah on 80.... jersey to the shaky..... beehive gave me the most trouble
I wouldn’t exactly call it the worst but through DC where 95 and 495 merge that weigh station is always open when I come through now. Only problem is most of the time I just pass through but Maryland dot seems to target box trucks A LOT. It’s hit or miss on 95 north of Manassas.
Yes, that is a bad one.
How do you check your CSA points? Ive got stopped for a low pressure tire..
I agree with you on the first 2. Couple more is the Cottonwood Scale in California and the one going North out of San Fransisco.
the weigh station in truckee ca, coming from reno nv, is always opened. weigh stations going north bound from san diego, on the 5 and on the 15, are usually opened as well.
Company I work for has good enough csa scores we get to bypass a lot of scales
Best way to pass the Wyoming port of entery is to go directly to the parking lot. Do not go on their scale. Go to the right side of the building directly to the parking area. That is the one before Chayenne
Yeah, if you're directed to the parking lot, otherwise you could be in trouble.
@@mackdog3270 not the eats bound. The west bound. They basically use the scale for heavy haulers. Keep an eye on it and you eill see. Scale is for those buying trip permits only and heavy haul.all others bear right.
The scale on I 65 north in Tennessee just past the Alabama state line are always open and doing inspections!,they got me one time at 4am for a level 1 inspection!,I haven't been across that scale since.
Good 👍 weight scale information
Go through any Wyoming port of entry and you must take in paper work but it’s very easy and never had a problem.
The port of entry in California from Nevada I 15 is the worst.
Is that the new one they built a few years ago?
It was still under construction in 2015 last time I was out there
@@adammcdonald3632 Yea that’s the one. If you don’t have a sticker on your windshield they will pull you in and do a compete level 3 inspection.
Maryland I95 right near the Tydings Bridge. They're always trying to slow you up. Then they park undercover cars up the road, pull you over after you blow the scale. Safety in numbers!!
Shit I blow that one all the time fuck em lol

A few yrs ago west bound into WY I pulled an inspection. Company flatbed driver. 6 mo old truck. 2 yr old trailer and empty. Elog and just came off vacation so not much to see on the logs. I live in NE so I wasnt far from home. After trying hard and finding nothing to bitch about they gave me my paperwork. I gave a HUGE SMILE and said THANKS. I get a 100$ bonus for a clean inspection. Officers face was priceless.
There's London, KY (I-75 northbound) also, among those who never close. They do have a brake scanner that'll tell the officer whether your brakes are too slim or not. And they're always inspecting. Then you have both scales north (last) and south (first) on I-75 in Georgia, at Tunnel Hill, who never close. They'll chase after you, if you try to bypass.
You're wrong. Ga. scales are closed overnight and weekends. Been running a dedicated out of Atlanta for over 13yrs and I have never seen a Ga. scale open after midnight or before 6am.
@@timcatrett1340 I must've forgotten, now that you've mentioned it, I must've been talking about Valdosta, somewhere in that vicinity. They caught me 1am.
Saint Clair, MO. Gave me a ticket for the "contrast" letters and numbers on my truck. It actually took 3 officer's 1 held the tape measure, while another walked off the "proper" distance and held that end on the lettering. And last one had the flashlight and moved his head side to side. And determined it was a violation. The lettering was maroon with silver outline. I got it dropped but WTF.
Damn that’s crazy
Donners pass scale. Usually, I'm bypassed but a couple of years back I had four inspections in four weeks. Keep in mind, I hit the scale at 0300 each time, so they were bored. Clean bill each time, but it made me late.
After passing the inspection what do you do with the paperwork. Do you need to email fmcsa to report it?
@@TheSylvesterruelas in my case, I send them in to my company and they take care of it. Unless of course there's an issue with my truck, that's on me to get it fixed.
If you're an O/O, I'm not sure what needs to be done. Maybe send the paperwork to the same place you'd send your logs?
@@mackdog3270 if you're an O/O doing your own compliance, it just goes in a file.
Driver file for driver violations, truck or trailer maintenance file for equipment.
If you had a clean inspection you would have gotten a inspection sticker in your window, they would not bother you again for a minimum of 30 days. All you would have to do is tell them you have been inspected and passed within last 30 days and they legally have to let you go.
Any port off entry in Wyoming you have to going in and show your bill of lading. Along as your load doesn't change while traveling through the state you can bypass the scale.
Got a Level 1 at that East Bound station in Wyoming, guy was really nice!
D.O.T they are working together with those mechanics and made tons of money from truckers. I have heard that some of them forces truck driver, either to bribes them or replaces good working brakes chambers. So please be on alert for these corrupted individual.

Wyoming weigh stations make every truck stop and bring in your papers. They just check your registration IFTA, ask you what you’re hauling and say have a nice day. Ever since I got a Prepass, I’ve always gotten the green light, so I never go in there anymore.
I’ve been pulled into rest areas in New York for inspection. I think it’s Brunswick GA on 95 is a dot training place. They get a lot there. Going in and out of Florida on 95 they got the weight station and agricultural inspection and both pull you in
I84 in Connecticut at both ends of the state. And I95 outside Kittery Maine.
Sucks coming in I 84 or 684 you get a dbl from NY and CT sometimes😒
Yep the Wyoming one where I got my first corrected ticket my only ticket since I been driving due to being 8 pounds over weight plus they made me buy a over weight permit after sliding my tatums and fixing it ….like whyyy did I need to buy a permit for 60 bucks if I’m not over weight no more lol
Don't you mean 800 pounds overweight? NO state will issue a ticket for less than 200- 1000 pounds. With Wyoming it is ALL about money, if your load is 1/8 inch over 60' they will fine you and make you buy a oversize permit.
Used to go through Banning twice a week hauling produce into LA back in the 90's. Kept my truck clean, good tires and mechanically sound, never had any problems.
Driving for Schneider, on their Floor & Decore account, I use to go through banning just about every other day, back and forth to Phoenix, AZ and Moreno Valley, CA. I went through that weigh station only once. No inspection no problem. The only one I ever got inspected at was on I-5 ("The Grape Vine) in Labec, CA. The inspector couldn't find anything wrong.
We love your passion for sharing knowledge and being honest and straightforward and you have a natural ability to talk about anything and telling stories intriguingly and captivating. Some older heads tell me that their age group doesn't share the knowledge to younger generation because most of them had to learn firsthand and hard way. Like they say "the game is to be sold, not told! Most people don't agree with that mentality towards younger people and choosing to not help because they hold grudges for being treated the way they were. Jesus is not like that, so I know that's not right.
We do not share our Knowledge because these Newfie’s do not comprehend just like the lies the bastard in the video!
There is no CSA score fir drivers ! Fmcsa only gives points to companies !
That’s just a fact that most people don’t comprehend!
Driving is experience. You don't just jump behind the wheel of a big CMV and automatically know how to drive. You can be taught and told, even shown the basics... but that doesn't make you experienced enough on a 10% downgrade, in an automatic ( many not knowing it can manual shift also ) to know letting it coast to 80+ mph with a 45mph curve coming up is NOT the thing to do. You see the newly replaced guard rails where this occurs. Common sense isn't instilled in many... you get accidents. You can talk, show, explain all you want... if the person isn't receptive, they're gonna have problems - even accidents. All it takes is you to turn that wheel a slight too quick for a wind gust to catch you at that exact moment and - over you go.
Glad to hear Banning is still #1
They kept me away from home 2 -3 months at a time. Had to tell them all the time, get me home or pick your truck up at The Union 76 nearest to where I was.
I had trucks on with Mercer and yes just about every time I'd get an inspection
Years ago in Iowa, I was shut down for a 13 year old bogus speeding ticket I refused to pay. I spent a week at a casino on the phone and never got it resolved. I just continued driving and years later it was dismissed cuz they couldn't find the file anymore.

Lol! I haven't been to California in years but I still remember waiting at the truck stop as a rookie. As soon as they said BANNING scale closed on the cb radio EVERY trucker would haul ass to pass in hopes it would back up and be able to bypass.
The weight station on I-57 right after you pass the MO state line
The one in Missouri is often times closed. They aren’t bad. Them guys are pretty lazy.
I probably caught them on a bad day then because they were doing about three inspections when I pulled in and they inspected me

Very true. What those companies don't realize is that the money they save by screwing drivers goes straight into the recruiting dept payroll. Common sense 101.
