Neoteks are ridiculous strong. Give them a las pistol and a flash granade for start. All my friends hate them. Fly is amazing. Just build them smaller and then you can get them into cover quite easily.
I find neotek being one of the best options in this codex. 1) He always has light cover 2) he can have mesh armour => this things are ridiculously sturdy and can be positioned in a way that melee fighters can't reach you at all. Photon flash for lulz and green goblin vibes and hand flamers as an upgrade. Now it doesn't matter if your ballistic is 4+, you just ignore at and fry people alive. Excellent move allows van saar to excel at pick up\escort etc missions requiring movement. Photon + flamer turns him into fine CC machine. And don't sleep on toughness upgrade, this guy now can be used as a screen for you heavy weapon guy.
@@BearfootMiniatures Not in the competitive sense, that said occasionally the Acheotek is in the right place at the right time to counter the opponents melee attempts, situational and more luck based tho I'd imagine. I'm going to try a las carbine spam list with dual las sub carbine archeotek w/ spider rig, an Arachni-Rig and then all gangers with las carbines for the luls.
@@BearfootMiniatures Yea, rad-guns are templates right? Deck the radphage champ out for combat, send them in and then shoot into combat with the rad-gun. I think the archeotek shines as a promotion for a neotek during a campaign, and the agility skill to put on the neotek isn't spring up, it's sprint. 3 moves with that board attack. Could you infiltrate the cyberarachnid to try and get a first turn charge or web gun shot before it panics and runs for it's owner?
Don't know if you've already done this, but would you be willing to do an update of these lists since Hive Secundus came out? I just picked up that box and I have ZERO clue how to play, but I appreciate the lists since I don't even know how to do that yet lol. Would be nice to get an update since the Spyrer rigs are now part of the team for Van Saar. Cheers!
Hey mate! Glad you enjoyed it, the more recent vids have had a steady increase of equipment (and post processing) quality so is better as you work through!
I think really it comes down to the train of thought your going on: yes in that its a gun boat brute so wont suffer too much from the lack of a move value, on the other hand you may need it for the clutch situation and cover is the best protection (I know: clear answers...) At the end of the day it genuinely comes down to play style: I tend to always forgo armour in favour of more mooks to take hits!
Van saar I feel has been dealt very bad hand on special rules and the unique champs like Archioteck. and archiecybernetica is on some what disapointing. But for the Arachni-rig? It has been most often paid it cos as specially that Twin-linked heavy lascarbine has all ways melted gangers and even not managing to charge the versatile claws on the +1 to hits whit the claws help bit on the poor ws +4
@@BearfootMiniatures Its is hard to build them to fight in melee they are at best awerage. Like champs A1 is making them poor to it even they have acsess on combat as secondary. I have mostly been looking making staling close combatters but I have yet time to test such builds at full
The Cyberarachnids look like great pets. The fearsome trait is probably the best quality to potenyially negate charges.

I hadn’t really thought of the flash tbh (never pops to my head outside Escher tbh) but that’d be such a good/annoying usage of them!

Have you had success with it?! Id written it off due to the shooting seeming just a more expensive option compared to a short champion tbh

What I’ll likely do (as the van Saar themselves haven’t changed much) is include a secondian incursion and archeo hunter section in the spyrer vid
Only thing that turns me off SubCarbines is the fact they can't be paired with Hotshot packs.

Is it worth it to upgradefrom light to Heavy carapace on the Arachni-rig? It reduces the charge threat..

100% agree in terms of flavour; I don’t think they needed a boost power wise but it would’ve been nice to have options beyond “shooting champ”
