Had to watch this for the 50th time since Easter is almost here. I loved Martha's old shows but when her mom was on omg it was extra special. I would record her show everyday and would come home have a quick dinner, get into my sweats and escape into Martha's world.
What a nice and simple way to eat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In the end, we give up what we think we cannot live without, that could be sex, money, alcohol, drugs, video games, computer, our phones etc, and the point is to realize that life itself comes from God, not from any of those things we are so rooted and attached to. God is who we depend on. Never forget that!
Martha and her mom (Bigger Martha)are a inspiration of love sharing and goodwill of family and tradition. Martha has always been my favorite woman of means (as is B.M.).She's a whole lotta woman.Keep on. Truckin Martha Stewart.
I remember watching this when it aired on FoodNetwork. These were my favorites when the two Marthas were on..Martha how lucky you are to have these keepsakes and memories of your you and your precious mother to watch and reminisce again!
I could just cry when I see your wonderful videos of you and your mother. You both had such a wonderful bond and she had such a loving presence in those classic videos. All of the recipes are wonderfully classic and so reminiscent of the past when my mother would cook. I really loved how sweet and loving you were with her and it really seemed to bring the best out in you. Brava for such a wonderful dedication to your mother! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this wonderful video: great recipe, charming mother (+R.I.P), and the awesome Martha, who always keeps the standard very high. Happy Easter!
God bless you Martha! You are such a good daughter for making these videos with your mom. I enjoyed making this recipe; it was absolutely delicious!!! The sour cream really makes this dish scrumptious.
Hello! We just wanted you to know we made these cross buns in honor of your Mother and added extra currants in your honor..❤😊😊😊 thank you for making so many of our holidays extra special truly❤😊😊❤😊
I’m sure that these are fine, however, they are not authentic. Growing up in England hot cross buns would only be available on Good Friday at the local bakery. My Mum would order them and I used to be sent to pick them up - 4 daughters, Mum and Dad, one bun each. They had currants and candied peel ( a must) as well as lots of spices. The cross, made with flour and water was piped on prior to baking. Never used icing sugar. The glaze was brushed on after baking, either a sugar/syrup mix or warm Lyle’s golden syrup. This is how I make them today.
nice video - but traditionally, hot cross buns do not have icing on top - here in the UK, the cross is piped on before baking and is a mixture of flour and water.
I have tried this recipe, but they did not stay for over a day ,it was not soft, don’t know If the yeast is not the same as your one you used ,we live in South Africa
Jeff Pagan which is really interesting - I always considered my family as old fashioned Catholics but we are only allowed to eat fish and bread during Ash Wednesday and Great Friday :) and we eat as less as possible - only one filling meal a day
It's a terrible faux-pas to create the crosses with a sugar icing. It is done traditionally with a white flour paste which is baked with the buns, and therefore not superficial.
Hola!!!. Lo lamento por ustedes, pero no se el ingles, y si no van ah mandarlo para traducir me tengo que limitar ah eliminar el sitio. Hagan algo, Teresa desde Argentina....
I tried a recipe made by Martha and her mom. Followed it to the letter. It was very disappointing. Not doing that again. I was looking forward to it but it was not worth the time…😐🙁

The whole world was saddened to loose Martha’s mother.
Nice baking i remember your recipes be safe
Martha's mother was just as great a cook as Martha. Martha really must have learned so much from her Mom. It's in the genes.
"bread is a staff of life" lol
Yummy 😋, I wish Donut shop's would have those in the morning along side the regular donuts.
Martha, please share more recipes with us that you did with your mum !!!! ;-)
Her mom is so cute ❤️
You don't put icing on hot cross buns. It's a mix of flour and water paste to make the cross.
Beautiful, please chef, write the ingredients
