    Nice build very creative, your in Texas right, with your car already being stripped, it would be easy to put in a solar roof vent, for like 50 to 100 bucks for a yacht and some window visors to keep it cooler at night, and keep bugs out while still keeping you dry and safer with better airflow and less moisture.

    🤔😩😞I know you’re new to that type of lifestyle. I don’t live in my vehicle but I love love love road trips, camping & hiking and so I have learned a few things over time after being on the road and watching van dwellers, campers & hikers. Sometimes I sleep in my SUV at rest stops and gym parking lots to save money on hotel stays especially when I’m passing through and only need to sleep for a few hours or even overnight.
    💡Get a national gym membership (like Planet Fitness) so you can shower and workout there as you travel across the country instead of trying to use that shower pan set up.
    💡Also there’s the option of staying at campsites and do tent camping….they usually have showers also trucks stop gas stations have very nice showers for $8-$15 (well the few that I have seen were nice and clean) as you travel across the country.
    💡You can “sponge bath” with a small bowl of warm water (you can heat water with a small collapsable electric kettle or car plug adapter) and wipes / baby wipes until you get to a full shower. Heating up a large amount of water to bathe in your car and then trying to get dry or undressed/dressed is making things more complicated than they need to be IMHO.
    👍Well that’s my 2¢ worth….just a few suggestions or ideas. Wishing you safe travels & wishing you the absolute best. 💝

Up in Iowa currently. Super grateful how reliable this car has been tbh. I will say it's not the best long term solution but it teaches you to be grateful having nothing and also having it as a backup is comforting. i think a lot of people dont understand this lifestyle and how much i enjoy it. being alone for extended periods of time is probably the worst part and not good for anyone

      @ItsJDonYouTube  Год назад +3

      @@itsTheKevL that sounds a lot like the situation i was in when I made the decision to no longer pay rent. I get that for sure. The extra space from a van would be really nice. The minivan has its benefits for being generally less expensive and also more low-key. Plus you will probably get a few more creature comforts like a full sound system. On the other hand, the transit connect or promaster city would have a bit more room and if it had no windows in the rear, you would have more privacy. One thing ive noticed also is that the utility vans are a bit harder to find. At least in the Austin area.

    • @itsTheKevL

    theres an eco flow that you can charge up at ev charging stations. ive been eyeballing that for a while. as soo as your camera panned to that eco flow my head and eyes perked up. it almost looks similar. in fact i cant tell the difference, but if it was an eco flow delta pro, i think you would have mentioned its capability to be charged at ev charging stations.

    • @ItsJDonYouTube
      @ItsJDonYouTube  Год назад +1

      This is the one right below the delta pro. I think it was called the Delta 1000 or something. IIRC it was a version that they were phasing out when I bought it last year. There wasn't much about this brand at the time, so I was kind of taking a leap of faith purchasing it, but the price was much better than the Jackerys. I have been extremely satisfied with the EcoFlo! Not sure if the ability to charge at an EV port was available when I bought mine but maybe. I would HIGHLY consider that option based on my experience!

    • @StopLossLOL
      @StopLossLOL Год назад

      @@ItsJDonRUclips you just need to buy an adapter that goes from EV-plug to household plug and then you can charge any household device at a EV charging station. there is nothing special that the ecoflow needs be able to do. The charge adapters are around 100 USD, so it may or may not be worth it to you.

    so i'm about to do that same, i'm in the process of buying a 1992 ford e150 econoline and i'm going to convert it into my own little mini home. my hopes is to travel to new locations and between working a part time and doing door dash. The thing that i have found with the whole vanlife is to build something that fits your needs. like i have a list of things that i would have to live my life. My hopes is to make this van into a mobile man cave that i can live in. i plan to have a full on separate power source. id have two battery hooked up on a system that is not only hooked up to a solar panel but when the vehicle is running it can be charged by the vehicles alternator. I also thought about having a shore power hook up put it so if i stay at a camp ground that has power i can have power that way. As far as cooking, id have a Air frier as well as a electric skillet. bathroom id had just the little portable toilet thing i see most people have. the one i like the most is the one that wraps it for you and all you have to touch is the bag itself. but eitherway i have ideas, and i just keep getting more by watching videos like yours and many others. also as far as taking shower, i have unlimited free showers at Loves truck stop. Also if you want a better bedding, go to walmart and buy those foam pads, i did this when i was living in my durango. i stacked like 4 of them and with all my sheets and bedding. it was rather comfy

    • @ItsJDonYouTube
      @ItsJDonYouTube  Год назад +1

      It sounds like you have a good plan going into it. I can relate to a lot of it.. Having that experience of previously living in a vehicle helps for sure. If I were to get a van now, I would really be considering like an e-bike or a small motorcycle to go along with it. Especially doing doordash. I have seen some van builds with the alternator setup youre talking about and it definitely seems like a huge plus. Good luck on your journey man and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
