Just Drinking Rum reviews are for the every day backyard rum drinker. We are just two guys who love trying new rums and want to share our tastes with the world. As we take a look at the looks smells and tastes of each rum, we do so as if we are drinking it in our own backyard. The mixed drink portion of the review is for the backyard rum drinker and done with only a single soda mixer (Pepsi- by Robert & Coke- by Roger) to ensure the value of our review is equal for all reviews. (Some exceptions will apply for certain rums)

Not sure about the 10yo but Don Papa is notorious for adding not just sugar but vanillin and glycerol to their NAS and their 7yo rum. If it's a matter for cocktail use then I guess it's just about balancing the existing sugar profile but one of the recent rums to come out of the country that seem to be an honest product would be Luisita Rum. Those guys make a no-additive/not-spiced rum though they have their own dark history with labor and plantation ownership issues.
