What Is Entropy? The Arrow Of Time Explained!

  • ⭐️ When we look around us, there is no ambiguity about the direction of time: it only moves forward. If we would live in a microscopic world instead, the distinction between part and future would not be so clear. How do the laws of motion, that do not have a time direction, lead to a macroscopic world where time does have a preferred direction. In this video, we'll find out.

    Each interaction is a singularity. No two interactions are identical. Perpetual motion doesn't repeat its path. Similarities are probabilities. Lightning can strike the same object, but on a different path and point of origin. Time is a probability of measuring with past events that may take place in a familiar pattern of past observations of uninterrupted velocity, motion, and distance taken in accordance with probability. We observe past events always. We can guesstimate this action as a repeat probability. Points of origin are always changing. Change is inevitable. Similarities are not proof of exactly the same. Origin is the cosmic speed limit of interactions. It is always changing places and points.

  • @stephenweber9141
    @stephenweber9141 Год назад +2

    I still have trouble with this concept. Entropy increases in an isolated system. Isolated systems are rare in the cosmos. It is easy to create a system for which the entropy decreases, at least for a while, e.g. in a refrigerator. However, time does not run backwards.

    • @whyofpsi
      @whyofpsi  Год назад

      Well, that depends on the frame of reference, and what you compare with. Let's say you refrigerate a volume of air. Temperature is the average kinetic energy of the atoms. Since the temperature drops, the average kinetic energy of the constituent atoms drops, which makes it so their distribution of velocities is less spread out. Or in other words, the possible states these atoms can be in (their momentum) decreases. Now, if you would not be aware of the external power powering the refrigeration, you'd be thinking time is indeed going back: atoms going from disorder to order.

    One thing - the pendulum example that you gave isn't technically a "microscopic" system, right? It's a "simple" system (I don't know what the technically correct term for that is or how to quantify it).
    Even two giant solid spheres in empty space moving directly towards each other, colliding, and then moving apart - that would also be a simple system (even though not microscopic) - in which we can't tell if it's moving forwards or backwards in time.
    So maybe in the realm of classical physics, micro and macro states aren't the most precise terminology, and instead simple and complex are more appropriate? (obviously going into the quantum physics domain opens a while new can of worms)

    • @whyofpsi
      @whyofpsi  Год назад +2

      You are completely right in your remark. I should have called it an "idealised system", instead of microscopic. I intended to allude to a pendulum without any friction or any internal dynamics.
      Most of the time, microscopic states correspond to the systems that can be described by very few parameters, and are idealised.
      Quantum Pendulum (Harmonic oscillator) is something I have planned to deep dive on in a future video! :D

These things will hurt us all your life, for what to hurt us. ..If you are wise, Why would you be at a checkpoint? I opened my eyes, & I was back, sitting at my table, comparisons as much as the comparisons I draw, a tool, like my pen. God is the word. ..

    times doesnt move forwards, our consioucsness does, by dimension jumping to another dimenion that has moved slightly. because all dimensions are fixed and cant be changed, therefore to move an object you need to leave one dimenion and go to another where the object is already in the new position. That is how the illusion of movement and time works.

    • @whyofpsi

      Does that mean you'd hypothesize an incredible amount of dimensions? How would you test your explanation against the ones established by physics now?

    • @traida111
      @traida111 Год назад +1

      @@whyofpsi well its not my hypothesis, its known within metaphysics sources, which means it's not yet science. To say there was an incredible amount would be correct. Anything you could imagine, which means the scope is not just what our reality could be (earth \ physics etc), but what we could imagine. So a version of you right now wearing a pink hat also exists because its within the scope of a persons imagination. You can't imagine anything that doesn't already exist, that is what our imagination is. From our perspective we would consider it an infinite amount, but apparently it is actually a finite number, just insanely large. I would say there are tests that could be done, to prove the concept, but they haven't yet been discovered.
