The fact that you know the melody to Do I Wanna Know so well without even knowing what it's called shows how catchy and pervasive it is... like it or not it's not surprising at all that it has a billion streams

@@AILDDuckTeo i never said it had to be complicated to be good and if anything i think theres a lot of songs that are really good that are simple in structure/writing across many genres, but there is such thing as too simple and they are very much that for many people who want something interesting to listen to. to say that not wanting every song from a band or artist to sound the same while using a soundscape that is so unbelievably saturated and overdone is elitist just makes it seem like you dont know really know the definition of elitist. not sure how you went from not being a fan of the band to knowing that theyve gotten more experimental on their recent albums but if thats true and its actually good then thats great but still obviously a majority of their sound is their very safe same-y sound and thats why people either dont really like them or do like them, also using acdc as an example doesnt really work bc theyre also very much like arctic monkeys in the sense that theyre well known and have a big following but also have their schtick and their not-so-well-aged gimmicks that also drive an equal amount of people insane when they hear them. theyre also a band from a completely different time in music and back then their sound wasnt as common which is unlike the context of the music industry that arctic monkeys entered into so its also not really a great comparison in that regard either
