    Great simple kit. I use a Buff as an eye mask every night, I thought I was the only one!

    Brilliant adventure, love the idea of finishing work, going out for a micro adventure, then heading back to work again in the morning.

    Fab thanks! The first couple of times I tried this it was a pretty strange experience and I felt slightly insane. Did it again the other night and kept my mind calm the whole way through, and thoroughly enjoyed it - epic sunset, sunrise and owl screeches! Think I will get more addicted to this as I get more confident. It truly opens up the world!

    Love it. I've done a few of these now myself and with friends and they just make a normal day somthing to remember.

    First thing I do when I get a new rucksack is trim off the useless bits and bobs. My last pack I was able to trim half a kilo!
    Cool vid. Thanks!

    Great advice, and given with enthusiasm!
    I’ve not quite plucked up the courage to do my first 5-9 on my own. Now trying persuade a work colleague it’s a good idea.

    Mosquitos aren't a concern in the UK, apparently. My bivvy bag/tarp camping came to a swift end when I spent a night being eaten alive in Massachusetts.

    Great video. Just for fan, why not publish the total cost of what you packed? Cause to keep it that small and light I'd say that looks like expensive gear :)

    You lost me at "didn't bring any food". If it were me that bag would be filled with sandwiches and fruit. Then when night falls I'll be like, hey it's cold in here and all food is gone and there's ants. Let's just go home 😅

      It totally depends on the terrain, weather and how much gear you are carrying...

    Would you recommend a down or synthetic sleeping bag when bivvying?

    • @IRosamelia
      @IRosamelia 3 года назад

      Yes, go ahead 😜

    • @al_humphreys
      @al_humphreys  3 года назад +2

      Down is warmer, lighter and more expensive. Synthetic works better when wet. It's all a compromise between those things...

      @@al_humphreys thanks for the reply. I've got a couple of RAB down sleeping bags...just trying to find an excuse to buy another synthetic one 🙃 😅

    • @al_humphreys
      @al_humphreys  3 года назад +1

      @@richarddavies1592 If you've got down, (and lovely RAB down), I'm afraid you don't really need another bag, unless you're going somewhere extremely damp (Arctic Ocean) or humid (Amazon). Otherwise - sorry, no more toys allowed for you!

    While I get the advantages of setting up a basha over a bivi, and I some times do, I am fine with just the bivi. My favorite small ruck is an Arktis; its best function? None of that "functionality" stuff.
