"Oregano Dessert" - Pizza Tower Custom Level (CYOP)

- This is the level I submitted for the "Pizza Tower Speedrunning Community Tower" which was made using the CYOP mod.
So this is pretty much a slightly more challenging (debatable) version of Oregano Desert with a cold theme. The encouraged "prompt" for the tower was essentially "an alternate universe's version of the normal game we know". And this level's idea came from hearing about "Strongcold", a PT level that appeared in demos but didn't end up in the final game. I'm not exactly sure of the story behind it, but at a glance I thought it to be a "Winterized" version of Bloodsauce Dungeon. While I dunno if that's actually the case, I thought I'd try to "Winterize" a different level for my submission. And what better level to do that to than the one that takes place in a desert? I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

That first secret was honestly a really creative idea, I'm surprised no one else has really done something like it.
Play free falling from floor r and get to the escape sequence
A lot of early Pizza Tower builds and the Wario Land games do stuff like that so it’s not that surprising
The Eggplant version of Wasteyard had a similar idea, where Peppino as a ghost would have to weave through several Angel Priests to progress further into the level, though it was built more like an obstacle course than an escort mission

Ok, I LOVE the idea of a secret Snotty room for the most evil/good hearted of players. I'm doing that for my tower 100%. Great level!
damn, people with the map editor in the pizza tower are doing high-quality work, I even got a winter mood even though it's summer now
I didn't knew the fire mouth transformation could break ice blocks. That's a pretty neat find!
Back to the Christmas Race build, which Oregano Desert was Christmas level.

Yep! It only happens when going down slopes; silly thing I wanted to involve somehow. Sadly you never really see it in the base game.

@@molten2010Again I'm assuming that Marvin meant they didn't know because Firemouth never really appeared in a level with the ice blocks.

its because firemouth used to be used in the freezer before the jetpacks and the pepper pizza existed
Very amazing level. I love how you used the ice blocks and the firemouth transfo to make this level stand out amoung the rest. good work
I'm impressed with how well made this level is, it really feels like something you'd find in the main game. I especially like the first secret, very well hidden!
i actually like how this does a better job handling the firemouth transformation and the ufo section than oregano desert itself
Hm i wonder if the ground is made out of cake and the show flakes are sprinkles
tbh i really love how smooth lap 2 went, something about Peppino running at an almost uninterrupted mach 4 is oddly satisfying to me
I was actually super happy with how it went too, haha. I'd never actually hit that dive bomb over the cows and into the boost pad before so that was a fun surprise.

and he can only close 1 door at a time with the switch block. (theres also a bunch of alarms for animatronics to run for the door.
peppino has to do some tasks to get toppins (you can get only one by staying in the office, the rest by having to go out. and do task shit idk)
Someone made something similar but u dont have 2 go out.

After watching the whole video, it's a cool level, it has some interesting ideas, but regarding the cows in the igloo ufo, I discourage cyclical mechanics, as (at least based off what I've seen) everyone hates the pizza cutters in bloodsauce, the minifactories in peppibot are annoying, and everyone hates waiting for things like the cheeseball spawner, as it takes control away from the player completely. (again, at least based off what I've seen) People like timers, not timing.
While I don't necessarily disagree that cycle-based obstacles don't mesh 1:1 with the qualities of PT that emphasize speed or flow, I personally find that the inclusion of obstacles like the cutters or conveyors made their corresponding levels much more compelling and those contrasting moments of speed much more satisfying; similar to the idea of "tension and release" in music.
