    I understand the advantage of propane heaters being lower maintenance, but it has two significant disadvantages: the requisite storage space and the inconvenience of having to track an additional fuel source. It may be worth considering offering customers a choice between a petrol/diesel heater or propane.

      Thanks for the comment! There are certainly pros and cons to each of the heating systems available. We prefer the Propex heater because it performs incredibly well, is low maintenance, is externally vented (i.e. reduced condensation), and is not impacted by elevation.

    Been in my Wayfarer van full time for a month now, installed a cheap Chinese all in one diesel heater which has worked fine on the chilly Colorado mountain nights but in Nevada now and it’s still a bit warm so haven’t needed it…will keep this in mind for when the Chinese heater bites the dust…Thanks guys!

      Hi Anthony - we closed our Reno shop earlier this year. But we're still building vans in Colorado Springs. We'd love to get you converted here (only takes a day) and help you plan a great road trip home.

    I’m now considering this for my Walter over a more expensive Webasto! The website says it must be installed on the driver’s side, but this video shows it on the passenger side? Can it be installed on the passenger side in a Promaster?
    Also, can you wire this to the van battery? Looks like the energy is pretty low.

    • @WayfarerVans
      @WayfarerVans  Год назад +2

      Hi Tim, Sorry it took so long for us to get to your question. We are only doing installs on the driver side now even though the video shows otherwise and we cannot hook it up to the van battery only a separate battery source like the GoalZeros.

    Hi 2 questions. Was a 25lb tank not workable? Why did you choose propane over a diesel heater? Thanks

    • @bruceskousen5451
      @bruceskousen5451 Год назад +2

      I’ll tell you why. Diesel heaters require periodic maintenance. The heat chamber builds up soot that has to be cleaned out. This requires removing and dissembling the unit, not something that many people want to tackle. Plus, most diesel heaters run continuously. Thermostat control is basically controlled by how much fuel is pumped into the fire box. The Propex heater turns on/off based upon the thermostat. The Propex heater is more efficient than a diesel heater, using a max of 1.5 amps while running. It uses approx 7oz of propane per continuous hour of running.

      Thanks for the reply. Makes sense now. Was a 25 lb tank not possible?

      Thank you for helping out with this Bruce. Another reason Lee is we try to keep our install time to a day to get people their conversions as soon as possible and so we design simple solutions for our builds.

      Hello, Scott. Unfortunately, we do not but we recommend an Olympian heater which is great for the smaller living space in Wally.

    Propane heat? Doesn't that produce an undesirable amount of moisture in the air in your van when the heater is on?

    • @AudioSpaceGeek
      @AudioSpaceGeek 9 месяцев назад +1

      No, because it’s not a catalytic heater. The Propex is similar to a home furnace where the air for combustion and the air inside the living space are entirely separated.
