Bungie was being clever with precision instrument. It's essentially a scaled down, pre re-work Magnificent howl.
Not at all. Mag howl required precision. Precision instrument does not. It stacks on any damage, not just precision hits. I'll be honest, I'm still salty about them taking away mag howl. I really enjoyed it.
I run it with feedbacks and shield toss. Hit somebody with a shield, 30s of neutral 3 tapping any resil
@@Matt0purdy mag howl only needed 67% precision to get 3 taps off the rip. Precision instrument needs 100%
@@Aj-py8en assuming you're talking purely about 180's, yes. Precision instrument also allows 120's to 1b-2h for optimal on all resil levels.

If you haven't tried Eddy Current since the rework, use it with voltshot on nation of beasts. feels incredible for any content where amplified is easy to keep up. Really solid option for a reload perk now, sad that sightline doesn't get it.
Agreed. Air trigger is top tier. You taught me that & I'm a Flawless sealed player. I prefer that you take the time to get to the heart of what makes a gun unique & which perks truly shine. Thank you. Much love

Strategist/Volt is a very strong combo for builds centered around class abilities. Ascension on Hunter, or even better the rocket backpack on Titan. If you're downing enemies with headshots, you will basically always have 6 rockets ready at the same moment you get your barricade or thruster back.

I really do appreciate these videos. While crafting is nice I find myself all too often just making “safe” or basic decisions when it comes to crafting because I’m lazy and don’t really put a lot of thought into things like synergies or what a new perk might be like.
Seeing stuff like this makes me feel a little more at ease stepping out of my little comfort zone and trying something new
I love how many times a perk that i just think "well this is an instant shard on anything i roll it on" then CoolGuy sits me down and explains "well here's where you're wrong, Bucko"
I still use Field Prep on most any weapon i can ever sense you pointed out how that was also Outlaw on demand
Imo keep away is a much better option than air trigger. You can use mods to up your reload speed and keep away is gonna give you that extra range 90% of your gunfights, which with a 180 is crucial to get consistent kills with them.
Really appreciate this review, CoolGuy - as thorough as always, but just so appreciate the out of the box thinking. Genuinely have not seen anyone talking about air trigger much at all, much less air trigger/icarus dash, and air trigger/voltshot combos, which make perfect sense now that you highlight them. It really shows a mastery of your craft - you really know the ins and outs of this game. Thanks for the great ideas! Already loved this gun and now have a couple new rolls to try.

I am a huge fan of field prep, and you opened my eyes to how air trigger is field preps airborne sibling. Sincerely hoping they put it on more heavy weapons, other than the Solstice rocket coming soon! With the changes to reserves and the reserve trick getting removed, air trigger and field prep are going way up in stock.

I have not taken this weapon off since I crafted it. Absolutely addictive to use. I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun in PVP with a gun.
Something worth pointing out about the Keep Away / Precision instrument roll - I play on PC with Controller due to disabilities and I really struggle in both PVE and PVP with slower hand cannons (especially 120s); so having huge range & accuracy on a 180 HC just sounds perfect, gonna try it out now lol
Stompees increases hip fire accuracy while in the air too ontop of icarus grip and in flight compensator, if you wanted to negate air trigger penalty too

I wasnt going to craft this gun at all. But you showing how good air trigger has convinced me. Air trigger volt shot for pve. Im not usually a fan of reload type perks on hcs when i can get it on sidearms. Sidearms just reload way faster base but air trigger convinced me
I was waiting for your take on this one! Crafted it with Keep Away/Precision Instrument for my Bakris build and it was…fine. I’ll have to try this combo. Not sure how I feel about the handling stat on your version though.
I love this hand cannon, I have a enhanced strategist and voltshot build, and it’s so fun to use, voltshot is great and I always have my class ability on Hunter, paired with the exotic chest piece to just spread jolt 24/7
@CoolGuyGames In your Nation of Beasts review, you stated that enhanced keep away gave 15 range despite what it says in-game and in the UI. Has something changed? Love your content. The absolute upper echelon of gear reviews.
After the crimils video I hunted for an air trigger roll I liked, and found the perk really gels for me and my play style/habits. Sightlines in pvp is probably not for me, but I will definitely be doing at/voltshot.

Hey coolguy, hope you're doing well. I had a video idea not sure how much effort you would need to put in. Could you do a video on resilience levels in the crucible and where the ttk shifts are for different archetypes and what level of resilience would give you the most benefit with out being max

Great video! I love 180's myself. I'm convinced to give Air Trigger/Kill Clip a go. I didn't see/hear about Frontier's Cry. It's my go to handcannon in PvP.

I really love Precision instrument and desperate measures for pvp, but outside of that Frontier's cry just has better stats everywhere and a better origin trait.
I've been a big fan of bakris with 180s for a while now and this just creates the perfect combo for it
Has anyone tested voltshot instead of kill clip in pvp? Im wondering if it 3 taps at all resils like kill clip because if it can then its just better than kill clip in every way

You might be the only high end CC that is praising Air Trigger, but your argument for it is getting stronger every time. Loving this weapon with the basic Keep Away/P Instrument combo, but may consider that AT/KC combo tonight.

I have not been running 180 hand cannons with Precision instrument, but based on what you're saying D2foundy's TTK must be off? It makes the cut off look like tier 9 for a 3 tap
2x Surge mods let you 3 tap 10 resilience if using Precision Instrument, for 10, 15 or 30 sec depending on mods.
An orb comes by easier than getting a kill with an 1 sec ttk weapon sometimes, when your 1v1 opponents most likely out ttk you and won't miss shots.
Which was almost always the case when I brought Sightline Survey into sweaty lobbies or trials.
In addition to Bahkris being radiant also guarantees 3-tap correct? So another alternative is the radiant dodge on hunter, melee attack from prismatic fragments and the orb pickup from artifact?
I'm really enjoying it on Titan with a Hazardous Propulsion build.
Arc means I can match surges with either Crux Termination or Grand Overture and with it being easy to land precision shots with, exodus rockets are loaded quickly. Using Strategist paired with Voltshot. Strategist is obvious, given the build, Voltshot is just a fun perk. I may switch out Voltshot when I take this build into the raid.
What are your thoughts on Eddy Current after the changes? Super snappy reloads with voltshot now
after hearing the claim of best chaining hand cannon in the game, I really think you should give the Ikelos hand cannon another shot. I certainly don't disagree with survey taking the top spot, but with the many damage/ttk changes since it came out, the ikelos_HC with offhand strike and golden tricorn can now three tap any resilience after a kill, and with the origin trait refilling the mag you never have to reload, plus the obscene range and precision aim angle from offhand, all while avoiding the frustrating 180 ADS viewmodel after the first kill. worth a shot at least, it's been such a favorite of mine!
I'm pretty sure it was CoolGuy back in D1 who first pointed out how busted the Outlaw/KC combo was and changed the meta. His proclamation re: Air Trigger feels similar.

The perfect weapon for Cool Guy is gonna have Full Bore in both barrel and mag, and then Shoot to Loot, Air Trigger, Kinetic Tremors and I’m not sure on the origin perk. Guy LOVES full bore, and hates stability, despite being on controller
Gun kick kind of blocks view of the target. Other than that, its an awesome weapon.

It blew my mind when I saw Outlaw levels of reload when I crafted it on Bold Endings with huge skepticism.
I love 180’s, and this is easily one of the best. I hate all the slander they get, they are no where as bad as people make them out to be.

Some people just don’t like the way they feel, it’s probably just a preference thing. I think they are the best feeling hand cannons, and I usually do better with them than 140s and some 120s
They feel good if you’re not hitting 140 3 taps…if you are 180’s feel like an eternity
Strategist with volt shot using thrusters with HOL is a great combo
I’ve been using EA/Voltshot. It’s not the flashiest, but DAMN does it feel good. I haven’t enhanced it yet, so I’ll give air trigger a shot!
I was curious how much the air trigger reload was. I'm not an aerial fighter isually, but I have loved 180s since Service Revolver, ill definetly recraft my Soghtline and good ve iy a try.
Alright fine, I'll try air trigger. But I'm sticking with PI. The potential for a fast 3-tap, and the potential to keep chaining fast kills without a reload inbetween, not to mention how it helps teamshots and cleanups keeps me using it.

Agreed with KC, however, if you use it with Mask of Bakris….Enhanced Precision Instrument is next level goooood!!! Try it sometime, it’s 3 taps on demand of any resilience level, so long as you Dodge before the engagement!
The new two burst pulse coming next week will have air trigger and volt shot. That thing is gonna be great in pve

I love this gun, but I dunno if this perk recommendation is for me. I am new to destiny PvP and getting a kill to take advantage of kill clip with this gun in particular is hard. Would you guys say this perk recommendation is best suited for a destiny pvp veteran? I do way better with an astringent with zen moment and eye do the storm
Air Trigger is an insanely phenomenal perk on anything without a lightning fast reload. It will be meta.
